morning, the concern for more flooding rain is this line of showers that's to the west. we have some mainly light rain in the area right now but these heavier showers will swing through, already starting to come down in parts of the lehigh valley and the western suburbs. that's a possibility this morning. we'll see more heavy downpours. we're continuing our if first alert this morning, into delaware, new jersey, philadelphia and the suburbs, the possibility this morning of more flash flooding. the threat will end this afternoon. we'll get sunshine. we're not going to see something that the scene. souderton, broad street and franklin avenue, another accident. over in new jersey, 295, the southbound ramp at woodcrest station is partially blocked with emergency construction. tracy? tonight we've reached a milestone in our nation's march toward a more perfect union. the first time that a major party has nominated a woman for president. >> with that, another night of history is chiselled into philadelphia. hillary clinton, the first woman to lead a presidential ticket. hillary clinton and tim kaine will stay and rally with voters at temple university at noon. last night, clinton tried to portray herself as a successful woman and working woman. >> if you believe your working wife, mother, sister or daughter deserves equal pay, join us! >> after her speech, red, white and blue balloons and confetti rained down on the stage at the wells fargo center. before she delivered it, political experts said hillary clinton's speech would be the most important address of her life. how did she do? nbc 10's matt delucia is live inside the wells fargo center. matt, you were on the convention floor with local delegates. how are they reacting. >> >> right after the balloons dropped i went over to local delegations to get their reaction. of course, during the speech, especially but really throughout the night, you could feel the energy here in this arena. take a look here. there were some protests at points during the speech but they were quickly drown out by supporters of hillary clinton. in talking with the delegates, a big part of getting through this week was about unity coming together and here's what some of the delegates told me right after it was all over. >> iç saw a great commander in chief, president obama, my other troops, i'm looking forward to them serving under president hillary clinton. yay! >> we needed to leave here strong as leaders to go back to our communities and win for her. >> and a live look at the wells fargo center. the cleanup under way, since around midnight when everyone started leaving the arena. what you saw on tv, of course, from this arena, a lot of work went into that. 475 workers and 10,000 volunteers were here this week. i spoke with some of them about their jobs and what this week meant to them. i'll have that coming up when i see you again at 4:30. live from the wells fargo center, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. clinton used her speech to batch her opponent donald trump. clinton made a direct appeal to republicans and independents wary of trump's fitness to serve as commander in chief. >> imagine him in the oval office facing a real crisis. a man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons. >> after clinton's speech, donald trump immediately took to twitter to respond, tweeting no one has worse judgment than hillary clinton, corruption and devastation follows her wherever she goes. clinton struggled in this election and elections past with the personal aspect of her character. she's depicted as cold and untrustworthy. her daughter addressed those criticisms head on. >> my earliest memory is my mom picking me up after i had fallen down, giving me a big hug and reading me "good night moon." from that moment to this one, every single memory i have of my mom is that, regardless of what was happening in her life, she was always, always there for me. >> chelsea said her mother wasn't just concerned about her well-being but the opportunities for all children. and while her daughter was on stage introducing her, clinton watched her speech on the tv in the back were peaceful last night. bernie sanders supporters are still angry about the dnc wick -- wikileaks scandal. at least three arrests were made while our cameras were outside the wells fargo center last because of the potential for flooding. and in chester county, they already have damage from last night's storm. cleanup crews started their work before sunset to remove duned trees in newland township. this one fell on a home in harvey bridge road. about a mile down the road, nbc 10 found three downed trees on a property. a shot stopped one treeç from falling on the house. home owners told us it felt like a tornado. >> it was a whiteout. you couldn't see anything t. looks like the whole tops of the trees were just twisted, turn and knocked over. >> there was no official confirmation that a tornado caused the damage. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist bill henley, tell us about what we can expect this morning now. >> we have rain in the area. we've seen some thunderstorms this morning, tracy. cape may has seen that thunderstorm activity move through. the streets are wet. there go the storms pushing off to the northeast. what i'm worried about is the rain coming in from the west. scattered showers right now in philadelphia, into wilmington. look at this line of heavier downpours, that is to our west. that's going to swing through the area this morning. as it does, the potential for more heavy downpours. a flash flood threat still exists for our area this morning. 