are in the 30s and 40s. 43 in central park, 36 in below freezing are monticello, sussex. morristown just up to 32 degrees. this cold start will lead warmer conditions this afternoon. we're going for a high of 56 in the city, sunshine mixing with some clouds and then first pitch for game 4 of the world series, 54 degrees. i think we'll drop down to 52 by the 9th inning, coming up, it's an exciting morning. not only do we have the mets baseball happening but we're also talking halloween trick or treating forecast and of course the tcs new york city marathon tomorrow morning 24 hours away. you've never seen anyone happier about that forecast than yours truly. i'll have the accuweather seven- day in a few minutes york. let's start with what everyone's going to be talking about today, the hometown advantage proved to be just what the mets needed to begin leveling things out for the world series this time around. last night an incredible game, they just shut down, beat down those kansas city royals. city commoners if you asked me. final score 9-3. sports anchor rob powers has the highlights >> the first world city game at citi field turns into the first world series win. bottom of the 2nd inning, down 1-0 david wright, long ball, it's a 2-run home run. the mets have the lead. kansas city would regain the lead. the mets go long ball again, curtis granderson with another 2-run home run. the mets are back in front. noah syndergaard kept it that way, power pitching 90s. david wright another couple rbi with a base hit and the mets are on the board. they win game 3, 9-3. still down 2-1 but a chance to even the series later tonight >> this game is just as important as the previous one. to get this one is a good thing for us >> i was able to stay locked in for the entire game, just tried to keep it simple. me and travis out there >> running around the bases is just like floating. you can't describe the excitement of hitting the home run, crossing home plait, high fiving your teammates, looking in the stands and seeing people go absolutely nuts >> trying to follow up last night's win, steven matz pitches game 4 of the world series and the mets try to even things up. >> with citi field now hosting the world series, the only people more excited than the players are the anxious mets fans. today that energy is sweeping right now. mallory hoff joins us live from citi field with more on this awesome story >> mets fans waking up feeling very, very good this morning. the goal now of course to even things up. game 4 will be played here at citi field tonight, starts at 8:07. i do want you to take a look at this video from last night, really incredible how into this the fans are. in the hours leading up to the game, time square was transformed. you can see orange and blue flooding the area, mets towels were handed out to fans. city bikes were decorated with mets spirit as well. meanwhile at mcfadden's in midtown, mets fans were in it to win it. they came to the mets bar to support their team. that's exactly what they did. their energy and enthusiasm could not be missed >> i feel like as a collective group as new yorkers we have to make a lot of noise to support the squad >> they're going to do the same thing they did in 86. they're going to win the next four games >> and mets fans tell us they hope that playing here at citi field will do the dressed as mets players to show their support for the amazins last night. they welcomed hundreds of children and their parents for a really nice halloween celebration. the party included face feared dead after a rushing passenger plane crashed in egypt shortly after takeoff. air bus a321 disappeared from >> the two men were arguing near a residence hall when things escalated and got physical. at one point one of the men pulled a knife >> i saw them sitting on a couch. they seemed casual and all of a sudden they got up and started yelling at each other. it was like a big fighting match and it started to get physical, then yeah. it was like a knife fight >> both men suffered stab wounds. no word yet on their condition. it is also unclear whether or not they are students at rutgers. the university campus is preparing for a visit from president obama monday we're now learning more couple in connecticut. we just learned police are charging their son and his girlfriend in their murders. and the medical examiner confirms the two bodies found couple. jeffrey and jeanette navin were last seen back in august. their remains were discovered vacant home inweston. kyle navin is being charged with two counts of murder. charges. his girlfriend is now charged with conspiracy to commit murder it was a scary ride for people on an mta bus when a bullet shattered two windows along a route in brooklyn. >> area surveillance video captured the moment bus b13 pulled up to the stop at wykoff and green avenues yesterday. seconds later four men are seen dashing away. one passenger says one of the men fired his gun at another man. a bullet then pierced the bus sending glass flying before it blasted through another window. >> very quick, very quick. >> boom boom boom >> had anybody been sitting where that bullet exited that person would have been dead. it was face level and it would have taken somebody's life >> one woman on that bus was scratched up by shards of village halloween parade and the tcs new york city marathon. a full docket for police. the department is deploying 1800 officers and also setting up thousands of barricades for the marathon, and on halloween added security worries now after an fbi warning about an anarchist group that says it plans to ambush cops on this holiday. officials here are down playing concerns about that. >> the group that's