we saw them coming out about bags of evidence. unclear whether they took the gun out of the home. we were also here as the young child's body was carried out of the house. they didn't even transport the child. the child had died here on the scene. the investigation in its very early stages right now. it's unclear if there was foul play. though we were told that the family members of that young child were down at the chester township police department right now answering questions. unclear where that gun was, or how this all unfolded. this, again, is breaking news right now. we'll continue to talk with city leaders. this is right here on the border with chester, the city of chester, which had a very violent day yesterday. a 16-year-old murdered there yesterday. now reports of a toddler killed here also from gun violence. live in chester township, i'm drew smith, nbc 10 news. >> drew, thank you. breaking overseas, this is unfolding as we speak. police in england are investigating what they're calling a major incident near london bridge. bbc news is reporting that several people are hurt after a van drove into a crowd of people near the bridge. witnesses say a driver was going nearly 50 miles an hour before plowing into the crowd. stay with nbc 10 news for instant updates. as soon as we get more information on this incident, we will bring that to you. also right now at 6:00, the man accused of stabbing philadelphia city councilman david oh is now under arrest after turning himself in to police. 24-year-old sean yarbry said he didn't do it, and that he doesn't even know the councilman. randy gyllenhaal has been following this story all day long. he's live outside southwest detectives. randy, what's next? >> reporter: i can tell you as you mentioned, that suspect turned himself in this morning here at the 18th district headquarters. i did get a chance to speak to his attorney. his attorney said he turned himself in so he wouldn't be a fugitive but denies these allegations, hours after detectives zeroed in on him. he is accused of stabbing that philadelphia councilman. outside southwest detectives this morning, sean with his defense attorney surrendered to police hours after detectives zeroed in on the 24-year-old suspect. police say he lived near the victim's neighborhood. >> a life-long resident of the area so people know who he is. >> reporter: he faces attempted murder charges, but his attorney says he's innocent. meantime, across town today, councilman david oh was back on the job. >> they showed me some photos last night. >> reporter: telling nbc 10 he helped i.d. the suspect for detectives. oh is doing better now, despite deep stab wounds. he said the suspect was carrying a small metal shiv when he attacked. >> i needed surgery. fortunately it didn't cut into anything else. >> reporter: oh said this assault is a chance to confront the systemic issues that can lead people to commit violence. >> i've made a rather speedy recovery. i'm motivated to get out and get to work. and i think address the underlying issues about why people end up in unfortunate circumstances here in our city. >> reporter: late this afternoon, i did speak on the phone with yarbry's attorney. he said he will likely be arraigned sometime tonight. he's still inside the headquarters here at the 18th district. his attorney says he denies these live music festival. let's check in with first alert meteorologist erika martin. >> certainly my pick of the weekend. temperatures for today topped out at 76 degrees, as you mentioned we're seeing mostly sunny skies. earlier today, we did see one or two scattered showers moving across the area. but for the most part a wonderful end to a saturday. it will be a little breezy tonight into early tomorrow morning. we do have a cold front moving through. jersey right now seeing comfortable temperatures as well. lots of 70s. pitman at 74. lumberton, mid-70s for you. pemberton at 75. i think everybody's along the jersey shore. current temperatures, 76 degrees in mays landing. and conditions right now are mostly sunny. but i am tracking some showers that could get here by late tomorrow into monday. will it be a washout for the work week? details coming up in just a bit. back to you guys. ♪ >> you might see people wearing orange to raise awareness about gun violence. this is a look at the wear orange walk at penn treaty park. this afternoon community members, law enforcement and lawmakers marched together. they say that ending gun violence has to be something we do together. >> if we work to enact common-sense gun legislation, but we also try to raise awareness in the community. we invite others to join us. >> a nationwide wear orange campaign was started by chicago teens in a shooting. in the woods to protect themselves and others. a rally to keep the film industry in philadelphia. the greater philadelphia film office hosted the rally at the bottom of the art museum steps. big names in the film industry were there, like directors. they want more film industry opportunities in the city. councilman david oh was at the rally. he said growing the film industry in philadelphia comes down to the state budget. >> we won't help the deficit by suppressing what is creating money, and creating opportunities, and creating tourism and other things here in philadelphia in particular. >> councilman oh says he hopes the state budget uncaps the pennsylvania film tax credit. the turnpike is open again after a deadly crash in bucks county this morning. police say one person was killed when a car and truck collided just before 3:00 a.m. near bensalem. it was closed for nearly seven hours. a woman was struck and killed by a car on a busy delaware county road this morning. the woman was walking on sussex boulevard near northcentral boulevard when she was hit. the victim pronounced dead at the scene. the driver of that car did stop. police are now investigating. take a look at this. a van smashed into an atlanta county pizza shop this morning. hamilton township police say the driver of the van went through a red light, and was hit by a car, sending the van several feet into the side of a domino's pizza. luckily no one seriously hurt there. the driver of the van was ticketed. an early-morning fire ripped through a camden home. you can see the flames coming out of the roof. this is on south tenth and morgan streets. firefighters were able to get the blaze under control about 5:30 a.m. no reports of any injuries. major backlash for bill maher, the late-night host used a racial slur during a live taping of his show realtime. >> i'm a house [ bleep ]. >> as seen in the clip, that aired on hbo, the comedian used the slur during a conversation with a senator who invited maher to visit him and work in the fields of nebraska. the outcry was immediate online. some calling for the hbo show to be canceled. reverend al sharpton is calling on maher to make a correction. >> hbo needs to come to the table right away, because we want that corrected. >> maher issued a statement today apologizing for the comment saying in part, the word was offensive, and i regret saying it. and i'm very sorry. a fast-moving fire rips through one business before moving to two others. next on nbc 10 news at 6:00, why firefighters had to keep their distance while trying to control the flames. plus, an attack that killed dozens of people overseas. now we're getting our first look at the man police say is responsible. donald tmeet phil murphy,by former goldman coming up at 6:30 on "nbc nightly news." a fire tore through three businesses and destroyed them in colorado. police say the blaze started in an auto body shop before spreading to a grocery store and salon. neighbors around the fire were evacuated. firefighters also had to keep their distance after small explosions went off inside the body shop. no one was hurt. tonight we are getting our first look at the man who police say attacked a casino complex in the philippines and killed 36 people. officials released surveillance video of that suspect. today the video shows the gunman setting fires and shooting at security in a stairwell at the casino in manila. authorities say it appeared to be a botched robbery, with no obvious links to terrorism. the victims died of smoke inhalation as they hid from the gunman. the man later ran to a neighboring hotel before taking his own life. the final farewell next on nbc 10 news at 6:00. we'll take you down to kentucky where a local legend was laid tuesday and wednesday. we could see some isolated thunderstorms monday into tuesday. right now i'm leaving rain in the forecast. mostly cloudy wednesday. we are also tracking a potential for sprinkles wednesday. for the most part, my favorite day of the following work week, 76 high temperature. and then we climb into the upper 80s by monday. i was so tempted to go with an 89-90, because that's what
