>> well, charles bran lee was just three years old. when he died last wednesday. and now police have ruled his death a homicide. police say bran lee was taken to the hospital august 7 after he reportedly fell down a flight of stairs off his home in tomlinson court in severn. died pfeiffer days later at the hospital. workers at the hospital though questioned whether the boy really fell, and police began to investigate. an autopsy later revealed his death was indeed a homicide. now, police believe the suspect is a 28-year-old man that was caring for the toddler at the time of the incident. >> it is heartbreaking to think that things like that would happen to kids. you know, especially with adults watching them. but that's how the world is today. it is crazy. >> now, police are not releasing the man's name or his relationship to the toddler. but they do say charges against him are pending. live here outside of anne arundel county police headquarters. myranda stephens, fox 45 news "late edition". >> high school sophomore will be tried as an adult for attempted murder. 15-year-old stan smith jr. struck his stepfather twice with a bat. according to police. during a fight over his curfew. he was first charged as a juvenile but the changes were made. after state's attorney review. >> elderly man is recovering from a beating that occurred this morning in south baltimore. police say it is a hate crime. police have arrested calvin lockler. investigators say he beat the man then stole his car. police found the vehicle and lockler in the 4900 block of wright avenue. the car was equipped apparently with low jack. two other suspects are still on the loose and tonight police explain why they are calling the attack, racially motivated. >> during the interview today. the suspect admitted he does not like african-americans. and we are thus treating it as a hate crime. the interviews are still going on. we are trying to determine who the other two suspects were involved in this. and that's where we are. >> tonight mayor sheila dixon calls this assault senseless. she is thanking police for a quick first arrest. and there is a promise from the city tonight to do everything possible be to catch the other two suspects. >> a saturday night shooting at the inner harbour is raising questions about police tactics. police commissioner bealefield said more officers are not needed but that police at the inner harbour should be especially aggressive. also said gang members should be obvious and easily identifiable. >> i don't just need men and women in uniform standing around, twirling bantoons. i need men and women that are vigilant, proactive, and engaged. >> that is exactly profiling. i mean you have the confrontational approach. resistance on the part of the people being confronted. so i can see that there might be some issues. >> there is also talk tonight of a possible curfew at the inner harbour now. city watch camera helps to convict a woman for a shooting that happened two years ago. 28-year-old kia "w00t" 10 got in a fight on the 300 block of north eutaw street in august of 2007. she pulled a gun from a car and fired a man. no one came forward in the case. video was the only witness. traditional medicare and let the lowest cost plan, that is still meets the requirements that we have for medicare, let the lowest cost plan win. >> new insurance industry research found medicare advantage patients ended up in the emergency room 27 percent less often than other medicare recipients. but president obama remains focused on terminating the program. and in spite of intense lobbying liberal lawmakers recently wrote a letter to health and human services secretary cath lisa billion yus saying the public option is key. and nancy pelosi say the public option will be part of the house version. >> it is a deal breaker because the whole idea behind health care reform is to bring down the cost. we cannot bring down the cost unless there is a public option. >> that brings us now to the and steady. looking at those temperatures across the mid-atlantic. 75 in harrisburg. 73 new york city. 77 out at the airport. and looking at 85 degrees in richmond. we have a little cooler air back to the northwest behind a front. this is a very interesting front. because there is a cold front associated with a warm front and when we have that kind of working the way in with unstable air ahead of it. gives showers and thunderstorms firing up along there. front is stretching down here. thin line of thunderstorms through central ohio. southern indiana. earlier today we saw all of that activity firing up the storms here. this activity will continue to move across the state and head off to the east. go out to the tropics. talk about what's going on with hurricane bill. i misspoke and called it bob earlier. i meant bill. strong category 2 storm right now. this storm, or actually has just upped. look at this. just in the last about five minutes. category 3 now. category 3. this is real time data coming in. upped winds 127 miles an hour. up to 155. so this is a dangerous storm at this time. as we continue to see it tracking up toward the northwest. track of the storm right now taking it to a category 4. as we get into thursday night and friday. and then it looks like it will be west of bermuda. those folks have to be watching it closely. and it could make landfall as a category 3 or strong category 2, up toward nova scotia. but off the coast of mid-atlantic. by about 150, 200 miles with a potential, as we see the storm, track north. we have to watch it closely. because it could travel further west or east. back to our forecast. looks like start out the skies tomorrow morning clear. and in the afternoon, showers and thunderstorms firing up. as we see the instability coming up from the south. warm temperatures wrapping in ahead of the system. so we will continue to stay on the warm side of things for the next couple of days. front won't push through the area. just instability to create thunderstorms in the area. 92 tomorrow. 90 on thursday. and 90 on friday. and then saturday and sunday. temperatures in the 80s. and we have chances for showers and thunderstorms
