Plus more arrests of those involved in the riots. Should investigators go beyond the individuals caught on camera to the groups that spurred on the violence . We will dive into that. We have got a team of reporters covering all the latest developments n. A moment i will talk with new york congressman Shawn Patrick maloney. First we want to start with new video obtained by msnbc news that shows the shocking level of violence at capitol hill as an angry protrump mob stormed the building and took direct aim at Capitol Police. We want the warn you the video is graphic, and it is disturbing. So, you can see here rioters violently flinging flag, and crutches at Police Officers there. It got pretty hairy, appearing to try and hit them with anything that they could actually find around them. All this, of course unfolding as the crowd is yelling, with cheers in support of what was happening, and then breaking through the capitol doors. Joining me now, a former nypd detective and director of the black Law Enforcement aliance. Thank you for joining us us on this. Every day it seems like new video is emerging of what took place at the capitol. As someone tweeted out earlier, it seems like we only know 5 what have actually took place on that day because they were trying to penetrate it seems from every angle. What do you make this latest video that we are seeing so far . That video is deeply disturbing, troubling and, painful to watch. Though we are days away from the event that happened on wednesday at the Capitol Building. And i am years away from my active police service, but i still get a visceral kind of reaction looking at the vulnerability of not only the Capitol Building, but those Police Officers, those brave men and women who are attempting to hold back this how vulnerable they all are, and what they are being subjected to, no one should be subjected to, especially our Law Enforcement community. It is very troubling and hard to watch. Do you feel like they even had a chance, considering the thousands of people that were trying to get this the capitol . I mean do you think the Capitol Police, the way in which they had prepared, which was not much did they even have a chance against these guys . Not really. And they didnt have a chance because it appears that there was some complicity or some s subservients on the part of those people who were charged with the responsibility to protect, you know, our government. And even the Law Enforcement community. Listen, these organizations these Law Enforcement organizations are struggling with on one hand expressing a genuine sense of concern and even sympathy for their fallen colleagues while on the other hand waving the flags of sedition and cosigning so much of the dangerous rhetoric that led to this riotous domestic terrorism that caused death and injury. You know, there is an internal struggle. There is a battle going on within the Law Enforcement community in particular. Its about time that we had the conversation. Main lesion its between black and brown members of these Police Unions and fraternal organizations and their mainly white colleagues that have been supportive of a dangerous, seditious sadistic qanonformed movement. And this in part is the result of their complicity in this. I think as we move forward there will be much more coming out in regards to just the level of involvement of unbelievably, our Law Enforcement community, and perhaps some other individual within our very government. We are actually going to get a little bit into that later on in the show. I appreciate you bringing that up. Before i let you go, mark, as you are looking at these rioters, does this seem coordinated to you . Or does this seem emotional . It is very coordinated. There are factions within this community of rioters of sedition actors, if you will, that are very coordinated, very intentional, very deliberate, planned out, informed and educated just based on some of their comments made within their movements within the Capitol Building itself. And i think much of the planning was assisted in some way by individuals who were normally charged with protection and the preservation of human lives and the protection and the preservation of our Constitutional Values and norms. Thats what makes it even more troubling. But this isnt by accident. This is not some reaction, an emotional overtaking. This is really something that was planned, organized, incited by many people, including the president of these United States, and others. And they all should be held accountable. Got it. Its just really troubling to see. Even five days out from when it took place. Once again, to see folks trying to break through seeing th e rioters trying to break through the capitol windows, just astonishing. Mark, thanks for joining us. Appreciate it. A short time ago we saw a funeral procession making its way through washington, d. C. It carried the body of Fallen Police officer brian sicknick. He died while trying to defend the Capitol Building from rioters. Earlier today, nbc cameras caught this black bunting draping the entrance of the Capitol Hill Police department to officer sicknick. A few bouquets of flowers have been placed nearby. A go fund me for the family has been set up. Sicknick is the fifth person the die in these violent protests. Joining me are Vaughn Hillyard and josh lipton. Vaughn, you watched this procession come by. Take me through what that was like . Yasmin, i think what four days ago you and i both stood on this west front lawn here. And we watched what was happening up on that in front of those doors. And we frankly didnt know exactly what was happening. Its clear from the videos that you were showing, what is clear is the fact u. S. Police and others were trying to not only protect the Capitol Building itself but protect lives inside of it. Those individuals included brian sicknick. The individual whose procession passed just by us behind where our camera is right now. To speak from four days ago to today,is moving. There were several thousand officers as well as Capitol Police that lined the streets here between independence avenue and constitution to way their respects to the Capitol Hill Police officer, brian sicknick, who lost his live on wednesday, after 12 years serving here for the Capitol Police. Josh, i want to bring you into the conversation here. Because we have been watching the white house amidst all of that and looking for reaction to the death of officer sicknick. We are now learning of an offduty officer who lost his life who was part of the Capitol Police department. We had not really heard any reaction from the white house. Also looking a the flag flying above the white house which now, just hours ago, finally went at half staff. Thats right. In fact, we dont exactly know why that flag has been lower to half staff. Typically when the white house does order its flags ordered to half flaf there is a proclamation that accompanies it and explains why it is being done. So far, there hasnt been anything from the white house. And we asked them why the flag was lowered and whether the white house is honoring the death of officer sicknick. So far, there has been no response to that either. But we do know that Vice President mike pence, he just a couple of days ago according to a source familiar with the situation called the family of officer sicknick to offer his condolences for the slain officers death. As of now, the president has not reached out to the family. Lets talk impeachment, guys, while i have you. I want to take you through the tick to bes and reaction of the goings on of impeachment. Vaughn, you are in front of the Capitol Building. Take us through tick to be of all this. We know the articles