The eight year veteran of the Newport News Police force is charged with felony destruction of property and misdemeanor this is 30 Year Old Police officer laila underwood. Her husband 32 year old Kevin Underwood who told police they had a fight, filed the complaint saying she assaulted him, broke his car windows, and damaged his property tuesday night. Two sides to every story, kevin got arrested too. No booking photo but laila claims kevin assaulted her and used abusive language. The domestic situation reported by a third party. Laila underwood is on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation. A Granby High School student is in custody after officers say they found a gun inside the school. Someone told Norfolk Police and School Security a student was inside a classroom with a concealed gun. Police found the 17yearold, and recovered the gun. No one was hurt. Charges are pending.
