of police impersonation. >> this time the suspect scammed an elderly man out of $1,000. here's kai reed. >> i thought it was legitimate, and he took me for $3,000. >> george johnson was raking leaves in his northwest baltimore home when two well dressed men in suits walked toup him claiming to be police officers. >> they had pictures of people they were looking for. i thought they were legitimate, so i let them in. >> they said they were looking for a bank robber and counterfeit money. they said they had a warrant and wanted to see the serial numbers on his cash. >> this is the money. they natched it. i tried to hold on to if. they left. i'm 75, and i'm not as quick as i used to be, you know. johnson was recovering from kidney cancer surgery and he knew he was not strong enough to chase them for his $3,000. >> i'm grateful i have my life. nobody harmed me. they could have stabbed me or done anything like that, and i could have died in here. i'm thankful to be alive. my point is, i'm followed by three years of supervised release. he plead guilty to recruit officers to participate in a scheme. he's the 10th officer to be sentenced. >> a verdict in the robo-call trial of julius henceon. he was found guilty of conspiracy that prosecutors say were designed to keep african-american voters away from the polls during the gubetorle election. he was also accused of voter suppression. >> the most serious charge was the charge to keep african-american voters home. i think the state's own witness showed and proved as a result of the robe owe calls, it -- robo calls it motivated teem to vote. >> orioles are taking things a bit too far. one guy was tackled at home plate by an ump. police are stepping up security to prevent a repeat. lowell melzer has more from camden yards. >> everybody loves a clown. last year situations like this, fans running on the field at camden yards were probably more event stangetange than the game itself, given the orioles record at the time. >> puts it into the left center field. that ball is back near the ball, and good-bye home run! >> cut to this year, and the orioles are winning, and fans are still daring enough to run on the field. >> it may seem like a fun, harmless stunt, but it is a real security risk. >> kevin cummings, director of ball park on rages at camden yards is not amused. >> the players are working. this is their workplace. anyone who would come into a workplace and be a disruption like that is not welcome. >> in response to the on field fiascos this year, the orioles have hired a private security company to assist police who will make themselves known in between innings. the long and short of it being, if someone runs on the field, they will be able to surround the person, and police can catch them. >> without going into great detail of what will happen, if and when someone decides to partake on the field, we will do our best to minimize their time on the field and give a very prompt response. >> that also means, once a fan is caught, not only will they be banned from camden yards for life, but the orioles have taken a stance that violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. >> it is a crime, advertise a disruption, and it is a serious security risk. some of the steps we are taking are getting us in line with the industry standard. >> i'm lowell melzer, annapolis. the main entre on the session menu involves taxes. it involves income taxes with individuals making more than $100,000 a year. a reduction in some tax exemptions will be discussed. it is expected to generate $247 million in revenue. special session begins monday at 10 clock. >> before governor o'malley convenes a special session, he's scheduled to discuss same sex marriage. he signed a wide view. you can see in the midwest, around chicago, milwaukee, down south and tennessee, mississippi, alabama, and back into arkansas, there are scattered showers and thunderstorms this morning. 4-year-old son. she with her son appeared on the "today" show to defend the provocative story. some say the photo goes too far, but she said she hopes it shows that breast feeding beyond babyhood is for rain some where. >> taking a look at our top stories, the investigation is underway in what sparked a house fire. sky team 11 was over the scene around the 900 block of chester road. crews had to climb to the roof of the building to knock down the flames. the fire was weighted primarily in the atic. it took us 45 minutes to get everything under control. no one was hurt. >> a howard county grand jury has aindicted an elk rifment. dge man accused of the 1991 murder of his wife. robert jarratt faces first-degree murder charges. he sits inside the howard county detention center on no bail. he reported her missing saying she walked away from their home. authorities found the remains of christine jarratt in concrete under the floor board of the shed in his back yard. maryland transportation officials have shut down the ramp from the 65 outer loop to northbound 895. that's exit 8. we're told crews will be performing bridge work and lighting repairs on the ramp. closed until noon. >> a four-year battle is over this morning when a jury says a bank took advantage of a person. i-team reporter barry sims has that story. >> the jury rejected the mortgage broker's claims and decided the owner of this house never should have received those two loans. >> i can't explain it. a real ti -- dennis holiday is having to leave the place he lived for 50 years. it is in foreclosure. he went to court and says the battle over a couple mortgage loans has been worse than a nightmare. >> i was nervous. i've been through it so long, i'm numb to it. >> his lawyer says he was seeking security in retirement and was enticed into taking out one loan in october 2006 and another five months later. >> what this case is about, in a nutshell, is a licensed maryland mortgage broker arranged two loans that the jury in anne arundel county this week found to be unfair and deceptive under maryland law for mr. holiday. they were not appropriate nor suitable for his circumstances. >> he said his client could afford the original mortgage, but agreed to two payment option loans. >> $2,000 mortgage. he now has a mortgage of $460,000. >> the lawyer says a reverse mortgage would have been better but was never offered. the jury agreed the broker violated consumer protection, settlement fees protection laws, and awarded him $428,000 in damages. >> very generous. >> they contacted the moort broker. he said on the advice of his attorney, he declined comment. robinson says there is a message with this case. >> we want people to trust but verify. get a second opinion. >> the mortgage broker that appealed the case, robinson does not think it will be reversed on appeal. reporting from annapolis, barry sims, wbal-tv 11 news. >> a federal judge is refusing to throw out charges in the john edwards criminal trial. the prosecutors tried to prove edwards intentionally violated the law. after 2 1/2 hours of arguments, judge eagle ruled the government had met its burden under the law saying, quote, we will let the jury decide. >> he knows that he committed a number of sins and then lied about them. the other problem for edwards is that the jury may not know all the context of campaign finance law. they may not know this is not the typical corruption case. >> a defense team will call its first witness monday. there is still a strong possibility that edwards and his mistress, real hunter, could still be called to testify. >> prince william and the duchess of camebridge showing their support behind the athletes. >> recognizing children in need of a home. to see high, thin clouds to the west, and that's running ahead of this storm system. what's going to keep the storm away and to some extent tomorrow is this big area of high pressure. it will be moving east during the day today. by tomorrow it will be out over the ocean. that will allow this to get closer to us. the key is, will it be clouds tomorrow or will some of this rain come into the
