Has a right to the entire report with no redactions whatsoever so we can see whats there. The president did nothing wrong. Mr. Mayor . Harassing him. We are looking very carefully right now as to whether or not the irs is properly auditing and enforcing tax law on the president of the United States. And were considering legislative changes toward that end. Democrats will never see the president s tax returns . Oh no. Never. Nor should they. Keep in mind thats an issue that was litigated in the election. Voters knew the president could have given the tax returns and didnt and elected him anyway and drives the democrats crazy. The president lashing out in a barrage of tweets calling the Mueller Investigation a fraud and a witch hunt and mueller is just the tip of the iceberg. The president s currently waging legal battles on a number of dirpt fronts. The house ways and Means Committee wants the white house to turn over six years of President Trumps tax returns and the House Intelligence Committee is seeking interview with and documents from the inaugural committee and the House Oversight committee served subpoenas to white house staff karl klein and others in the probe of White House Security clearances. Im going do speak with someone from the House Oversight committee shortly. Lets bring in our panel. Kevin sarili, andrew desaderio and special prosecutor and msnbc contributor jill winebanks. I want to kick it off with you, kevin. There is, of course, more than the focus of the Mueller Report. There are at least seven, eight othering other ongoing investigations of watching and reporting on. Of these as we push toward a new week, what is it that youre watching . I think it is what attorney general barr when he testifies before congress to see what he says, what is the chronology of the weekend when he wrote that fourpage memo, richard, in terms of releasing that summary and why the entirety of it wasnt released at that particular time. Look. Whether its the president s tax returns, now knorr Mitt Romney Republican doesnt understand why theyre going after them or deutsch bank chairwoman Maxine Waters of california looking into the administrations dealing with deutsch bank, how all of this is playing out is truthfully democrats using this subpoena power to get more information when at a time the Mueller Report still has not been fully released. This is working on the redacted copy as we have been talking about. Jill, the full mueller, will we get the full mueller . We have seen the discussions and the pressure put upon william barr and what he is doing at the moment. How do you put it in perspective . Do you think were going do get it . Well, first of all, i think facts matter and that it is very important both for congress do get the facts and for the American People to get the facts. And i do think well get it. I think for sure congress will get the full Mueller Report and the underlying evidence, including the grand jury. Theres been a lot of debate this week about a new decision. Mckiever versus barr and doesnt eliminate the exception to the grand jury secrecy rules and its been clearly recognized that impeachment or preliminary to impeachment counts as a judicial proceeding. So surely congress has a Public Interest in getting it. And the courts would release it to them. Theres also some foya freedom of information act claims proceeding in washington to get it out to the public. That could be a problem with the new decision but well have to see what happens with that. I think we need to get it. I think we have a right to get it. And that the barr summary in quotation marks is really fishy saying its not a full and complete disclosure as we know from leaks from the mueller team. Andrew, that which jill was alluding to here, the impeachment proceedings to begin to get as the republicans are saying to receive again what was said, the evidence, related to the grand jury. What is your reflection on that . What are you hearing . Right. Well, as of now, the republicans would love for the democrats to start an impeachment inquiry for a cudul against democrats and theres a battle of the democratic and republican lawyers about whether this ruling that jill referred to from the d. C. Circuit from friday means that democrats would essentially have to formally kick off an impeachment inquiry to get the grand jury information. I will note as of now chairman nadler is only requesting a court for that information but they can ask for that information legally and i will note that during the markup of authorizing the subpoena for the Mueller Report Jim Sensenbrenner who is a Senior Member ofrt committee saying to the democrats said ill be a codefendant in court and irked the fellow republicans. This is pushing towards the full Mueller Report and what will happen from that. I want do bring in congresswoman Eleanor Holmesnorton representing the District Of Columbia and a member of the House Committee of oversight and reform. Representative, thank you for joining us and good to speak with you again. Of course. I want do go to issues of security clearance and what is the latest on that. The House Oversight committee voted tuesday for a subpoena to the former white house head of the personal security district after a whistleblower accused him of mismanaging security clearances. This of course alluded to not only jared curb me and what hes doing in the white house and him receiving security clearance and many, many others. What is the focus here for you . This came because of a whistleblower to the committee and made it known that this Civil Servant had was one of several