a boston police officer is expected to make a full recovery. he was shot in the leg trying to make an arrest on drug charges. apparently has a long record. our coverage begins with julie loncich. >> our weapons out from what i understand. >> members of the drug unit had 27-year-old grant headily cornered up in dorchester and selling drugs while on drug probation. >> at first i thought it was fire crackers. >> i heard the police telling him to stop and he kept on runs. >> commissioner evans said the injured officer trying to tie his leg off when a fellow officer came to his aid. his son not long before the shooting said he can't explain any of this. >> he comes from a good family. we don't do that kind of bev -- behavior. when he's here he's a respectful kid. >> the police do a good job protecting us. >> headily is expected to be arraigned on monday. following his release from state prison last april police say he went right back to dealing drugs. julie loncich. >> our i team dug deeper into deadly's past. there's at least 10 cases against him, most with drug and weapon charges. in 2008 police labeled him a career criminal, he served several years in jail. he was released on april. this comes on the a police officer in philadelphia. police say their job is more dangerous as ever. as jim armstrong reports that upsets residents in the need of communities that need some more sprinkles. to the west of there berry to gardner to orange we have some light snow being reported and a few slick spots on the roads, particularly in satellite and radar picture, the bigger idea here, we have more snow showers moving into vermont but most of and temperatures become milder allowing for any of that snow to change over to some light rain and sprinkles. very spotty in marlboro and 495, worcester to west boylston, spencer, auburn all of these light snow showers are purring to the east slowly. as they run into the warmer air around 495 then it's changing over to light sprinkles. be aware. slick spots in the worcester hill s . satellite and radar picture here, once weapon get the precip out of the way this morning it will be a nice afternoon. i think some police were trying to pull over 27-year-old grant headily seen here in dorchester. they say headley started shooting. officers tackled headily. officer suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive after he was ambushed sitting in his patrol car. shocking scene was captured on surveillance video. officer jesse hartnett was shot three times. the gunman who shot him claims he was doing it for the islamic state, walking up to the officer's car and firing into the cruiser. as paula evan reports, despite getting shot at 13 times that officer managed to get out of the car and return fire. >> this could have easily been a police funeral. >> surveillance videos show the gunman approaching officer jesse hartnett's car. another shows the suspect reaching inside the vehicle hitting the he has a criminal history and that the gun used was stolen from a philadelphia police officer 2 years ago. officer hartnett was seriously injured but expected to be okay. >> police say there's no indication the shooter was tied to a larger terror plot. the expect was treated and released into police custody. he's due in court next week. a nanny on the north shore is accused of getting so drunk on the job she couldn't even open the door for police who came to check on the child. officers say susan conway lowery the supposed to be caring for was still conway lowery is facing charges. a man is in custody accused of stabbing another driver in a case of road rage near the south shore plaza thursday. 32-year-old mario roman got into a fight with another man and the night. we're getting new video of a mexican drug kingpin captured in a raid. el chapo did not appear to be injured. he was hiding out in a house on the west coast of mexico. video shows police putting him on a plane to mexico city. el chapo escaped a mexican prison. he's wanted in six u.s. states on drug charges and one former official wants him extradited to the united states. >> el chapo will get a taste for real justice state government will remain vacant and include $10 million in medicaid fee for service payments. the governor is projecting a $320 million deficit. more than $38 million. some mdta riders could get