of impeachment will be introduced tomorrow, monday. There is an urgency from nancy pelosi and particular members of congress to move forward with these proceedings. We should note catherine clark, the assistant speaker of the house, she suggested during the last 24 hours that by mid week they could potentially have the impeachment papers on the floor of the house for a vote. On the other side of the chamber in the u. S. Senate, right now, the u. S. Senate is not slated to reconvene until january 9 11. One day before Inauguration Day. In order for them to reconvene sooner it would take the vote of every single 100 senators based on the last year it is unexpected that all 100 senators would get on board to reconvene to vote for the president s impeachment. How is the white house preparing for this . The white house obviously doesnt think the president should be impeached a second time. We know there are discussions under way at this hour about who would actually serve on President Trumps defense team if the house were to move forward with impeachment proceedings. So far, not a lot of details on that, although alan dershowitz, who was part of the defense team the first time around has told reporters he doesnt expect that to come up. Meantime, the list of senators saying the president needs to be removed from office is growing. Including senator pat toomey. The best way for our country is for the president to resign and go away, as quick as possible. Doesnt look like there is much of a will or a consensus to exercise the 25th amendment option. I dont think there is time to do an impeachment. There is ten days left before the president leaves anyway. I think the best thing would be a resignation. Toomey also suggesting President Trump could face criminal liability for helping to foment the insurrection attempt we saw this week. It is not just toomey. A new nbc news up soes poll we conducted shows 56 of americans now believe that trump should be removed from office. Of course that breaks down along familiar partisan lines with 94 of democrats saying trump should be removed and only 13 of republicans saying that. Yasmin in. Vaughn, josh, thank you guys. Appreciate it. I want to where i in now democratic representative Shawn Patrick maloney of new york. Congressman, thank you for joining us on this. Really appreciate it. Good to see you. Happy to see you safe and well. I want to talk to you about a few specific thing here. I know you heard the sound from senator pat toomey. He thinks the better way forward is for the president to resign. The likelihood of that as we all know is low. But he was asked later on in the interview if he regretted supporting the president so much. I mean he was very loyal to the president for a very long time. He said the president really changed his tune after the election, kind of pushing the ball down the road in a way, avoiding the answer there. What do you make of that . What i make of it is that republicans are seeking to avoid accountability and to avoid having to stand and be counted. I appreciate senator toomeys comments. I understand why they are starting to focus on resignation, because it would allow them to side step responsibility for the 25th amendment removal option or an impeachment and conviction removal option. I think every republican needs to decide whether you are with that mob attacking Police Officers, resulting in the loss of brian sicknicks life and we lift up officer sicknick and his family. Its heart breaking to watch those scenes. We work with these people every day. We see them coming and going. They are human beings. And they were put in a situation that was horrific and unacceptable. And what these republicans are calling for is for the president to take of the out of their hands. I would be fine if the president is removed by resignation, by the 25th amendment or by impeachment. But he must be removed. He must be removed immediately. I think if we have a vote and people need to stand and be counted it is a roll call of honor or a roll call of infamy and i want to know which is standing on which side w the constitution, or with the mob. You know, when the president was being impeached the first time and we were having a conversation around the senate and talking about whether or not enough votes would come from the senate to get the president fully removed from office. There was always this thought of history will judge you, history will decide or judgment the decision which you make. It seems like that sentiment echos now more than ever. When looking a the tombline oim overall it seems like thats something that could make it more difficult. January 11th they are going to introduce the article of impeachment. January 12th or 13th the house will be expected to vote. January 19th is literally congressman the earliest the senate is going to receive this article of impeachment. Then january 20th is Inauguration Day. How are you expecting to get this done before we have the conversation as to whether or not the votes are in the senate . Lets remember where we are. I think it is useful to pull approximate lens back. The president incited violent insurrection against the United States capitol. He has ten days left in office. I am not comfortable with that. He remains a clear and present danger we beat him on election day. We beat them the day they stormed the capitol. He needs to be stopped from action. Thats the theory of the 25th amendment, that he would be removed immediately that removes him as a danger the our democracy. It doesnt seem like let me it doesnt seem like so far the Vice President is on board with that . Thats fine, but my point is is that the pressure building on them to decide, 25th amendment, impeachment, resignation is working on executive Branch Officials n the Defense Department n the Justice Department, in areas of the government that have access to Law Enforcement resources federal Law Enforcement resources, any tools that the president could yet use to undermine our democracy. Im glad military officers can refuse orders like the use of Nuclear Weapons or the starting a war. I dont put anything past this president. My point is that the point of these streams is to box him in until he can be removed. And the sooner the better. Just quick answer here, do you think the president could feasibly be removed Inauguration Day logistically . Of course. And the senate is hiding behind procedure when they could come back tomorrow if they chose to. Dont tell me they cant come back on a moments notice. This is Mitch Mcconnell being Mitch Mcconnell. Right. We are going to send articles of impeachment to them. When we do, they should act on them. And there is no excuse except their own lack of will and their own desire to kind of escape accountability when in fact history coming for all of us, as you point out. And the truth will foond you in this life or the next. You are going to have to decide my republican brothers and sisters whether you stand with that mob or whether you stand with our constitution. And they have to be accountable. Congressman, thank you. Very good to see you, by the way. Coming up at 4 00 p. M. We are going the talk to history making new york congressman money dare jones. What he is hearing on the impeachment process, plus perspective on policing during wednesdays insurrection. Also arrested the members of the protrump mob posing for pictures in the Capitol Building now posing for mug shots. This as concern is growing over what emboldened groups could be plotting next. And to all of my wonderful supporters, i know you are disappointed. But i also want you to know that our incredible journey is only just beginning. Inningsmells mor. Isnt that the dogs towel .
