up in harm's way so you try to raise them up to know to stay off the streets and make sure they go to school and make something out of yourself. there's much more to life other than out here fighting saint patrick day is thursday. >> yes. what else? what else do we have? >> we have easter. >> primary tuesday. >> yeah, man. >> busy week. >> busy month actually but yeah so yesterday was a nice start to the weekend. today we have rain moving in. so a little bit of a damper close to the weekend as far as that is concerned so maybe if you want to get spring cleaning done inside this may be a better day to kind of stay in as opposed to getting outdoors but as far as what's falling out there right now we've got the rain off to our southwest so nothing really falling across at least not the charlotte metro but even most of the viewing area rain free with the exception of mountains and foothills since this is the leading edged of that batch of the southwest. so as we head through the mid-morning the coverage of the showers will be increasing for us. even if you are dry right now that will change as we do go forward in time here. so we'll try and zoom in on the showers if i can here. it looks like my button is sticking and not quite working the way i want it to. perhaps we'll come back to that later but as far as temperatures are concerned we'll be in 60s. upper 60s by noon and low 70s by 4:00 o'clock. so the wet weather and more cloud cover is going impact temperatures keeping them about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday's high. so we'll talk about this unde -- unsettled weather will stick around in the week. we have your forecast in a few. >> thanks, lyndsay and still to come on wbtv news sunday morning an unselfish act saves the life of two people after a health scare. how they're turning what they call a blessing into a way to help other families dealing with the same thing. heading your way. if you're doing everything right but find it harder and harder to get by, you're not alone. while our people work longer hours for lower wages, almost all new income my plan -- make wall street banks and the ultrarich pay their fair share of taxes, provide living wages for working people, ensure equal pay for women. i'm bernie sanders. i approve this message because together, we can make a political revolution and create an economy and democracy that works for all and not just the powerful few. i just picked us up 2 breakfast croissants for $4, when this bear attacked. with one swipe, it devoured one of the croissants. then jack showed up, and took care of the beast, so i could escape. and that's what happened to your breakfast croissant. and yours? it survived. enjoy freshly cracked egg with ham and bacon. or sausage. two tasty croissants at an eventastier $4 price. bunch year later a pastor in rowan county is teaming up with man whose life was saved -- one year later. they came to hear the story of time jones and don herbert. you may remember jones donated his kidney to herbert who was in stage five kidney failure after the two met during a yard sale. during the surgery doctors found an aneurysm near jones' did knee and ended up saving two lives -- kidney. now the two help -- plan to help another with the money for the benefit. >> it was a trying year. don and i went through complications and god brought us with our story over the year and it's touched a lot of hearts and lives and we're just glad he brought us through it. and we want to see the same results for somebody else. >> we preached what you-all have done helping us -- we appreciate what you-all have done that somebody that you don't know can still want to give back to somebody else. that's what we did tonight try to give back and help another person that's in need. >> the help of life benefit will be held every year to help families dealing with health issues. >> a local financial services makes donation to homeless and readdiction organization based in charlotte. -- they gave away 20 new bikes and 80 interns joined to participate in the outreach event. certainly great cause as well. and girls club during the dance event. last year they raced lee $100,000 -- raised $300,000. they wrere fund raising and they scored perfectly on dances. during this program the youth honoree shared history of how the organization helped him after coming from an abusive home. organization since say stories like this keep them going. >> it makes me feel ill late -- elated. i'm happy for every kid that walks through our doors. they mean the world to me. when they walk through i'm sure we make sure we're behind them and they go college and they'll get a career or they'll go to the military. that's all we want and we want to make sure every bond did supports us. 1.6 million dollars. just i did credible there. >> it looks like fun. >> i hope you're having a great start to sunday morning. hope you had a great weekend. yesterday it felt like summer actually. >> it was humid. not only is it warm but that humidity was up so definitely late spring early summer. but today it's not going to be as hot. >> which i guess the trade off is the rain that you mentioned. >> yeah so hopefully you're outdoors and today may be doing spring cleaning or what have you. we're talking about sunrise or sunset time. here's how that change today with the time change that we had this morning so sunrise will be at 736 to be specific 7:30 down sundown for later on today for the second half of the weekend -- temperatures will be in the 60s. we're right at 63 in the charlotte area right now. also the same for you in gastonia and rockhill. sixty in the area. power doppler radar shows showers over the area. so even in our immediate viewing area we're not picking up much rain but we do have some rain starting to move out towards greenville, south carolina and then back beyond that off to the southwest of where this rain is coming from. it does extend back through central and northeastern parts of alabama. this is all going to be moving in as we head through the morning hours. future cast shows the peak of the activity will be around the mid-morning so if we put this in motion you can see how this moves in from the southwest this is 11:00 o'clock in the morning so there could be rumbles of thunder that's not going to become completely out of the question by any means. through the middle part of the day and once that moves out by this afternoon we just kind government splotchy showers or areas of light rain left in the wake of that to take us through the afternoon and evening. this is 4:00 before we have a lull in the activity overnight and then as we head into monday we may not be completely done. it doesn't look like it will be quite as wet as today but there could still be a hit or miss shower or storm to start out the new school and workweek into tomorrow. so that will be the case as well. as far as amounts are concerned we're not looking for a whole lot here. a couple tenths maybe a quarter inch if we get stuck under a heavier down pour but not a massive washout as far as accumulated rainfalls are expected. temperatures will be in the 60s and 70s in the area with a few rumbles of thunder possible within those showers. seventy-two in charlotte. across the south carolina upstate. you'll probably have mid-70s for chester and lows falling down in the 50s. temps tomorrow in the 70s but then as we do head through the mid of next week we're talking a couple days close to 80 once again by next tuesday and wednesday so we're keeping things well above average over the next seven days. brody back to you. >> still to come on wbtv news not all speech is welcome on facebook. new information on how many people love the rain. we do have rain on our way sunday. there's a live look from our h.d. tower cam 63 right now. it's on the humid side you probably felt high humidity and temperatures in the low 80s. dew points are in the 50s and humid did i think is going to lead to showers out here as we head through the later morning hours -- humidity. not a whole lot being picked up this morning but it just lurking off to the southwest so that rain is going to fill in through the mid-morning hours as we put future cast in motion. so through 12 noon we do have heavier returns showing up on future radar there could be rumbles of thunder. i don't think there's going to be a ton of thunder and lightning but don't be surprised if you hear rumbles of thunder with pockets of rain in the afternoon. by late afternoon evening it looks like the heavy patch has moved off. we have left over lighter showers and lighter periods or pockets of rain that will continue to move late afternoon early evening. then after a brief lull one final wave of showers and storms monday. we'll stay unsettled over the next two days. again we really have been fairly the past week or so. so these spring showers again maybe some of you if you are starting to maybe think about getting garden planted or spring flowers maybe again looking forward to some of that rain. so low 60s in the mountains for highs this afternoon into the foothills upper 60s to 70 with a rumble of thunder possible. we'll be in the lower 70s in charlotte so 10 degrees cooler than yesterday's high which ended up being around 82. so today will be 72. south carolina upstate though some of you will get into the mid-70s for another day with lows tonight falling into the mid-50s so a little cooler tonight. especially north of the city down into the low 50s morganton back towards noon. back to 70 monday and tuesday wednesday we're back toward 80 mainly dry. we're keeping things warm for the next week. we'll stay in the 70s
