Philadelphia street crews were out in full force clearing the sidewalks in front of city hall today. City offices and courts were still open so people did their best nav dwating through the slushy and salty sidewalks. Clearing off the car. This man in drexel hill Delaware County didnt have too much trouble getting the job done. As you see the snow was light and fluffy. Snowplow crews were able to clear parking lots before the first customers showed up at these stores. They say the thin coating of snow was deceiving. The salt leftover from two days ago melted and then refroze and now theres a thin layer of ice under the snow so you have to be careful. The worker we spoke with said he pulled an allnighter. As we head toward night fall, a new concern. All that slush could freeze. First alert meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz is watching that for us. A lot of the main roads are dry right now. As can you see with i95. The sunshine has helped dry things out nicely. There are still areas, especially side roads, that have some slush on them driveways, sidewalks and that is going to freeze. As weve gone through the day today, the temperature hasnt gone above freezing but the suns rays are Strong Enough to melt some of that snow into slush. And now with those temperatures going down even from this level things are going to freeze. As we go through the night tonight, just partly cloudy skies, no more snow or precipitation falling from the sky. Temperatures dropping through the 20s. Not a whole lot of wind tonight. But we do have a system coming toward us during the day tomorrow with some snow on the way. Well have the timing on that with the rest of the sevenday coming up in just a few minutes. Now to a story you saw first on the nbc10 news app. Check out the flames coming from a snowplow in new briton township bucks county. We dont see the flames but the plow driver was clearing the wawa parking lot on doylestown road. The truck was on fire. The driver says if it werent for those customers screaming, the situation could have been worse. I heard a pop right when i was turning around. Kind of got suspicious that something was wrong. I didnt know until at least a good two minutes later. The trucks owner says hes thankful the driver wasnt hurt. First alert weather predicted some of the heaviest snow in south jersey. Boy, did that come true. Nbc10 Jersey Shore Bureau reporter Ted Greenberg is in cape may at a popular summer spot that looks very different today. Is. Reporter the shovels had to be dusted off for the first time this winter in cape may after 7 inches of new snow fell on the jersey shore resort. We got a couple a couple inches last time but it all melted by noon so we didnt have to do anything. Reporter highways including the garden state parkway, were mostly wet by midday but road crews kept putting down salt to prevent refreezing. We got a good amount of snow here. A few inches of snow. You can see thats about how much we got here. Its fluffy snow. Earlier today the roads were dicey, so were the sidewalks and paths like this. Theyre not too bad right now. Local schools, state offices, all county offices closed today because it was that bad. Theres a concern they could get bad again tonight. The 59yearold man was found saturday near a wawa in southampton township. Temperatures dropped about 10 degrees that day. The medical examiner now working to determine how the man died. New video into nbc10 news of disgraced expennsylvania treasurer rob mccord just moments after he formally admitted he broke the law. Till a couple weeks ago he was pennsylvanias top money man. Now hes a convicted criminal. Mccord pleading guilty today to charges he used his office to strongarm campaign donors. Nbc10s Harry Hairston live in montgomery county. What is mccord saying today . Reporter well mccord isnt speaking but i did speak with his attorney a few moments ago. He says what they have coming up later this summer is to meet with the judge and to talk about the status of the case. Now, mccord is one step closer to learning his fate. His next step is getting sentenced sentenced. He once had the lofty thoughts of becoming pennsylvania governor. Now his political career ats at a low point. In open court rob mccord admits he strongarmed campaign donors. I essentially said that the potential krishlts should not risk making an enemy of the state treasurer. Clearly, that was wrong. I was wrong. It was a mistake. Reporter that mistake has cost mccord the treasurers job he held for six years and his reputation. And depending on how a judge rules, it could quost him his freedom. Mccord had put 2 million of his own money into his race for governor. Ive always believed in accountability and talked about accountability. Now i have to live it. From our Lehigh Valley bureau. An allout search for this man after a kidnapping in berks county. They say Marshall Mcginty used an ak47 to a man housesitting. He drove that vehicle to an atm and stole 60 and then untied the man. Pennsylvania license plate gtd7635. Authorities consider him armed and dangerous. Call state police with any tips. Delaware state troopers are looking for an ellendale man wanted for breaking into an elderly womans home. They say he broke into a 91yearold womans home in sussex county. He tied her up, stole jewelry and cash and then took off with the womans car. Family members found her in the afternoon. What are they saying about the suspect whos still on the run . Reporter theyre saying they want to know who he is. They released a description of the man who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and not much else about him. They say they are looking for tips from the community. We also spoke with the victims family who say they cant imagine why anybody would shoot him. Whoever decided to take him from this world, they took a wonderful thing from the world. Reporter family members shared these pictures of jamar. They say his music only came after his children and work. His mother was at work when she learned her son was killed inside a Recording Studio inside a New Castle CountyCommunity Center. He was the kindest, most humble most loving person. He wouldnt hurt anybody. Reporter the family says they have no idea why he was targeted why a gunman would go inside targeting him, walking past women, men children and walk out of the center before the police arrived. The Community Center is closed today. We saw a video camera pointing at the front doors. If police have video, theyre not saying it today. Only, theyre searching for a killer. And, again, we have been talking with police as well as the victims family. Tonight police asking for help in trying to solve this crime. They say the victim was targeted but theyre not saying why. To the jersey shore. We could know as soon as thursday whether a bankruptcy judge will terminate a deal to sell revel to florida developer glenn straub. Straub missed the deadline to buy the now closed casino for more than 95 million. The casino could seek a third potential buyer if the straub deal is thrown out. To breaking news out of monmouth county, new jersey where emergency crews rescued at least one person stuck in thin ice in middletown. No word yet on how that person became stuck. And a 4yearold new jersey boy accidentally crashed his familys car and now his father is facing charges. The car hit a building in ocean county monmouth county. Police say taverse left his son and 2yearold daughter alone in a running car. The 4yearold climbed into the drivers seat, put the car in reverse, causing the crash. Neither child was injured. Police charged the father with child endangerment. Montgomery county native Ashton Carter is officially on the job as secretary of defense. He was sworn in earlier today. Take a look. Theres a band of snow showers here. Can you get a little burst of snow. And so thats going to be a big issue. An even bigger issue is going to be the blast of arctic air.
