For yet another day in des moines. But vaughn, the latest polls show this last minute surge for Pete Buttigieg. We talk about momentum coming out of iowa. Tell me what youre hearing from your sources on the campaign. The campaign tells me i got off the phone with them. Look, we are the candidate that has been on the ground as soon as we wrapped up the from the iowa caucus, the first event was at 7 00 a. M. , eight events that day. They even stopped up in new york for a couple of shows, like the view. Hes back on the ground for the debate this evening before the events. Its exactly what you saw from Pete Buttigieg in iowa. Holding more than 50 events, hitting every local media market he could. Trying to get on to the local newspapers and thats what theyre doing here again in New Hampshire. Heading into the iowa caucus night when you looked at the map, he was in the low Single Digits and then what did he do . Hes pulled off an iowa caucus win. Look at the recent polls that have come out in the last couple of days and hes shot up. The latest poll here showing him one point behind Bernie Sanders. Making him very much relevant here in this state. This campaign has long said once folks realize he has the opportunity to win, thats when hell expand his support. Of course well be looking in the days ahead to see what his poll numbers are particularly communities of color. Looking to see in nevada, South Carolina, whether strong support is able to propel him forward beyond. You know, his campaign put out a video last night, using his speech out of iowa where he said what was once an implausible hope became an undeniable reality. Thats what theyre hoping to pull off in New Hampshire in the final four days as well. Shaq, youre covering the sanders campaign. I think our viewers caught you sneezing or dabbing, so bless you. So talk about bernie starting his day in manchester. Hes the other guy on top of the polls. He was on kind of home turf. Elizabeth warren arguably is as well given shes in new england. Massachusetts. But tell us what sanders strategy is here moving forward. Well, the campaign is really trying to move on from what was a tight finish in iowa to what theyre admitting will be a tight race here in New Hampshire. You know, the thing in New Hampshire you just said it. Hes a neighboring senator. They feel good about their chances here but they know going into tonights debate the target will be on senator sanders. I spoke with his Campaign Manager within the past hour and i asked about that target. Are they ready for that are they ready for the tension and the question was put back to me, when has the target not been on senator sanders . That medicare for all, theres been pushback on that. You have heard that criticism of that democratic socialism he embraces. Others are projecting thats the line of attacks and saying that senator sanders is ready. The message that senator sanders is going to have today and ride through the weekend is one of consistency. When you have mayor Pete Buttigieg who is surging and Bernie Sanders trying to hang on to the first place lead, is that message of consistency enough to drive through tonights debate and into the weekend . Thats the remaining question and thats what were going to continue to watch here on the trail. And you have a lot of events coming up in the next couple of days, shaq and vaughn. I want to go to iowa though, because were talking about the two candidates. Both in what you call the virtual tie based on the 100 reporting numbers out there. But maura youve been covering this for days since the meltdown started to unfold. Heres what tom perez the chair of the dnc had to say to Rachel Maddow on this network. I want to make sure that every iowa voter knows their vote was counted and that every voter across this country knows that their vote was counted and we take the commitment to accuracy very seriously. He wants a recount. Theres a deadline for candidates to ask for that coming up mid day today. Whats your sense of whether that will happen. Hallie, im standing outside of the Iowa Democrats hq here. We havent received word on if that deadline will be pushed and were not hearing any word from the campaigns just yet. It is interesting to note that perez is calling for this recanva recanvass. He says he wants a precinct by precinct recanvass, he isnt in a position of that is right that the Iowa Democrats have to entertain because hes not working for a campaign. So its really on the campaigns to decide that they want this recanvass and two Democratic Leaders familiar with this situation tell me how close the dnc is working with the Iowa Democrats. They hired a Cyber Security consultant throughout the entire process and the dnc had hand in everything im told from contracts to Security Consultants to app approval. So all of this fallout of what perez is calling a major League Failure they should have been aware of it because they were in close contact with the iowa dems here. Great point. Great reporting. I appreciate that. Thank you. I hope we get to iowa soon and thank you all. Back here in washington, we have the other story unfolding. One of our sources tells us that a key impeachment witness is heading into that building, that campus this morning over at the white house, even on the day that two new reports say hes about to get canned. Lieutenant Alexander Vindman testified during the impeachment proceedings and he was attacked