75 degrees in philadelphia. it's not going to last all day. we will see the clouds thin out after a special guest. last night, the mother of a philadelphia police officer killed in the line of duty addressed the convention. she was added to the schedule after the philadelphia fraternal order of police publicly criticized the dnc for only inviting family members of those killed by the police. officer moser walker was in plain clothes walking home from a shift when he was shot and killed during a holdup in 2012. his mother described finding christmas presents he he had wrapped and waiting in his house. >> he was in august. moses, he always thought ahead. he bought gifts for relatives, for single parents, for strangers down on their luck. >> moses walker served as a member of the philadelphia police force for 19 çyears. john mcnesby praised organizers for making the change and adding family of fallen officers to the lineup. breaking news out of san diego. police have one suspect in customer den and are searching for others after two police officers were shot. it is still not clear what led to the shooting. authorities have told people to shelter in place as they search for additional suspects. we're still working to find out the conditions of those officers. we'll bring you updates as soon as we get them into our newsroom. two innocent bystanders, one a 10-year-old girl, are in the hospital this morning following a violent night in philadelphia. family members of that young girl ran to north rosewood street in north philadelphia but were told by police to go to the hospital. authorities say the 10-year-old was walking with her grandmother when she was shot in the arm. she needs surgery but is expected to be okay. the two gunmen ran away. neighbors say this wasn't the first shooting this week but the third. >> three times in one week? that's a bit out of norm. once a week, every other week is okay. but three times, something is going down. >> meantime in germantown, police say a young father was driving his car with his 4-year-old daughter inside when he was caught in cross fire, shot twice by two men. he is in critical condition. his daughter was taken to the hospital to be checked out. no arrests in this shooting either. more whales are being seen in the water around north jersey and new york city. it's a boone for whale watchers but can spell disaster for the whales. a dead whale struck by a ship in newark bay resurfaced earlier this week. it was the third whale spotted in the area in just days. a humpback whale was seen breaching in the long island sound. captains say they do what they can to avoid the whales. >> we do a great job. we're in touch with them when we're out it. whenever we record a whale in the channels, they slow right down. >> it can be a difficult thing to do. marine scientists say last year was the worst so far for whales in the area. nine whales were reportedly killed, mostly by ship strikes. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> 17 minutes after 4:00. we're still dealing with rain this morning. thunderstorms have moved offshore. there's light rain falling in wilmington, delaware. this is a live view from frawley stadium. later today we get sunshine. it is raining in delaware. 74 degrees, the suburbs, the lehigh valley, seeing that rain and clouds over philadelphia, south jersey and the shore with more rain on the way to these locations. 75 degrees in philadelphia. in south jersey, also in the middle 70s. in the suburbs, 71 degrees and with the rain, it's cooled west kallen township down to 69 degrees while collegeville is 73 and 72 in ft. washington. it will be warmer this afternoon, but it's not going to be in the 90s. the clouds will break for sunshine after we deal with this. the rain that is still to come. you can see a break in south swrerz a jersey and much of delaware. it's this line of heavier rainfall that's moving through maryland this morning. it's falling at a rate of an inch and a third. that's not as heavy as what we saw yesterday afternoon. the grounded is already saturated. additional rainfall on top of what's already on the ground could lead to flash flooding. no thunder and lightning just yet but i can't rule that out. the other thing to look at, look how quickly it's clearing. harrisburg in the clear from the rain. hagerstown, also clearing out. it's going to be a fast clearout. the rain will be moving out and we'll get sunshine. the hour by hour forecast shows at 6:30 this morning, here comes steadier rainfall and the potential for heavy downpours that will continue into 8:30 this morning at the shore and then pushing offshore. look how quickly it starts to move out. the large area of heavy rainfall moving out, then just a chance of an isolated shower as we go into the afternoon hours. we will see improving conditions and not see 90s, not for the next five days. today, 86 degrees. those showers, a chance of a thunderstorm this morning. and then we'll get breaks of sunshine this afternoon. tomorrow, we will see some sunshine but mostly cloudy skies and likely that we'll get more showers and possibly thunderstorms, especially later in the day tomorrow, high of 85 degrees. and into sunday, it's likely that we'll see more wet weather, too. 72 in the morning, 84 degrees in the afternoon. and as timing would have it. by monday, we've got the sunshine coming back into the area as clouds clear out. 82 degrees monday afternoon. 