Firefighters battling a massive Industrial Park fire in new jersey. Flames and heavy black smoke seen for miles. Good evening at 6 00 oclock, im bill ritter. Im liz cho. The fire closed route 206 in the commute home amid worries of air quality in the area. Toni yates is in the area, and you can see the flames still very fierce. Reporter hi, were at duke farms, this was an estate that used to be owned by doris duke, and ill step out of the way so you can see this, this is only a few hundred yards away from us, those flames have only gotten higher in the area we can see. The folks at duke farms say the facility on fire is called belle meade, and its owned by the federal government, some of the buildings are leased out to other government interests. Possibly be contained right now from what were seeing, but were told its not under control, but its contained meaning its not threatening homes or businesses in the area. People have been warned to do whatever they can not to breathe this smoke thats billowing out, not necessarily because there are dangerous chemicals stored over there, but simply because the smoke is very thick and not healthy or good to breathe. Route 206 in the area was closed partially when we got here. I imagine its more extensively closed at this point, so avoid the area as much as possible, and its too early at this point to talk about a cause of this fire. I know that there are several Fire Departments called to the scene to try and help local Fire Departments get this fire under control and knocked down, so right now its still very, very much, high flames you can see there, were several hundred yards away, but my photographer is able to zoom in