by a few people on the right for his background. He was born in ukraine and he testified about what he heard on the trump zelensky phone call back in july. Look at this, the Washington Post is reporting that the President Trump is looking to target his perceived enemies with vindman on the list. Quote, trump is eager to make a symbol of the army officer. And with us is one of the reporters behind that piece, from the Washington Post, greg miller. Tell us more about here. I want to play a little bit. Alexander vindman was a critical witness in the house impeachment proceedi proceedings. Heres a reminder of what he had to say. I was concerned about the call. I reported my concerns to mr. Eisenberg. It is improper for the president of the United States to demand a Foreign Government investigate a u. S. Citizen and a political opponent. Greg, what are you hearing about vindmans status this morning . So vindman is at the white house as our understanding today. Hes reported for work which he has been doing ever since he is testified and has yet on the told of any change in status for him. But i mean, we were getting clear indications from Senior Administration officials last night that that day was continuing and i think that was pretty trump made that pretty clear yesterday in his long and fairly venomous remarks post impeachment at the white house. I mean not well, he retweeted today or last night questions about vindman from a vindman critic. Yeah. I think that this has you have to assume that this is just the beginning of the score settling well see from President Trump after his acquittal in the senate. I mean, he laid out a map in his hour long speech yesterday of his speech enemies. He clearly sees vindman as one of them. And vindman is targeted. Lets talk about that. Because you and your colleagues there at the Washington Post write that some of the president s aides are discussing whether to remove or reassign several Administration Officials who testified during the impeachment inquiry according to aides and advisers who spoken to condition of anonymity. What else . Its not really clear because the most prominent and high profile witnesses have already moved out. We saw ambassador yovanovitch has retired from the state department. Fiona hill left her job before the call. Ambassador taylor in ukraine he is back in washington, back out of government. So i mean, there are others in the white house and of course the whistleblower himself who trump continues to and Trump Supporters continue to go after fairly regularly and he continues to work in his job at the cia. So there are people who are vulnerable. Can you talk about any breaks or guardrails . Because this is a president and greg, you know i covered him in the white house in my day job for nbc, who often vents and spit balls. Hell call people up, talk about x, y and z and it doesnt end up happening. How realistic is it that the president will move forward with axing some of the folks that he hadnt been happy with . Youre right. There are often cases that the president is angry at somebody and he wants them gone and that doesnt happen. That was true with ambassador yovanovitch. We are learning more about that each and every week. But, you know, we wouldnt have gone forward with this story if we werent hearing directly from officials involved in the matter who were actively making preparations to take this step. Now, we have to be clear that, you know, what theyre proposing to do here is to reassign vindman right, to move him. To move him out of his white house job. In fact, vindman has been bracing for this for some time anyway. Im told hes already cleared out his personal effects from his White House Office or nsc office because he was worried he would be marched out without being able to collect his belongings. Whats interesting too, our team, greg, has put together this list, this look at all of these officials who have testified and sort of where they are now. You talk about vindman. If you look at the graphic were putting up here, you have others. Jennifer williams for example is that aide to Vice President pence who has based on our reporting requested an early departure. You talked about ambassador yovanovitch shes got a think tank gig at this point. Hill had resigned from the nsc before testifying, et cetera. Gordon sondland hanging out still ambassador to the eu, doing his thing. And trying to keep a low profile will. Yeah, its hard for a guy a personality like sondland to keep a low profile, i would imagine. He seems to like the limelight. Hes sort of pretending its business as usual. Hard to understand how its going over in brussels but there you have it. Thats sort of what you get with this administration. Greg miller from the Washington Post. Great to have you and the reporting today, i appreciate it. So President Trump as we have been talking about wants to put the impeachment investigations mostly behind him. But some lawmakers think theres work to be done. We are talking with Judiciary Committee member jamie raskin about whats on the Administration Agenda and we have more news from the campaign trail. One of the president s now former top pentagon officials will endorse a democrat in the next couple of minutes. Well tell you who and why with a live report from virginia. Gin. Ive always been fascinated by whats next. And still going for my best, even though i live with a higher risk of stroke due to afib