who had found Real Security problems, if security clearances were granted for more than 20 people. And yet, these security clearances were granted. And the problem with that is the security of the countrys at stake. We are talking about people who have foreign connections, business interests, real conflicts. And yet, klein who was the head of the security in the white house was, in fact, overruling the Civil Servants. This became a whistleblowing matter and the only reason and the only way to really expose it and get to the bottom of it is to bring in klein. Klein at first refused to come. Now he says hell come and only talk about the kinds of work they do. He wont talk about any of the specifics. Representative, some on the right are saying thats full the ability of his office as well as the president if involved to do such. Not when youre overruling Civil Servants for political reasons. Th thats what we think is happening and why we want that thats why we have subpoenaing these people. Your committee is also pushing to receive ten years of financial documents. Why do you need it . I guess the public doesnt know the irs audits every president and every Vice President. We have a right to know what the irs has found and its the irs who will get this document. Moreover, over and over again throughout his tenure we hear of conflicts of interest involving this president. The only way to really know it is to look at his tax returns. That is why we are going through a very careful process and why the ways and Means Committee will be, in fact, subpoenaing his tax returns. If you look at the tax code 1603 you print it up and 75 pages in it. One of the items that it does allude to here is this. Alluding to the secretary of treasury, i believe sarks ii, s secretary shall furnish such committee with any return or return information specified in such request. Not committee you are on necessarily. Exactly. This is in parallel, though, to the requests of share you its mandatory language so they can take this to court if they want to but it means that shall means shall. Shall means shall. If you do not receive them after requested, what will be your next step . What would you be suggesting . Next step would be to go to court and thats why im entirely confident well get the material because of the language that congress itself used. Shall means you must turn over the material. Congresswoman from washington, d. C. , thank you for stopping by and have a good sunday. You, too all right. Lets bring back the panel. Kevin and andrew and jill. Jill, what did you think . Well, i want to correct one thing that i hope i said correctly and make clear that the rule of the federal rules of evidence 6e which protects secrecy does say for a judicial proceeding or preliminary to. So they dont have to start an impeachment process. They have to have fact finding hearings which might lead to depending on what evidence is found but they have a right in congress to have the full Mueller Report and the grand jury testimony preliminary to anything they might do as a judicial proceeding. Thats the first thing. In terms of the tax returns, absolutely Eleanor Holmes norton is 100 correct. It says shall and it means shall. That particular portion of the code became law when andrew melen was secretary of the treasury and refused to die vest himself out vast holdings. We have that. Congress didnt trust him and why they passed it and the same thing applies right here. In this case. And we have to do look. We have to look back in history to understand what Current Congress members are saying and, kevin, over to you on this. We have to go back to 1924. Did become law in 1924. This was not for president harding spee harding specifically but a member of the cabinet, a member which did own businesses at the same time and that was you know, again, called the teapot dome controversy at the time. This is why current members are saying, see, thats what we did in 1924, why recreated the law and using it today. Exactly. And i thought it was such a great interview with the congresswoman to highlight the unchartered policy and political waters that we are in right now. I mean, look, virtually every president ial candidate has released their tax reform or tax records except then candidate donald trump and now dealing with the reality of that. I have to be completely frank here. When i talked to sources at the treasury department, led by treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin they say game on. Bring it on. Theyll completely prepare themselves for another legal fight, richard. Theyre going to every step of the way try to keep the president s tax records from getting out there. They feel as the president has articulated that because hes under audit that he ought not have to release them and quite honestly, this is the latest twist in this story that we have been covering really since the last president ial cycle but the bottom line is that every democratic president ial candidate, all 15 plus of them at this point, you know, should be looking at this and saying, all right. It is time to release their tax returns, as well. 17 now. I know its been a day or two. You deserve a day off my friend. Well get more into that later. I could be wrong. Could be 18 at the moment right now. Andrew, ill read a headline saying democrats face minefield if they get trump tax returns. What is your reflection on that ainge snl. Look. The president has said in the past coming to his finances and his tax returns as part of the investigations thats a red line for him. I reported this week that the House