happened across from the rutgers newark campus on central avenue in newark. >> reporter: good morning, police want to stress they do not believe rutger students to be in danger this morning, crime scene has wrapped up the investigation here, what we have learn second that a rutger student was shot and killed overnight. another man is now in critical condition. this happened across the street from the rutgers newark campus. police and rutgers police were shots were fired in the second floor apartment of 28 central avenue. when police responded a was found bleeding inside the apartment and died at the hospital. a second man was found outside on the street, in critical condition this morning, both men are in their 20s. 3 people were taken in to custody about an hour and a half later and questioned by police. police are looking for two men this morning, both described to be hispanic 5'9", scene leaving the scene here. police issued an advisory to all students to let them know what took place. they do not believe this to be an ra dom act or other students are in danger. more coming up in the next half hour. investigators are looking in to a plane crash that left a on long island. planes crashed after 7:00 last night before skiding to a stop. officials say that the pilot was circling back to bay portlanding strip after losing power. firefighters rushed to the scene to pull the pilot and passenger out of the wreckage. >> this is nothing short of -- we are talking about a sunday evening 7:00 p.m., clearly that could be people out and about. >> 35 year old pilot is treated for a head injury and two broken legs , the 65-year-old passenger suffered a head injury but considered not serious. investigation is underway after a teenager was slashed in the face in upper manhattan. 19 year old was slashed across the face after 10:30 last approached the victim before attacking him and running off. he was taken to the hospital and expected to be okay. one week from in their 20s, seen running from the scene here after shots were fired inside a second floor apartment off of rutgers newark campus, a rutgers student was shot and killed, another man is in critical condition. this happened before 10:00, newark police and rutgers police were called here, the shots were fired inside 28 central avenue, just upstairs from a the student died at university hospital. a second man not affiliated with the university was found outside on the street and in morning, both of the victims are in their 20s, this investigation continues, police are now issuing a warning to the rutgers students on campus, letting them know what was happening but do not believe any of them to be in danger this morning. three people were taken in to custodies they are now being questioned.