not caused by a heart valve problem. So if theres a better treatment than warfarin. I want that too. Eliquis. Eliquis is proven to reduce stroke risk better than warfarin. Plus has significantly less major bleeding than warfarin. Eliquis is fdaapproved and has both. Whats next . Reeling in a nice one. Dont stop taking eliquis unless your doctor tells you to, as stopping increases your risk of having a stroke. Eliquis can cause serious and in rare cases fatal bleeding. Dont take eliquis if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. While taking eliquis, you may bruise more easily and it may take longer than usual for any bleeding to stop. Seek immediate medical care for sudden signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Eliquis may increase your bleeding risk if you take certain medicines. Tell your doctor about all planned medical or dental procedures. Eliquis, the number one cardiologistprescribed blood thinner. Ask your doctor if eliquis is whats next for you. 1917 has been nominated including best cinematography, best director, and best picture of the year. So impeachment may be over, but the investigations that it involved are not with democrats weighing what to do now on multiple fronts including President Trumps taxes and then testimony from john bolton and mcgahn. And then trying to dig deeper into the bidens. With me now is jamie raskin from maryland. Thank you very much for being with us. I appreciate it on rainy friday morning. The House Speaker said theres no plans to subpoena john bolton but she did not take it off the table. So i want to know what is stopping the democrats from issuing that subpoena to the former National Security adviser right now . Obviously the impeachment investigation itself is over, but our constitutional oversight duties continue. We dont want to just to stay kind of on that one track, but we certainly want all of the truth to come out because we have to defend the 2020 election. Right. And, you know, that i think is issue number one for us. Defending the integrity of the election and making sure that this ukraine shakedown which was condemned as impeachable by the house and he was found either guilty of it or guilty of Inappropriate Conduct by a majority of people in the senate stops. We have to make sure he does not continue with this ukraine caper. I get your point and yesterday it was explained to me and our viewers here that there is a sense that john bolton could help influence or affect the way that voters end up going to the polls in november. So i asked you again what is stopping you from issuing that subpoena today, monday . Well, look, were in the process of considering what we need to do in the Judiciary Committee and the Intelligence Committee and were processing all of it. Obviously we want to continue our Forward Motion on our legislative agenda too. You know, we have 275 bipartisan bills sitting on Mitch Mcconnells right now, like the universal, criminal and background check on all firearms purchases. We have Prescription Drug reform so we want to be move on the legislative front and at the same time that we defend the constitution against a president who is ungovernorable and vindictive against those like mitt romney, who became the first senator in the history of the United States to vote for impeachment against his own party. The president a we talked about is potentially looking at reassigning Lieutenant Colonel vindman who was a key witness in the house. Your reaction to that . Well, look, the president s conduct is perfectly consistent with tin pot dictator and a banana republic. The shocking thing is there are now banana republicans who will follow him and walk the plaining on any one of the maneuvers. Those who are in the military are not subject to reprisal because they tell the truth in a governmental proceeding. Theres also the Senate Republican side moving forward with some new requests that the administration appears to be cooperating with. A spokesperson for senator widen says the treasury is complying with requests they made for hunter biden but they havent complied with requests on President Trump. How do you square that . One of the reasons he was impeached by the house of representatives is because he refuse to comply with the lawful inquiries made to him. Were the predominant branch of government and the president does not have the power to refuse to comply with our lawful requests and hes acting like this is a banana republic. Theyre not complying with the requests when the body is in the hands of the democrats. The Republican Party that we once knew would have rebelled against such rank partisan discrimination and now the whole party is behaving less like disinterested jurors or objective arbiters of the Public Interest and more like the members of a religious cult. Stepping back big picture, are you concerned about the president ial pay back, post impeachment . Well, look, we know that this president s record. We know his behavior. It was on hand yesterday. The whole country was comparing it to the way that bill clinton behaved in the wake of his impeachment where he called for National Reconciliation and moving forward. This president is clearly in the habit of trying to exact revenge against all of his enemies, real or perceived including mitt romney. And yet, there was a majority in the country that favored both impeachment and removal. That majority is going to hang very