mentioned in that threat has no nexus to new york city in terms of its past involvement or past actions. >> marathon weekend kicked off with the parade of nations featuring 1300 delegates representing about 130 countries, always a cool event. and that was followed by another spectacular marathon tradition fireworks that lit up the skies over central park. now to add to security concerns we mentioned a few minutes ago president obama will be in our area again on monday as if we needed something else going on in the tri-state area. what a weekend. >> they came after the pope. the mets it was about as close as it gets. no team has ever overcome a 3- games to none deficit to win the world series and new york did not exactly want to attempt to become the first as the mets giants. yesterday he spoke about his return from a 4th of july fireworks accident that left his right hand mangled. jpp just began working out with the team wednesday. he's hopeful he'll be able to mean. but as far as like my hand goes, you know, i'll get used to it. and i'm not going to put myself in jeopardy. >> the lone star state has not been kind to brooklyn as of late. san antonio in particular, in fact, the spurs went into last night having won 12 in a row at home over the nets and 40 out of the last 45. last night brooklyn trying to change that, and crash san antonio's home opener, tim duncan, he's the ageless wonder, 15 points for him, two right there in the first quarter. brook lopez led way. he led all scorers with 17 points. the nets led in the 2nd. all that changed after the break. san antonio went on quite a run, patty mills, his own triple right there, 102-75. the spurs once again roll. it has been a quiet week for the rangers who beat calgary at home back on be scary. >> taking their microphones to the street. good stuff, happy halloween everyone. 43 degrees what we have right now outside. it's a mix of sun and clouds and although temperatures are mild and winds are light, as we get into the afternoon we could still remain below average, normal high this time of year is 59. yesterday we had low 60s, felt pretty good. sunrise officially at 7:24. sunset 5:55. important to note drivers there will be lots of ghosts and goblins around tonight. take your time and beware there. temperatures in the low 40s for commack. hampton bay at 45 degrees. temperature's about 10. 15 degrees cooler than yesterday at the same time. we were way mild yesterday. we're starting in the 60s in some places. right now 20s and 30s typical start, more mild for some be done, and they're very excited about game 4 tonight, which of course will be played here, but i do want to take you back to last night. take a look at this video. you've got some very excited fans piazza traveled on this very decked out water taxi. he predicted his team will rally. >> just eight years here was something i can't describe, the energy and the way -- it's like family now. every time i come back here it's like coming back home. >> reporter: mets fans now certainly hoping for a halloween night win. they say after they saw last night they have the confidence that their team can do it. live from citi field, mallory hoff channel 7 eyewitness news. >> got to believe. >> all right mallory, thank you. now we turn to that deadly collapse at a construction site here in manhattan. a stop work order has now been issued against the in charge of that site. the building's on 38th street in midtown. it was in the process of getting demolished when the collapse suddenly happened yesterday. one construction worker was killed. firefighters rescued another worker who was trapped in debris for more than three hours. he is in serious condition. 6:36. police in westchester county are offering a reward to catch whoever destroyed part of a premier basketball facility. it happened at the 4th street playground in mount vernon. a car drove over damaging the new mats on the basketball courts. it's hard to believe a car would do that much damage. they were just installed last month, and police promised to find the culprit. >> i was heartbroken today when i came in here to see this and to know we had spent so much time, so much money, so much effort in order to redo this to >> looks like a lot more than a car did that. the city used development block grant funds for the park rehab. now taxpayers will have to pay for it if it is to be repaired. police in the bronx are hoping a sketch will lead them to a suspect wanted for an attempted rape of an 8-year-old little girl. the sketch comes on the heels of the surveillance video that we showed you earlier this week. the man approached the girl from behind as she walked into her building in mount hope on saturday. he covered her mouth and then molested her. he ran away when she started screaming. also, some sad news this morning that 7-year-old little girl from brooklyn who choked on a sandwich at school last week has passed away. noelia-lisa echavarria was 1st grader. she'd been on life support since choking while eating lunch at ps250 in williamsburg. an investigation has been launched. the city's education department swiftly to the emergency. this morning a church congregation in new jersey is mourning the sudden loss of a respected pastor who was found dead inside his church. 