>> reporter: that's exactly right, john. in fact in the latest polls by real clear politics, hillary has 57% to sanders 33%. that is a large margin. tomorrow's vote is very critical for both hopefuls as this is the first primary in the south for democrats, now both will make stops in columbia at historically black colleges in a lot in our area but bill clinton campaign forward his wife yesterday in rock hill. south carolina has a large population of african american voters and both candidates received key endorsements from prominent black figures includes jim claiborne for backing clinton and spike lee endorsing sanders. presidential primaries in south carolina are open you don't have to have register by party to vote but if you voted in last week's republican primary, you cannot vote in tomorrow's democratic primary. we'll keep you updated. reporting for wbtv, i'm ashton pellom. >> john: wbtv on your side with complete coverage of the south carolina primary. be sure to download the wbtv news app for alerts sent straight to your phone. >> kristen: we're >> christine: we're working to learn if charges will be filed after a pedestrian was hit by a cats bus. happened at 8:00 at 7th at mcdowell street last night. the man walked out in front of the bus trying to cross the street. taken to the hospital but police we're just getting started for you this morning at 5:00 a.m., the final republican presidential debate before super tuesday turns heated. the attacks the candidates made against each other, coming up. >> john: right now a quick check of first alert weather before we head to the break. 36 degrees in charlotte, but look up in boone, 27 degrees, they still have powerful winds up there, we have school delays in the mountains. a live look at i-77 at trade street, no significant issues along the interstates right now. but we're keeping a check on things because you're never more than seven minutes away from this morning. >> christine: we're following breaking news involving the shooting of a deputy in south carolina, we told you about >> john: go over to kristen miranda right now with more details that are just now coming in the alert center, kristen?