tough and stay strong during this period. Nobody is going to be intimidate or cowed by the president s bullying. All right, tom perez, this whole situation thats happened, do you think he should step down as the head of the dnc . Its a tough time in the Democratic Party and i think tom perez has got to help us through this iowa crisis and get us through New Hampshire and the primaries. Very easy for everybody to turn on each other during times of stress. Now is the moment well be tested in terms of our solidarity and our focus and real leadership for america. Congressman raskin, thank you for being with us. I appreciate it. Coming up here on the show were headed down south to virginia because a man that President Trump hired for a top job is out on the campaign trail today. So why is he endorsing a democrat for president . Well take you live. But first, breaking news, januarys job reports is showing stronger than expected growth. You know msnbc is live all over the 2020 campaign trail and that includes just down south of us in virginia where the former Navy Secretary who was fired by President Trump three months ago is about to endorse Michael Bloomberg for president. Yes, Michael Bloomberg the democrat. Richard spencer said hes supporting the former new york mayor because he will quote preserve, protect and defend the constitution. Remember, secretary spencer was fired after what he did in the case of Eddie Gallagher the former navy s. E. A. L. Charged and acquitted of numerous war crimes including the murder of a prisoner. He was found guilty of one count of wrongfully posing with the human corpse and then the president said to restore the s. E. A. L. Insignia. Courtney kube, give us some insight into the secretary spencers thinking here . Why did he decide to make this endorsement that is bound to get under President Trumps skin . Oh, you know it will. We will hear from him in a matter of moments but we got a written statement earlier this morning laying out the feelings behind the decision to endorse Michael Bloomberg for president. There were two specific things that really stuck out to me in his statement. He talks specifically about how Mike Bloomberg, spencer believes that bloomberg will listen to his military leaders and heed their advice. That was a direct strike at President Trump. As you mentioned in the intro of course, secretary spencer was asked to resign from his position after vocally opposing the president intervening in the gallagher case and other code of military if cases last year. So the fact he said that he believes bloomberg will listen to the military leaders is a direct shot against President Trump. The other thing he said he echoed the words of secretary mattis, the man who brought him in, talking about his allies. In the statement he said that restoring americas standing in the world and repairing relationships with our allies will be a top priority in mikes administration. Like i said, were hearing to expect from the Navy Secretary in a matter of moments. Well keep our eyes on the live shot down there. I want to bring in somebody who worked on the campaigns of barack obama and Hillary Clinton and now at sirius xm, and a veteran of the three president ial campaigns. He always beats me out on that. I hate it. I dont want to get into the title fight. We love having you both. Actually ill this is a tossup to either one of them. But shermichael, said this to courtney, this is true. When i talk about the president in the 2020 campaign, how much Mike Bloomberg does get under the president s skin. You can see it on the twitter and you have this guy, that the president fired endorsing someone who the president sees as someone who can irritate him. And hes doing a rally in virginia for a particular reason. Theres a large military population in virginia and the president as you know likes to often talk about how the military supports him, how good he has been to the military. I think bloomberg thus far, has done the most effective job of targeting the president through his messaging and advertising in the way that other candidates cant do. He hasnt been on the democratic debate stage and you have the others who will be tonight in New Hampshire. What do you make of the way that bloomberg is running the strategy at this point . Strategically its a bit smart because he jumped in very late so it wouldnt be smart for him to be on the ballot in any early states if he had even been able to put his name on the ballot considering the deadlines. So i think obviously its a smart strategy because he has a lot of money. He can go very far. If hes prioritizing the super tuesday states thats smart. One thing thats frustrating me is the fact that black voters who are now the base of the Democratic Party are being thought of and essentially engaged with as if they are an afterthought. So when we talk about a Michael Bloomberg or Pete Buttigieg or even Amy Klobuchar who are i dont know what the specific numbers for Michael Bloomberg in South Carolina with black voters are off the top of my head, but amy and peter are both polling at 1 . Let me interrupt you. The nbc news wall street journal it looks like bloomberg is at a 9 . Thats not sufficient to clinch the democratic nomination. When youre not able to engage and resonate with the base of a particular party and trying to get their nomination i think thats going to be a challenge. And we should not look at it like its