51-year-old reverend ronald christian died yesterday in the christian love baptist church in irvington. reverend christian was a former heroin addict who turned his life around 18 years ago. he spent the rest of his life helping others. foul play is not suspected in his death. cute story of the morning here, president obama was visited by the pope yesterday at the white house. not the real pope of course, an adorable toddler, though, dressed as the pontiff and being pushed in his own pope mobile attended the first family's halloween party. that's adorable. the president -- look at that. the president was so taken with the pint sized pontiff he turned to reporters and declared, "top prize." the kid was one of hundreds chosen from local schools and military families to trick or treat at the white house. very, very cool. >> super cute. it looks like they had like part of me like cookie pops from the first lady. >> yes. >> healthy i'm sure. >> i always like to see exactly, you know, don't goive me broccoli. don't give me broccoli on a stick on halloween. i don't even want any popcorn. >> no, skittles please. >> trick or treat. gorgeous moon overnight, really fantastic. skies are mostly clear here in the city, that's how we can see this so well. 43 degrees is the temperature, wow, what a shot, right, on halloween. looking over the river right now from brooklyn into lower manhattan, we get decent skies to start off. humidity 58%, northwest winds 58 miles per hour. we'll see those winds settling down nicely into the southwest wind flow. that's going to be important looking at the park. that helps the ball to sail out to right center field, so it's going to be really a beautiful night for baseball. watch these numbers, 30s and 40s in and around the city. the suburbs, below freezing for monticello, poughkeepsie and andover. these numbers are go to the low 50s. a little below average for this time of the year. hardly a cloud in the sky. we'll see increasing clouds. for trick or treaters, it's going to be cool, calm, it's not as gusty tonight. the winds are blowing in the well. much nicer this year for the marathon than it was last year. we could get a drip or drizzle of rain. a majority of the waves start if you're waiting in staten island for the race to begin, you definitely want to have a little breaking news and an update at 7. the pilot of the russian airliner that crashed in egypt reported technical problems before losing contact with air traffic controllers. actually, it took off from egypt. once the pilot detected an issue, he said he would attempt a landing at the nearest airport. the flight disappeared off radar 23 minutes after taking off in egypt. its wreckage has been found in egypt's sinai peninsula where the nation is fighting an islamic insurgency. the flight was on its way to st. petersburg in russia. the 224 people who were on that plane are unfortunately feared rain, and it's a go. everything's looking good as the sun tries to come up here this morning, the skies are looking decent. in fact, blue skies greet us with 43 degrees in central park, and we'll see increasing clouds throughout the afternoon. temperature change is pretty significant. we're cooler this morning than we were yesterday at the same time by several degrees. right now we're in the 30s and 40s for long island. if we look at the change, it's anywhere between 10 to 20 degrees colder so we take 20 degrees off poughkeepsie. it's chilly out there in spots. the day turns out to be fairly decent. coming in. it turns out southwest by the afternoon. we go from sub freezing temperatures to the north and 30s and 40s through the city and down the jersey shore into the mid-50s. that will keep us slightly the year. right through the afternoon we get a high of 56 here in the city. coming up in just a few minutes, we'll talk what's expected for it's pretty good running weather. we'll fire erupted at a packed nightclub in romania killing 27 and hurting nearly 200. a heavy metal band's pyrotechnics sparked an inferno inside of the basement of a club in bucharest. the crowd of 400 people panicked at the site of flames and rushed the club's only exit door, which was on another floor. witnesses say people were trampled while others fainted from the smoke from those pyrotechnics and the ensuing fire. also developing overseas, 15 people included four people were killed when a fire ripped through the marketplace in the philippines. the fire touched off in the early morning hours in southern manila what sparks shot from an electric post. flames spread to stacks of clothing and ignited stalls where vendors and their the son of a connecticut couple whose bodies were found this week has now been charged with their murders. the medical examiner has confirmed the bodies found buried in the backyard of ava continue home in westin were those of jeffrey and jeanette navin. state police say 27-year-old kyle navin, their son, is now being charged with two counts of murder. he is already in custody on separate gun charges. meanwhile his girlfriend, 31- year-old jennifer valiante is charged with conspiracy to commit murder. a woman is recovering after she was hit by flying glass when a bullet went through the window of an mta bus in brooklyn. surveillance video captured the moment bus b13 pulled up to the stop yesterday. seconds later four men dash away in the video. one passenger says one of the men fired his gun at another man, a bullet pierced the bus the place before it blasted through another window. >> very quick, very quick. >> boom boom boom. >> that's it. >> had anybody been sitting when that bullet exited that person would have been dead. >> police are searching for the person who opened fire. well, quite a weekend ahead for the nypd to say the least. police are now tightening up security as they deal with several huge events around town. the world series of course, the big halloween parade in the village and the tcs new york city marathon tomorrow. the department is deploying 1800 officers and setting up thousands of barricades for the marathon and on halloween added security worries of course after an fbi warning about