gets the better of him. he returns to the house, apologized, gave the package back. by the time police arrived, the man had left. even though he returned what he stole they are still hoping to identify him. a crook with a conscience, that is kind of refreshing to season in do something like that. >> christine: should that be breaking news? >> al: maybe in greenville, not here. we talked about this yesterday, we may have a few flurries, a surprise for everybody because we talked about this yesterday. keep in mind, one thing for sure, it is not nearly as cold this morning. yesterday down to 17, but a totally different atmospheric make-up, clear skies, calm conditions yesterday, allowed temperatures to drop. today, different story, canopy of cloud cover coming in, a breeze, when you do that you upset everything which is again you have to get down to 17 you have to have almost a perfect this is cloudiness, breeze blowing, precipitation falling, this is the disturbance we're tracking, some of you may be picking up snow, give me a tweet, send me an email let us know what is going on in your neighborhood. a lot of this looks impressive on radar, a lot from the mid-layers from the clouds, not reaching the ground in most let us know. suggests. sometimes the model is heavy handed but the pattern i'm trying to show you. this is noon, batch of precipitation, anything falling would likely be on the snow side but then notice we get the clouds to break out and some sunshine before the day is over with. however, that is not the case in the mountains, the snow showers will continue right through the day to t day and in tonight. so let's look at that, a winter weather advisory until daybreak tomorrow morning for the very reason. once the disturbance goes by, the winds pick up big time and that is a wind pushing moisture up against the mountains and as it does it creates a snow effect. we're looking at probably 2-4 the mountains. got reports beech mountains 14 inches of snow out of the last event. sugar 8, there may be tough sledding to get there but should be great skiing in the mountains, but will be cold. in belmont, close to freezing, dry conditions here, no snow falling. we have overcast condition in charlotte, hd tower cam from scott clark nissan honda, right at 32 degrees, there is the east breeze at 7, those things helping to keep temperatures up, not as cold. 20s in the mountains. everybody else within 2-3 degrees of freezing. freezing concord. 30 morganton, shelby, 29 in monroe. out the door this morning, few flurries around, lots of clouds, 20% chance, 32 degrees, coming home from work and school, i think we will see a few breaks of sunshine and 42, that is still cold, about 15 degrees below average this time of the year and much cooler than yesterday. so our precipitation chances are up, monday into tuesday, especially monday night but things have changed, the low now doesn't look like it will cut so far to the south and as a result i think monday now we start to see a sloppy mixture across the area. this is monday morning, snow, sleet, freezing rain, the snow gets pushed toward the mountain as warmer air comes in aloft and what that does is creates a mess here with sleet, freezing rain and even plain rain. could get thunderstorms tuesday, south of charlotte. as that system pulls out. here is what the seven day forecast says, few flurries to day, 42, cold winds tomorrow, 37, brutal tomorrow night, 15. valentine's day dry, increasing clouds, sloppy weather monday, ending tuesday and we warm up near 60 by the middle part of next week. you're never more than seven minutes away from weather and traffic on wbtv news this morning. here is chris. >> chris: first alert traffic is sponsored by toyota of north charlotte. you may remember yesterday morning we were telling you about a lane closure on inbound still working this morning to repair whatever is leaking in terms of water on to independence inbound so one lane closed there on the right hand side. it is early, no problems now but you might want to think about central avenue, monroe road, randolph road as alternates to make your way in center city as we head in the heart of the rush hour. this is a live look from briar creek, no problems there with travel heading inbound and taking a look here across the charlotte area, most of us running in the green this morning. that is a check of your morning commute. john, back over to you. >> john: on your side investigating a project that a lot of you continue to talk about. >> christine: you have told us to ask more questions about the planned i-77 toll lanes so our investigative reporter traveled all the way to chicago where one expert says drivers there have learned the hard way what happens when private companies get to set the price you pay for tolls. wbtv, is next. >> john: next at 5:30, more bitter cold temperatures this morning. they will hit you the moment you walk out the door. coming up, also tracking another potential winter storm, it could get sloppy. >> christine: if you're just waking up and joining us, school delays, avery, mitchell and watauga county schools on two-hour delay. if we get any other districtths reporting we'll bring it to you first here on wbtv. >> john: thanks for waking up with wbtv this morning i'm john carter. >> christine: happy friday, i'm christine sperow. some of you have a three day weekend with presidents day monday off, so here is meteorologist al conklin. >> al: out there this morning. starting off with the big picture showing that we have a basically moisture-starstar moisture-starved. a few flurries are within the realm of possibility including the charlotte metro area. you go wow it is snowing, a lot of that is not reaching the ground as the air is very, very dry. we have a winter weather advisory for the mountains through tomorrow morning. 2-4 inches of snow there most of it coming tonight. overcast. cloud cover keeping our temperatures up. not as cold, 32 charlotte, 24 boone, 29 hickory, 29 in monroe and close to freezing rock hill, 28 in salisbury. today, mostly cloudy skies, look for late sunshine and a few flurries possible, nothing that would accumulate with the high temperature of 42. much more important storm looming on the horizon next week. cover that in the seven day forecast. 5:30, let's talk traffic with chris. >> chris: first alert traffic sponsored by toyota of north charlotte. once again this morning, crews making repairs inbound