an afterthought, as if black voters dont have a choice. They have a choice, they have a choice not to vote. No, i do agree with zer lena 100 . Im a republican here, so people may not care what i think about this issue, but im black and i wish my party did more to reach out to our community. But she is right. I know that mayor pete has done very well in iowa. Hes assuming to do well in New Hampshire but to her point, you cannot become the nominee of the Democratic Party without African Americans and i know joe biden has been getting a lot of heat. If he can do well in South Carolina, black voters may propel him to do well on super tuesday. There are a of delegates in the super tuesday states. Youre talking about the way that bloomberg hes looking to the general election and hes spending money on things like influencers, people on instagram to get him more support which the daily beast compared to like, you know, mr. Burns from the simpsons buying his way to the film festival. But i wonder it talks about the strategy of bloomberg looking very much ahead to the general. Look, i think thats a smart strategy and disclosure, influencers as part of my role in the hillary campaign. Its critical and if it werent effective, companies, corporations, people who make products, would not do that. And so i think that its a smart strategy and certainly hes hired enough people to be able to implement that strategy because hes hired basically every Single Campaign staffer on the planet earth. Well see how this translates into either into the increase of polling or actual turnout. Because again i think this is one of those unique primary races where its so fluid and the polling is not i dont think in realtime showing us whats happening on the ground. I feel like theres a groundswell of Women Organizers who are propelling Elizabeth Warren. She is stuck at 13. So well see how that turns out. But i think were missing some the stories when were focusing on just the folks at the top. And not the voters and the folks that are propelling them and their movement at the polls. If i can do it quickly, what bloomberg is doing its very smart. He recognizes that theres a threshold of voters that can be turned out in 2020 that could give a cushion to theoretically defeat President Trump in november. A great conversation as always. Thank you to you both. Well be talking about more what she is speaking to with Elizabeth Warren later. By the way, if you havent heard im moderating the next democratic debate with my colleagues lester holt, chuck todd and jon ralston. Thats wednesday, february 19th, 9 00 eastern only on msnbc and over on nbc news. Dont miss it. We have a bombshell new report, how the Trump Administration may be using personal information on millions of private cell phones for immigration crackdowns. The by line reporter is joining. Some of the passengers on a Royal Caribbean cruise that docked in new jersey this morning are now being tested for the coronavirus. It comes after at least a dozen chinese nationals were on board. In total, you have four people being transferred from the ship to a hospital and what officials are calling an abundance of caution. So far, 12 confirmed cases of the disease in the u. S. Es of the disease in the u. S i have moderate to severe pnow, theres skyrizi. Things are getting clearer, yeah i feel free to bare my skin yeah thats all me. Nothing and me go hand in hand nothing on my skin thats my new plan. Nothing is everything. Keep your skin clearer with skyrizi. 3 out of 4 people achieved 90 clearer skin at 4 months. Of those, nearly 9 out of 10 sustained it through 1 year. And skyrizi is 4 doses a year, after 2 starter doses. I see nothing in a different way and its my moment so i just gotta say nothing is everything skyrizi may increase your risk of infections and lower your ability to fight them. Before treatment your doctor should check you for infections and tuberculosis. Tell your doctor if you have an infection or symptoms such as fevers, sweats, chills, muscle aches or coughs, or if you plan to or recently received a vaccine. Nothing is everything ask your dermatologist about skyrizi. Got to tell you about the new reporting out this morning showing the Trump Administration is using cell phone data for Immigration Enforcement. It maps millions of cell phones. According to the journal, the department of Homeland Security has used the information to detect undocumented immigrants and others who may be entering the u. S. Unlawfully. Joining us to talk about his new reporting is one of the people behind the story, wall street Journal Justice Department reporter byron taub. Tell us whats happening here. The way theyre doing the tracking is on games and people download to their phones. Yeah, this data is coming from run of the mill cell phone apps. Ride share, ecommerce, weather, all the sorts of apps that we put on every day. Those apps leach data into the marketing ecosystem that we have very little knowledge of. And some of that data is ending up in the hands of the government. You write heres why this is so significant. The information amounts to the largest known troves of bulk data being deployed by Law Enforcement and the use is on Firm Legal Footing because the government buys access to it from a commercial vendor, like any private company could. Although this hasnt been tested in court. So this is Data Available for purchase. There are the ad brokers, data