an anarchist group that says it plans to ambush cops on this halloween holiday. police are down playing concerns about that threat. >> the group that's mentioned new york city in terms of its past involvement or past actions. >> marathon weekend kicked off with the parade of nations featuring 1300 delegates countries. that was followed by another spectacular marathon tradition over central park. we've still got an influence of a cool breeze and that keeps our temperatures limited. we are dry and mild going into the evening. i think you can get away with no coats on the costumes. southwest wind that's light that actually will take the ball towards right, right that's pretty good news, much york city marathon. no one is happier than me. not only are we going to see temperatures mild but mostly dry during the race. east coast, wall to wall sunshine, a few clouds increasing for tonight. there could be a spotty shower. early tomorrow morning, little spotty rain, a little drip or drizzle early on. keep in mind most of the runners begin after 10 a.m. and then they run right through the afternoon to early afternoon. so mostly dry and 63 is what we'll take for temperatures, maybe even pushing the mid-60s in some spots. mostly sunny, increasing clouds, 56. now tonight first pitch 8:07, 54 degrees at the ballpark, southwest winds 6 to 12 miles an hour. we'll see clouds that have increased as well hanging over the stadium. overnight we'll be cloudy with light winds, 50 degrees and that spotty shower early tomorrow, nothing to ruin the day, nothing to affect the race. just be aware of it that it's not a worry if it happens early on. monday we could see showers showing up, especially for the late afternoon evening, then we'll start to see a major mild trend. look at that, temperatures near 70 degrees down the stretch in the accuweather seven-day forecast. we're looking at upper 60s and low 70s through next friday. one dimension, last night we were there for the opening rutgers students. this comes as the university prepares for a visit from president obama on monday 6,000 prison inmates will get their freedom. it's part of the largest convict release program. the felons are getting out as sentences are being lowered for nonviolent drug offenders across america. the largest releases in texas, florida and iowa. this release program is not just a one-time thing. over the next several years, 40,000 more inmates could be let go early as kind of the nation as this discussion about sentence -- you know, the sentences being lowered if you're not a violent spanked kansas city royals last night. they bead them by a final score of 9-3 last night in the first ever world series game at citi field. the night did belong to captain david wright. he finished the game with four rbis. he was on fire last night. it was fantastic. the mets now trail the royals still 2-1 in the series, but fans are very confident they will even things up tonight to tie this thing up at 2-2. eyewitness news reporter mallory hoff joins us live from citi field with more on how excited fans are reacting to this big w. good morning mallory. >> good morning rob. mets fans telling us last night felt very good and after what they saw last night, they believe their team can do it again here at home at citi field for game 4 tonight. i do want you to take a look at this video though from last night. you can see just how excited these fans are in the hours leading up to the game, time square was transformed. you can see orange and blue flooding the area. mets towels were handed out to fans. city bikes were decorated with mets spirit as well. meanwhile at mcfadden's mets fans were in it to win it. they came out to the midtown mets bar to support their team. that's exactly what they did. their energy and enthusiasm clearly could not be missed, and just before sunset former mets catcher mike piazza traveled on this very decked out water taxi. he predicted the after takeoff. the flight's pilot told air traffic controllers the plane, a metro jet plane was experiencing technical problems. moments later it disappeared from radar. that was 23 minutes and the plane was leaving a tourist destination right there on the coast in egypt and was bound for st. petersburg in russia. its wreckage has been located in northern sinai. a stop work order has been issued against the company in in a deadly collapse in manhattan. the building is on 38th street in midtown. it was in the process of being demolished when the unplanned collapse happened. one construction worker was killed and if firefighters rescued another worker who was trapped in debris for more than three hours. this morning he's in serious condition. a 7-year-old little girl from brooklyn who choked on a sandwich at school last week has passed away. noelia-lisa echavarria was a 1st grader. she'd been on life support since choking while eating lunch. an investigation has now been launched. the city's education department claims that faculty did respond swiftly to the emergency. police in westchester county are now offering a reward to catch whoever destroyed part of a premier basketball facility. it happened at the 4th street playground in mount vernon. a car drove over and damaged the new mats on a basketball court there. they were just installed last month. police are promising to find the culprit. >> i was heartbroken today when i came in here to see this and to know that we had spent so much time, so much money, so much efforts in order to redo these to find it in such despair. >> the community had used city development block grant funds for the park rehab but now taxpayers will have to foot the bill for the much needed repairs. president obama was visited by a
