and the light rail is on schedule. on the marc trains, on time service, no delays on the penn, camden and brunswick lines right now. and we have on the buses, the 15 bus with a 15-minute delay. 10, 30 buses is diverting at pratt. the 91 bus is diverting at fayette and eutaw due to construction. with the m.t.a. transit team, i'm kurt kroncke. now back to john collins. good morning, john. >> kurt, thanks a lot. we take a look at our h.d. doppler radar. kind of a wide view, because nothing's going on here. a little weather disturbance right over the far eastern tip of maine. spinning around, producing a few little scattered showers, and the air flow around that is pushing some air over the great lakes, producing to what amounts to a lake effect rain shower up there just to the east of rochester, new york. moisture from hermine, what's left of that tropical weather feature, has now worked itself into the mississippi valley and parts of the ohio river valley, right where they come together there in western kentucky and tennessee. and this is our next weather feature that may produce some rain for us eventually. it's a cold front, pushing showers and thunderstorms now into the dakotas and parts of nebraska. eventually that moves in here and gives us a chance for some relief from this dry weather we've had. speaking of dry weather, we have now been 17 days without any rain. a couple of days we've had trace amounts. the last measurable rain was .9 of an inch on august 23, and we've had some hot weather in there and everything else, so everything's turning out like straw on the lawn and whatnot, so we really could use some rain. we have a few clouds around the area this morning, and that's about it. they're not rain makers, just strat us, and they're kind of connected to that disturbance in parts of new england. we also see clouds in eastern kentucky and tennessee, and that's related to that moisture trouble. but we're kind of in the sweet spot here, high pressure giving us dry conditions and cool weather in some cases. white marsh is 61. cockeysville, 59. columbia is 59. catonsville, 61. 62 at pasadena. across the bay at rock hall, the temperature is 61, as well as chester town. here's the high pressure that's keeping us dry with moisture off to the southwest and up in new england. and here's the cool front that oovept we'll will come into the area. kind of combined with this weather out of the plains states and bring us a chance for some rain. but a couple of days from now, today just a few scattered shouds, and the sun will be the dominant feature. breezy yesterday. cooler than normal with a high of only 74 to 79. northwest winds at 10 to 15, a few of the gusts could be stronger from time to time. 7:23 this evening, sunset. a little earlier each day, if you have a project outside, you have to finish up sooner. you look at our futurecast, saturday evening, we're good until then. by saturday evening, we begin to see the weather system come in from the west. so we begin to pick up some clouds saturday night, early sunday, and then on again, off again through at least the early part of sunday, and probably throughout a good chunk of the day, we could see scattered showers, maybe even a thunderstorm until late in the day when that cold front passes through. so here's a look at our forecast. again, 77, the high today. 80 tomorrow. both days look great. and sunday, we may see some sun, but i think we'll see a lot of clouds with a fairly decent chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. sunday's high near 80 degrees, and a bit more humid with that moisture moving in. monday and tuesday both look a little warmer than usual, mid 80's for highs. and then at the end of the week, we cool down a bit, back into the 70's for highs. but once we get through with this rain chance on sunday, next week looks dry. >> all right, john, thank you. a couple of war veterans are spending their 9/11 saturday running for a reason. they call themselves the freedom team of wounded veterans. >> they're spread out across the country, including south florida. they have i don't ever come major obstacles in life. -- they have overcome major obstacles in life. >> we inspire each other. >> former marines who faced a number of challenges, but some of the toughest off the battlefield. >> i have been diagnosed 22 years now, i didn't think that that would be the way my life was going to go. >> but he didn't let it get him down. >> got to peck yourself up by the belt loops and move. >> and move he does, with the help of this bike, his wheels are still turning, allowing him to compete in marathons. >> i logged over 2,000 miles on my bike, physically, mentally, it changed my life around. >> and helping him along the way is fellow freedom vet, david mccourt. >> my story really begins on 9/11, 2001. that particular day, my wife and daughter were on flight united 175 to l.a. >> that ill-fated flight careened into the south tower of the world trade center. >> it was like my heart and soul were ripped from my body. and i felt i was being held hostage to the tragedy. >> trapped in his own marathon of anger, mccourt slowly made strides, finally finding some comfort running with his comrades. >> they give me the courage to go on and the courage to fight and keep going. >> overcoming life's obstacles, one mile at a time. they now have their sights set on a marathon in costa rica. the date, this saturday, september 11. >> just a reminder that we all experience tragedy in some form or another. and it's how we get through it and how we approach it. >> and that was our report. the time is 5:50, 61 degrees on tv hill. there's so much more ahead. >> including a look at one of your answers to our water cooler question of the day. >> here's a look at last knit's winning maryland lottery numbers. >> this week was a very special, but very painful one, for the family of kyron moreman. >> yesterday was his eighth birthday, but the little boy with the very big smile still nowhere to be found. >> for kyrom moreman parents, this should have been a day of celebration. it's instead, it's an especially painful time if an ongoing nightmare that's already lasted more than three months. >> i can't sleep. nights are restless. all day, the days i'm thinking about, still him coming home and his birthday obviously, just can't stop thinking about him. >> kyron's classmates started third grade with new video security systems in place to reassure anxious parents. >> they should come to school and get back into their routine and feel comfortable with that. >> investigators say the case has not yet gone cold, but so far, the most extensive search in state history has yielded few clues. no arrests have been made. >> it's hard for us, but we understand the message. they have to make a solid case before they can, you know, make any arrests or anything like that. >> kyron's parents believe his stepmother is directly involved in the boy's disappearance says and her friend also knows more than she has revealed. >> cooperate. do what you need to do. come forward. >> terry moreman's lawyer has described the speculation about her as a witch hunt. through her attorney, she denied any involvement. >> as a mom of two young boys, you feel for that family. >> firefighters and volunteered took down kyron's wall of scommope moved it off campus, but this community hasn't forgotten and continues to hope for his safe return. >> i have an 8-year-old boy. and it hurts. >> a federal judge in california dechairs the u.s. military's ban on openly gay service members unconstitutional. the u.s. district court judge, virginia phillips, says she will grant a request for an injunction, halting the government's don't ask, don't tell policy for gays in the military. she believes the policy does not help military readiness and instead has a direct and deleterious effect on the armed services. government lawyers argue phillips lacks the authority to usual a nationwide injunction and believes this issue should be dealt with by congress. and that brings us to one of your answer toss our water cooler question of the day. >> this morning, we asked, do you agree that the military's don't ask, don't tell policy is unconstitutional? >> james in owings mills writes, i had my personal opinion on this issue, but i see the dilemma of a judge deciding this issue. can a soldier be a homosexual or lesbian and do the job sense there is no proof they cannot, then any law saying they cannot is unconstitutional, regardless of how we feel. keeping emailing those responses to watercooler@wbaltv.com. we'll read more the next hour and post them all on the front page of our website. >> here's a look ahead to the next hour. >> more certainly was a nice day yesterday, and it looks like we'll do it again today with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. our insta-weather forecast is just ahead. >> and we start the 6:00 hour with no incidents or accidents to report. just one closure, and we'll have a that. everyone knows a fee is a tax. you raised some taxes during that period, particularly the property tax as well as a lot of fee increases. as you know, there's a big difference between fees and taxes. but...they're the same. it's a tax. it's a tax. it's a tax. it's a tax. there's a big difference between fees
