to many in our area who knew ali well and his life in northern liberty where friends knew him well. >> reporter: good evening. it was community day at the joe hand boxing gym. many kids came out to learn from the champion. it got a new meaning today as they paid tribute to the greatest of all times. the bell rang 10 times for muhammad ali. boxers lowered their heads to remember the legend. not a fighter on earth who didn't look up to him. >> ali stood for more than b boxing, for community. >> admiring ali's courage to put everything on the line to stand up for the vietnam war. >> toe ma me, it surpasses anyt he did in the ring. >> that's ali and myself when he signed a contract in our office in center city. he was my friend and i'm proud to say he was my friend. >> remembering the fierce rivalry between ali and his rival, joe frazier. ali had love of his fans. >> he would sit on the sidewalk and talk to anybody who would listen to him. >> those are from the training camp from kenny gamble. >> he loved to play around and have fun and laugh. >> reporter: gamble says when he converted to islam he made some of the biggest impacts on the african-american communities. >> his life in my view was to shed light in a dark world and to give a people who didn't have any hope, give them hope. >> reporter: we got a chance to chat with some of those young kids about who is he athlete they still look up to. even though they weren't alive to see him fight, nay say it is still muhammad ali. nbc10 news. as we mentioned, muhammad ali lived with parkinson's disease for three decades and became the face of the debilitating disease along with michael j. fox. sitting down with fox in philadelphia today, andrea. >> reporter: we were able to catch up with michael j. fox here at the pennsylvania convention center where he is attending comic-con. fox was diagnosed with parkinson's disease, a diagnosis muhammad ali fought until the end. and like all his fights he brought awareness and attention to the disease around the world. ali was diagnosed with parkinson's disease in the early '80s, a degenerative neurological condition that ultimately made ali unable to speak and altered his mobility. that didn't stop him from testifying in congress. in 1997, one of the most comprehensive park sinson's centers in the world was establi established. michael j. fox first talk to him decades ago when fox was first diagnosed and he recounts that conversation. >> he was quiet for a while and then said, i'm glad you're in this fight with me. one of the most formative moments in my first part of the weekend. we have the alert for all areas aside from the "jersey shore" although i'm thinking we may get locally strong storms there as well and tomorrow afternoon and evening we might get the strongest storms that can be severe and contain not only damaging winds and very heavy rainfall and we have potential for hail later in the day and into the evening. right now, a live look at philadelphia, mostly cloud cover across the area, at least into the city. we do have rain moving into our western areas, just showers across parts of lancaster and berks county and moving through the lancaster area, generally light in nature and we have potential for showers over our western areas, over the course of the next couple of hours. i am thinking these will not be severe and for the most part, staying west of philadelphia. you can see we have big time storms to the south and west moving into our area as we head to tomorrow the next couple of hours in the city looking to the cloudy side. as the early morning hours start to arrive we can see storms move in but late day they are strong to severe. coming up we take a closer look at the timing and we see how long these severe storms will stick around. >> thanks. three teenagers are in stable condition after being shot at a house party in north philadelphia. nbc10 was on the scene at west nevada street. the gunfire broke out around 11:30 last night. two boys, just 16 and 17 years old and an 18-year-old man are all in the hospital. police have made no arrests. in the meantime, we have learned one of the victims of a double shooting in philadelphia's west oak section and a 24-year-old man was shot and a second victim is still in the hospital. from the nbc10 jersey shore bureau, the widewood fire department officially has -- wildwood fire department officially has its first female firefighter. cristina sacco was sworn in this week. her dad pinned her badge on her uniform. she is a life-long resident of wildwood. it is a big day for one group of philadelphia youngst youngsters. they are off to kindergarten. ♪ >> i think they're happy. the city held the ceremony this morning at the museum to honor more than 1004 and 5 year-olds. the kids just completed pre-k programs and will head to kindergarten in the fall. universal pre-k was one of the mayor's platforms. >> you see all these children accomplishing something by graduating to pre-k in kindergarten to first grade. you have to acknowledge that fact and understand we have to support this city-wide. >> if mayor kenny is successful in call the worst animal hoarding case in monmouth county history. police now say 276 dogs were rescued from one home in howell on friday. that's 100 more dogs than first reported. new litters of puppies were actually being born as crews were making the rescues. the couple that lives at that home will face charges. the dogs are now safe at shel r shelters, but will not be ready for adoption for some campaigning hard on this last week, before new jersey and five other states hold their primaries on tuesday. hillary clinton and bernie sanders are both in california today. clinton spoke at an immigration forum, where she criticized donald trump's deportation proposals and she also repeated her promise to introduce comprehensive immigration reform within her first 100 days in office if he elected. bernie sanders is in los angeles today. he is vowing to stay in the presidential race until the drink nati democratic national convention in july in philadelphia. he does not think clinton will earn enough delegates to clench the nomination tuesday night, yet it is mathematically possible new jersey voters could give clinton enough delegates to women the presumptive nominee before the weather. >> it was humid for us this afternoon. overall, pretty quiet conditions. we have had scattered showers move through our western area and that will be the case as we head through tonight as well. our other weather head line issued for sunday due to severe storms in the forecast mostly in the afternoon and evening, cl d clouding up right now toward the city. let's look at what else we have going on here. temperatures for the most part this afternoon in the low 80s. philadelphia, 82, 83 towards the lehigh valley. as we've seen the last several days, cooler towards the southwest wind and 71 in summer's point. 69 degrees towards atlantic city but 78 degrees further inland towards may's landing. we have showers and thunderstorms we are now tra tracking. as you head to tomorrow you will see it toward the gulfcoast. it will take a little bit as we get into this less humid air in the high plains and won't be until this cold front moved tomorrow and with that will come the thunderstorms. in lancaster and berks county, tomorrow conditions are looking more and more favorable for development of strong to severe stock market, damaging winds, hail and heavy rain as well and can't even rule out an isolated tornado although that's the lowest risk. highest risk is damaging winds through the passage of that front. through tonight, scattered showers and through 11:00, a heavier shower in parts of carbon and monroe counties. generally scattered maybe loc locally heavy but it's later in the day we see things ramp up. here's 6:00, that line of storms right along the i 95 corridor, moving through with strong widse an heavy rain and could be an instance at 2:00, things are looking pretty good but two hours later things can change quickly. things are pushing offshore and this will be a quick mover in a quite a bit of time. a big rain mover and i'm thi thinking any flooding is probably going to be localized, something you want to keep an eye out for as you head to your sunday. stormy into the weekend, temperatures on the warm side, 82 in philadelphia. on the humid side, it's not going to be until later in the overnight hours we get that front to finally move through and with that we improve conditions big time moving to monday. 84 degrees the high, sunshine and less humid and chance of showers tuesday and through the week again definitely make sure you're