80 on tuesday with a chance of some scattered showers. by wednesday, it warms up a little bit. it's part of a warming trend that will have us into the upper 80s on thursday. both days will be nice, humidity comes down for those days. then it's into the 90s once again for friday and saturday. it won't be an extended period of 90s as summer cools down to 8 degrees. typical summer heat for ramp around woodcrest station. there's an accident in limerick on main street and railroad street to watch out for that. here's 95 around broad street. we still have police activity in place around police publicly criticized the dnc for only inviting family members of those killed by the police. officer moser walker was in plain clothes walking home from a shift when he was shot and killed during a holdup in 2012. his mother described finding christmas presents he he had wrapped and waiting in his house. >> he was in august. moses, he always thought ahead. he bought gifts for relatives, for single parents, for strangers down on their luck. >> moses walker served as a member of the philadelphia police force for 19 çyears. john mcnesby praised organizers for making the change and adding family of fallen officers to the lineup. breaking news out of san diego. police have one suspect in customer den and are searching for others after two police officers were shot. it is still not clear what led to the shooting. authorities have told people to shelter in place as they search for additional suspects. we're still working to find out the conditions of those officers. we'll bring you updates as soon as we get them into our newsroom. two innocent bystanders, one a 10-year-old girl, are in the hospital this morning following a violent night in philadelphia. family members of that young girl ran to north rosewood street in north philadelphia but were told by police to go to the hospital. authorities say the 10-year-old was walking with her grandmother when she was shot in the arm. she needs surgery but is expected to be okay. the two gunmen ran away. neighbors say this wasn't the first shooting this week but the third. >> three times in one week? that's a bit out of norm. once a week, every other week is okay. but three times, something is going down. >> meantime in germantown, police say a young father was driving his car with his 4-year-old daughter inside when he was caught in cross fire, shot twice by two men. he is in critical condition. his daughter was taken to the hospital to be checked out. no arrests in this shooting either. more whales are being seen in the water around north jersey and new york city. it's a boone for whale watchers but can spell disaster for the whales. a dead whale struck by a ship in newark bay resurfaced earlier this week. it was the third whale spotted in the area in just days. a humpback whale was seen breaching in the long island sound. captains say they do what they can to avoid the whales. >> we do a great job. we're in touch with them when we're out it. whenever we record a whale in the channels, they slow right down. >> it can be a difficult thing to do. marine scientists say last year was the worst so far for whales in the area. nine whales were reportedly killed, mostly by ship strikes. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> 17 minutes after 4:00. we're still dealing with rain this morning. thunderstorms have moved offshore. there's light rain falling in wilmington, delaware. this is a live view from frawley stadium. later today we get sunshine. it is raining in delaware. 74 degrees, the suburbs, the lehigh valley, seeing that rain and clouds over philadelphia, south jersey and the shore with more rain on the way to these locations. 75 degrees in philadelphia. in south jersey, also in the middle 70s. in the suburbs, 71 degrees and with the rain, it's cooled west kallen township down to 69 degrees while collegeville is 73 and 72 in ft. washington. it will be warmer this afternoon, but it's not going to be in the 90s. the clouds will break for sunshine after we deal with this. the rain that is still to come. you can see a break in south swrerz a jersey and much of delaware. it's this line of heavier rainfall that's moving through maryland this morning. it's falling at a rate of an inch and a third. that's not as heavy as what we saw yesterday afternoon. the grounded is already saturated. additional rainfall on top of what's already on the ground could lead to flash flooding. no thunder and lightning just yet but i can't rule that out. the other thing to look at, look how quickly it's clearing. harrisburg in the clear from the rain. hagerstown, also clearing out. it's going to be a fast clearout. the rain will be moving out and we'll get sunshine. the hour by hour forecast shows at 6:30 this morning, here comes steadier rainfall and the potential for heavy downpours that will continue into 8:30 this morning at the shore and then pushing offshore. look how quickly it starts to move out. the large area of heavy rainfall moving out, then just a chance of an isolated shower as we go into the afternoon hours. we will see improving conditions and not see 90s, not for the next five days. today, 86 degrees. those showers, a chance of a thunderstorm this morning. and then we'll get breaks of sunshine this afternoon. tomorrow, we will see some sunshine but mostly cloudy skies and likely that we'll get more showers and possibly thunderstorms, especially later in the day tomorrow, high of 85 degrees. and into sunday, it's likely that we'll see more wet weather, too. 72 in the morning, 84 degrees in the afternoon. and as timing would have it. by monday, we've got the sunshine coming back into the area as clouds clear out. 82 degrees monday afternoon. 80 on tuesday with a chance of some scattered showers. by wednesday, it warms up a little bit. it's part of a warming trend that will have us into the upper 80s on thursday. both days will be nice, humidity comes down for those days. then it's into the 90s once again for friday and saturday. it won't be an extended period of 90s as summer cools down to 8 degrees. typical summer heat for ramp around woodcrest station. there's an accident in limerick on main street and railroad street to watch out for that. here's 95 around broad street. we still have police activity in place around
