right now is spinning 45 miles east of melbourne florida. the good news is the eye is staying just off shore. we are talking about obviously bands of rain in areas of florida right now. still a major category iii hurricane. 100-mile an hour sustained winds. so matthew is going to continue to hug the coastline up to daytona beach jacksonville and weaken to a category i during the day tomorrow and look at the loop that if makes, it makes that curve back southwest. so florida will not be done with the week. could still be talking about areas of rain. 57 for us here in boston right now. we're in the 40s for most of the suburbs, not quite as cool as it was yesterday. the skies are clear and we're in for a gem of a day today. touch of fog this morning burns off, 71 by lunchtime. beautiful. shelters this one in a school cafeteria. >> they were either in mobile homes or vulnerable places. >> reporter: conditions here in orlando will intensify over the next few hours. the state joined florida in ordering lane of traffic on this lane of highway yesterday, south carolina did the same as this beach bar stayed open for one last party. >> we're closed after tonight. >> reporter: matthew is expected to move out to sea this weekend. . >> more than 200,000 people in florida are without power this morning. can a daylight will reveal the extent of the damage. the eye of the storm passed o a roof was ripped off a home and trees knocked down. video showed significant damage to hotels. meanwhile in haiti the death toll jumped's 283 people are confirmed dead and sadly that number is investigators confirm they've found part of the wing from missing mall law is that airlines flight 370. the debris was found in the indian ocean in may. flight 370 disappeared in march with 239 people onboard. so far only a few other piece breaking overnight in roxbury police investigating a stabbing. this happened around midnight. with one man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. police were searching the area and talking to potential witnesses as well. also breaking overnight a crash, one person was killed when a car ran off the road. they're trying to figure out what caused that crash. an elementary school today after a deadly shooting in roxbury. it happened right in front of a school with bus with kids onboard. the gunman is still on the loose this morning, the victim believed to be in his 20s was shot last night. apparently the 2 men were in some kind of fight. one pulled out a gun, shot the other in the dead and took off. investigators are concerned about what the kids may have seen. but when you're doing it out here on a busy street with a lot of young children riding home. i hope for the sake of the young children they didn't see it. >> the crisis counselors will be at the harvard kent elementary school this morning to help the kids. this morning police are searching for a killer on the run, an elderly man found dead in his home, his wife badly injured. investigators walked in and out of their east river police discovered the crime scene thursday morning and area schools were put on lock down. >> they were a very nice couple. i is of hurricane matthew sitting 35 miles just to the east of melbourne right now, has 120-mile per hour maximum sustained winds and moving to the northwest at 14-mile per hour. right along this track bands of wind swept rain continuing to hit florida right now. matthew is going to parallel the coastline may make landfall briefly later on today and weakens to a category i hurricane off the coastline of south carolina by tomorrow evening curving out to t and back to the southwest. tropical storm at that point, that time would be 8 p.m. next tuesday. so it does look like matthew is going to do a loop here and florida will not be out of the woods until maybe the middle or end of next week obviously a much weaker form. look at the areas of rain, widespread 4 to 8 inches, maybe some higher elements that will extend all the way back into north carolina through the day we have dipped into the 30s in some spots. 57 in boston, a lot of us running in the 40s in suburbs. 54 in worcester and in for a beautiful way to end the week. touch of fog, and there is sunshine that's going to be out from start to finish once it comes up. so there's some rain back to our west. this is with a front that's going to come through later on tomorrow and tomorrow night. and that will bring us a threat for a few showers this weekend with but that'sbo for now high pressure is in control. flights are already cancelled for today. health officials are investigating a case of tb of medford high school. people are only at risk if they've had close or extended contact with the person who is sick. school officials are trying to figure out who may have been exposed. westford academy is expected to reopen today after an outbreak of mrsa. crews thoroughly cleaned the school yesterday. 4 students including 3 football players contracted the super bug and there are some more cases, new cases of mrsa this morning. 2 students at the the high school, the bacteria is highly contagious and resistant to some antibiotics. a dangerous shortage of platelets. there's a need in massachusetts and across the can country. they're often used for patients with leukemia. a local father could face charges for dressing up as a clown and following a school bus. it turns out the man's chide was actually on that school bus. police are investigating and will city whether that father should face