brokers that sell all of our location data in bulk to companies all across the country and people who defend these programs say that why shouldnt the government have access to the same data that Marketing Companies and other Ad Tech Companies have. But what will immigration advocates say here . Sure. So critics of programs like this say that the state has so much more power to do things to its residents and the citizens than companies. In general, Companies Want to sell you things. The state can arrest you, you it can deprive you of your liberties so thats why theres more strict rules about what the government can collect versus what marketers can collect. So what is being done about this and what are you hearing from the Trump Administration when youre put ought this story . So they have by and large acknowledged they arent getting this data, but wouldnt say what theyre doing with it on the Law Enforcement side. Why is that . They say that they dont want to reveal sensitive Law Enforcement tactics or tipping off what theyre doing in Immigration Enforcement or porter security. Whether its the government or the private companies, anything you can do to delete the apps . No. Companies like apple, the phone makers have started to give users a lot more reminders and control over the kind of data that they share. So you can go into settings on an android or an apple phone and turn off Location Tracking for apps. That limits it, but if you own up a ride sharing application it needs to know where to pick you up. Great, great reporting. I encourage folks to read it. Thank you. Were talk about a new ban from the attorney general that can affect the 2020 campaign. Also talking about another big story of the white house t white house saying its killed the leader of al qaeda in the arabian peninsula. Al rahimi was killed in a drone strike a couple of weeks ago. Michael bloomberg is here. Vo leadership in action. Mayor bloomberg and president obama worked together in the fight for gun safety laws, to improve education, and to develop innovative ways to help teens gain the skills needed to find good jobs. Obama at a time when washington is divided in old ideological battles he shows us what can be achieved when we bring people together to seek pragmatic solutions. Bloomberg im Mike Bloomberg and i approve this message. We are back with some breaking news out of the courts. Nbc news justice correspondent Pete Williams is here involving a new decision with President Trump. Whats up . This is another one of the emoluments lawsuits saying that it conflicts his conflict with his job as president. There are many of the cases out there but this is filed by 200 plus members of democrats and congress led by Richard Blumenthal arguing that he was failing to get permission from congress when he received foreign benefits as the constitution requires. Now a threejudge panel of the d. C. Court of appeals has unanimously thrown the lawsuit out. It says that the members of congress dont have the legal standing to bring this lawsuit. They go back to the Supreme Court ruling that tossed out a lawsuit over the lineitem veto. Individual members of congress, even a whole bunch of them dont have the Legal Authority to assert all of congress authority. Individual members of congress cant do it. The court said. It says that they have basically individual members of Congress Lack the standing to assert the interests of the congress and in the same way that a single house of congress cant assert the interest of congress as a whole. So its tossed the lawsuit out. Now, there is another emoluments clause lawsuit out there, the one filed by the attorneys general of d. C. And maryland. That was argued just last month. Its the end of the road for one of the lawsuits but not the other. You got it. All right. Pete williams, thank you. We have other news out of the Justice Department because on the same way that President Trump was acquitted by the senate on charges he pushed a foreign power to investigate his rival, bill barr said that they cant really the own the investigations into the campaigns their advisers without his approval. Thats meant to avoid potentially influencing the president ial election. Since some have argued the fbi shaped the outcome of the fbi case. Brett me bring in john brennan. He is now an msnbc senior National Security analyst. Thank you. Legitimate move by the attorney general barr, does it strike you as unusual or not really . I think if we had an attorney general interested in protecting the rule of law and not protecting President Trump, its a good step because you want dont to have an appearance of being an illegitimate senior le and approval of these investigations because were in such a politicized environment right now. William barr has demonstrated hes most interested in being Donald Trumps defense lawyer as opposed to attorney general. Is it unusual for Something Like this to happen . Well, i think right now in looking back on 2016 and 2018, i think the government is right to be able to take some additional steps to ensure that the investigations are going to proceed appropriately and when there is sufficient predication. Im concerned will is a political overcast to whats going on at the attorney generals office. This affects house and candidates as well for the attorney general. You also have the president delivering remarks at the white house, i was there in the east room for