Oversight committee has contacted capital one for financial records of the Trump Organization, the president s trust and other subsidiaries of the president s vast and sprawling business empire. And we know that capital one has asked for a socalled friendly subpoena to be able to comply and also asked for ten years of his records from an Accounting Firm and democrats what theyre trying to do here particularly on the oversight committee, corroborate aspects of the testimony, allegations made that the president inflating and per something to be a theme going forward. Jill, yeah, talking about this for three years, kevin was talking about at the moment and its not only the feds, if you will, looking at the money trail but state investigations, too. Jill, what that might result in and how long that might take. Well, the state and the Southern District of new york have authority over many of the businesses that the Trump Organization runs. And they have a right to look into whether they have been operating appropriately. You dont just pick a defendant to look at. There is public evidence that would make anybody want to investigate whether theres truth to the accusations. If theyre true then the American People and the Justice System need to pursue them. So i think it could take a while but i also want to just reflect on how quickly we were able to subpoena tapes and get a Supreme Court decision affirming our right to those tapes. It can be done on a fast track and doesnt have to take a long time do get to the Supreme Court to have a unanimous ruling that the president is not above the law, that the president has to comply. Jill, kevin, andrew a great panel to start. Thank you and have a good weekend, whats left of it. Thank you. The world reacts to the controversy of joe biden and his unwanted physical contact with women. Of course, saturday night live took on that controversy in a way only they could. Protrump Group Released an ad saying that the biden behavior is unacceptable and should instantly disqualify him from running. The groups name is independent republicans of new york or irony. A wealth of information. A wealth of perspective. A wealth of opportunities. Thats the clarity you get from fidelity wealth management. Straightforward advice, tailored recommendations, taxefficient investing strategies, and a dedicated advisor to help you grow and protect your wealth. Fidelity wealth management. All right. Time now for we said they said. The controversy sounding joe bide ens unwelcomed physical con da contact where we start. Women making headlines and around the world. The fact that biden has so much support from women probably helps him and doesnt change the fact that nowhere in his statement did joe biden actually apologize. His name is floated for the last year or so as a possible democratic challenger to donald trump in the 2020 elections but now everyone is talking about his habit of getting frisky with both women and girls in public. United states Vice President joe biden denied allegations of Sexual Misconduct allegations against him saying he did not once act inappropriately. News joutd lets abroad also focus on what it could mean for bidens possible president ial run. Theres another accusation, that hes not taking responsibility for the affect of the behavior on other people and threatening to derail the bid for the white house. Have you seen the man in the white house . I mean, is this kind of like karma coming back . Im getting deja vu. The same accusations i remember from the 2016 election. All right. Plenty of an sis, as well. The uk saying joe bidens inappropriate touching is the embodiment of male privilege and the partial defense of biden saying the reaction to the new allegations against him has exposed a generational divide in the party. Its been bernie versus beto in iowa this weekend. Right now, taking in live pictures there. Senator Bernie Sanders moments away from the second town hall of the day and will go straight there live. Plus, President Trump give it is world a preview of the 2020 playbook against the democrats and a smidgen of criticism of ocasiocortez and the green deal and a smidgen of heaping helping of fear. Which democratic candidate is ready for all of that. Might mean a trip back to the Doctors Office just for a shot. But why go back there when you can stay home with Neulasta Onpro . Strong chemo can put you at risk of serious infection. In a key study neulasta reduced the risk of infection from 17 to 1 , a 94 decrease. Neulasta onpro is designed to deliver neulasta the day after chemo and is used by most patients today. Neulasta is for certain Cancer Patients receiving strong chemotherapy. Do not take neulasta if youre allergic to it or Neupogen Filgrastim . An incomplete dose could increase infection risk. Ruptured spleen, sometimes fatal as well as serious lung problems, allergic reactions, kidney injuries and capillary leak syndrome have occurred. Report abdominal or shoulder tip pain, trouble breathing or allergic reactions to your doctor right away. In patients with sickle cell disorders, serious, sometimes fatal crises can occur. The most common side effect is bone and muscle ache. If youd rather be home, ask your doctor about Neulasta Onpro. Pay no more than 5 per dose with copay card. We are keeping our eye on the money when it comes to 2020. New numbers to share with you today. Democratic contender corey booker, raised more than 5 million in the First Quarter. This is the way the horse race looks with First Quarter fund raising. 18 to Bernie Sanders. 12 to kamala harris. 9 to beto orourke. 