He entered a plea in the room this afternoon. The judge gave him three years probation and ordered him to pay a 2500 fine. The violations were found during a department of revenue investigation into the penny tax program. Voters remember post pass that program in 2012 while washington was chairman of the city council. He was arrested on tax charges week ago, they replaced him with the vice chairman of the board. Today, he pleaded guilty for failing to file taxes. Washington was arrested as former councilmember newman. The very same day he was arrested. He paid 10,000 in fines and legal fees. He is no longer on probation at this point because he was able to pay off all of the money. Since then, newman has stepped down as chairman of the board and the state Supreme Court has suspended his law license indefinitely. Until more money is available, the dot says they will be focusing on the 300 bridges and the state that are functionally deficient. Who sits back and prioritizes the needs of the state .