that sort of i think it was about an hour long, were packed in the back there watching the president surrounded by his top allies and defenders and he really went hard over former fbi director james comey and other Law Enforcement officials as well. Heres what he said. They were going to try and overthrow the government of the United States, a duly elected president. And if i didnt fire james comey, we would have never found this stuff. Because when i fired that sleaze bag, all hell broke out. They were ratting on each other, they were running for the hills. Lets see what happens. In my opinion, these are the crookedest, most dishonest, dirtiest people ive ever seen. How does this affect the way that the intelligence community, the way that Law Enforcement can work in this administration, in your view . Just hearing that makes my blood boil so i know there are individuals within the fbi who feel the same way. But Donald Trumps behavior and comments yesterday were despicable, utterly detestable. I dont see how anybody could in fact defend himself performance yesterday. I have seen this script play out so many times overseas washyou have a power hungry, narcissistic individual who relies on the individual of many people as well as corrupt politicians and idea logs to solidify his hold on power. Thats what we see with donald trump. Hes not interested in doing what is right for the country or the American People. Hes interested most in doing what is going to advance his personal interest. It so unfortunate what we saw in the impeachment hearings that only a person like mitt romney actually called upon his conscience and did the right thing. Based on what we saw from the president the last 24 hours, he doesnt seem to have a lot of interest in looking back and reflecting on that, hes ready to move on here. Stepping back for you, how does this country move on . Where does this go from here . Well, i think were in this Election Campaign season and i think we have to make sure that were going to try to course correct and get away from what we see right now happening at the helm of our government and continue to try to focus on what is right as opposed to what might be politically expedient. I am so disappointed in so many of those members of congress on the republican side on the house and senate who i worked with and who i thought had more integrity than they have shown. They clearly are giving donald trump a pass. On the republican side obviously. Yes, in the senate as well as the house. Donald trump will take credit for everything. Such as the economy that we have right now. Its not just because of donald trump that we have such a strong economy. But also he tends to be mortgaging our future in terms of increasing the National Debt and refusing the acknowledge the problems associated with climate chang. These are the issues that the American People need to focus on and not just listen to Donald Trumps snake oil pitch. John brennan, thanks for being here with us. Well be back live from the campaign frail with what our sources are saying after the break. E saying after the break. Reporter so, she is doing her usual day off the trail prep today. Were going to see her on the debate state later tonight. As you look at the landscape, shes finished third in iowa. Her campaign is saying that was a nondecisive wind on the part of Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. They want to deliver the decisive choice about this democratic primary field. The Warren Campaign looks at this as a delegate fight, they are looking to continue scooping up delegates as they do. At some point you do have to win and yesterday even as she was talking with reporters in a gaggle here in derry, we asked her if you are cant win in iowa where you have a great ground g game and you cant win in New Hampshire, where can you win . Interesting piece out writing that the media is ignoring that warren beat joe biden and outperformed her polling in iowa. What are you hearing from sources on team warren about that . Hallie, this is not a group of people that complains about the coverage. You hear Elizabeth Warren saying shes not thinking about iowa, shes focused squarely ahead. Elizabeth warren was only behind Bernie Sanders by about 8 points. Maybe its not three tickets, its three stories. And joe bidens underperformance there was the fourth story sort of leaving warren with that third place finish and now moving on to virginnew hampshir make the most of it. Were bringing the show to the road monday and tuesday. I cant wait to see you and i cant wait for all of you to join us starting monday morning right here at 10 00 eastern, we will see you from our remote set. Were saying goodbye to this set for a couple of weeks. And ayman, i dont know if ill see you in New Hampshire. Star racking up those sky miles. Any moment now the president is expected to leave the white house. Were going to see if he keeps airing his grievances like we saw in that 62minute, as he said not a press conference or a speech yesterday from the east room of the white house. Were going to see if hes actually going to put his words into actions, now specifically possibly targeting elected officials and Civil Servants he blames for his impeachment. Thats some of the reporting out there now. This morning everyone else is trying to move on from impeachment, including the 2020 democrats. Tonight the democrats will face off on the debate stage
