honk their horn to get her to stop. when my officers arrived, they saw the victim underneath the car with his head protruding from the front of the car. she was turning purple and not breathing. they, with the assistant of some bystanders were able to lift the car for her to breathe. >> the nanny's name couldn't be confirmed, but declined to the driver is distraught over the accident. there's plenty of heroism to go around in this case. at 5:00, we're going to talk to the bystanders who helped lift the car at 5:00 tonight. live in rockville center, long island, nj burkett. >> what a tremendous story. in new jersey, an accident is causing problems in the palisade highway. the chopper is over inglewood cliff. the car went off exit 1. we do not how many people were in the car or the extent of any injuries, but only one northbound lane is getting through, and there are extensive delays as you can see. news copter 7 pulling back and showing that long line of cars right there. we're valley, closer to 6:00 into new york city. 7:00, it's new york city and long island and pushing east of the twin forks as we go passed 8 and 9. there's a lot of showers and thunderstorms from now until 9:00. but in any given spot, it's lasting between 15 and 30 minutes. expect brief downpours and gusty winds. as we go through tomorrow, we have a transition day. it's tomorrow night into sunday where antarctic blast comes in for april and damaging winds are a big concern later tomorrow into sunday. the weather center service putting out a high wind watch for us late tomorrow night into my nypd -- targeting elderly women in berk lynn and queen. jones has been linked to five armed attacks with his eldest victim being 91-year-old. these weren't his first crimes. he has an extensive criminal history and on the run since 2014. >> he's a violent individual. 64-years-od male with 14 prior arrest and he did 14 years in jail for the same thing. he got out in may of 2014 and committed another crime in september of 2014 in bronx on an 87-year-old. >> police believe jones is in brooklyn. they're checking homeless shelter, but so far have not found him. a new jersey man in critical condition after he was shot by police. officials releasing few details. happened inside his grandparent's home. the whole incident happening in butler. that's in morris county. i witness news reporter tim fleischer at the scene with the story. >>reporter: police in butler released no details. prosecutor's office confirmed some information. when police surrounded this small house in butler yesterday, the neighbors took notice. >> there was a lot of commotion. there was a lot -- all the neighbors were out and people coming down the street. this place was packed. >> by night fall, police surrounded a house in butler where a 23-year-old man was shot by police. according to witnesses, inside of his grandmother's home. this neighbor who did not want her face on camera saw the man brought out on a stretcher. >> when i saw him, i said he's dead and i started crying and shaking. i said the kid is dead. >> police rushed him to an ambulance into a helicopter for a flight to the hospital. investigators have not released his name. out there, so i figured it was him. >> it didn't surprise me. >> amanda went to school with the man and said he had been in trouble with the law previously. >> it is sad. i wish the best for him. i don't wish any harm on him, but it's sad that that's what he had to go through. >> the man lived with his grandparents, neighbors say. >> police were looking for him. the grandma wouldn't let them in the house. >> police won't say why the man was allegedly wanted, but officers went to the dog. the prosecutors office did confirm an incident occurred leading to a butler officer discharging his weapon. learned, the 23-year-old was shot up to three times in his chest and torso. >> he's still alive, but you never know. his condition is critical >> one neighbor said his grandmother was >> what was his grandmother >> she was on her knees and sad. where my window is, you can see in their door. she was crying. >> other than police, no one has come and gone from the home. reporting live in butler, tim fleischer. >> thank you tim. police identified the man killed after a collision with a police cruiser. police say an officer was responding to another accident yesterday when the officer collided with a car carrying 67-year-old john powerman. the accident occurred near ross and summit avenue pond. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. the crash scene the officer was heading to involved a motorcyclist who fled from police. new york police are searching for the suspect who slashed a man across the face while waiting for an a-train. it happened at the chamber street train around 5:00 this morning. police say the victim was approached by a homeless person asking for money. when he refused to give the suspect cash, he was slashed. the train station, went to work and called 911 but refused medical attention. now to the race for president and clinton is spending another day in new york. she's talking to those in sarasota. >> i night. tomorrow early evening isn't a problem. it's really if you're out later tomorrow night. we turn sharply colder and strong winds develop. if not damaging winds. and rain goes to snow showers. wind chills on sunday could be in the 20s. at 5:30, a lot of things to tell you about the sunday weather map. will these winds will be damaging across the area. we have a high wind watch in effect.
