Breaking tonight, new evidence of a scandal, an audit of the Police DepartmentEvidence Room just released uncovers some shocking details that could put hundreds of drug cases at risk of being thrown out. It adds up to a big problem for police and the fall out could be huge. The results of the audit are nothing short of explosive, drugs, guns, money, all reported missing from the brain tree Police DepartmentEvidence Room. And damage has been dunk thrown out because the evidence is now considered tainted. This audit makes clear that there were significant administrative errors in the handling and the storage of evidence by the department. New protocols and procedures on the handling and storage of evidence have all ready been established. Reporter the scope of the problem could be huge. The primary focus has been on cases from 2013 to now. Far back as the late 90s could be impacted by missing or tainted evidence. More than 400,000 in cash was originally missing. But the mayor says some material has been recovered. All but 12 firearms identified as missing in the audit have been accounted for.