7 to pete buttigieg. Also the candidates on the trail in nevada, New Hampshire and south carolina. Big focus, though, has been on the first in the nations caucus state of iowa. Nbc newss road warrior Shaquille Brewster in the city of malcolm, iowa, following senator Bernie Sanders. Shaq, tell us quickly what malcolm is like and whats resonating with them. The theme has been health care in the weekend. Reporter thats very true. Ill walk out so im not interrupting the event going on. Senator sanders is about to be introduced and breaking away going do the small towns and the big rallies and heading to places like malcolm, iowa. You can take a look at exactly what kind of town this is. I spoke to the mayor saying its a town of about 287 people and told me earlier today that no president ial candidate has ever even been do this town. Now, there are over 200 people inside there and these are towns that democrats say they need to go to, to visit and voters they need to reach and get back into the fold. Listen to how Bernie Sanders put that earlier today in iowa. I understand that people in their frustration, in their pain voted for donald trump. I would just ask people to check the record and see if he did what he said he would do and i think the conclusion is, he betrayed the working families of this country. Reporter and this is a busy weekend in iowa. Beto orourke is also here. Obviously, there are more than 200 people in that building right now and he is talking to voters. He is hoping to bring them back into the fold. He is taking dozens of questions during this trip. Asked about medicare for all to education and Climate Change and a big issue iowa voters especially democrats want to address and reaching the small towns. This is one of them, a town of about 287 people according to the mayor. How about that . All right. Thank you so much. Water tower towns across the country is where we learn a lot. Malcom, iowa, one of those. Thank you, sir. Democrats by did way, democrats got a peek at Donald Trumps 2020 playbook in the speech in las vegas this weekend. Take a listen. 100 democrats in congress are promoting the biggest government power grab in u. S. History. The 100 trillion Green New Deal. Proposed by a wonderful young bartender, 29 years old. Talking about the Green New Deal and its champion freshman congresswoman ocasiocortez. He dismissed her as just a bartender. Read meat certainly for the base. Next over 120 Congressional Democrats are also supporting a socialist takeover of our Health Care System that would take away private insurance. If you take a look at this, 180 Million People will lose their private health insurance. Socialism and you had to see this one coming. A clear favorite among trump support es and of course there is this. The radical democrats are also pushing for a thing called if you can believe this open borders. They want open borders. They want people to pour in to our country. Well, the president s most common play immigration as you were hearing there and the claim democrats want open borders. Well, 17 announced president ial candidates on the left to counter the president s forward attacks and now that includes straight to their face stuff Like Health Care and the jewish vote included. Lets bring in david jolly, corrine jeanpierre, emily nuong. Representative, im going to start with you on this. You have heard just we laid out sort of four or five issues here. Which candidate will do better on most of these attack points . Because we know it evolves as will the election. Well look. I think the opportunity for democrats is to reset the narrative. We know donald trump is going to set a false baseline. Hell declare mourning in america again and probably going back to the Great Recession and ignore the growth of the obama years. Hell talk about a Strong Border but every single democrats running right now have the opportunity to remind the American People this is a president whose immigration policy gave us kids in policy, the Health Care Policy to reduce access and the tax policy favors the wealthy. That is a message that resonates to those voters that maybe voted for obama and then trump. I think democrats are ripe to pick them up again in 2020. Thats the interesting point, right . If these are the drumbeats, theyre the same again as the representative bringing up we heard in the last cycle. For the most part that would mean necessarily that the midwest, those states that swung the other way, theyre going to move to the blue side. Look. I think democrats have a unique opportunity here and when you ask which democrat could take on donald trump, honestly, any of them. They are very qualified. We have a diverse field. We have an abundance of riches, really. It is kind of an embarrassing if you really look at it and donald trump just listening to him right there, richard. Kind of going down do the fourth grade level of insulting and telling lies. Democrats should not take a lecture on immigration from donald trump. As the congressman said. He separated babies from mothers, put them in cages. He said mexico would pay for the wall. Honestly, looking at polls after poll after poll, they say that they trust democrats more with immigration. So he has hes not running on any issues. Hes not running on anything positive. Donald trump is just doubling down on divisiveness and ugliness and lies and a great opportunity for democrats to talk about the issues. Which is the things that the base are very excited about. I want to go something, the former House Speaker said, tim ryan kicking off ryan, kicking off his Campaign Health laying ow out his care. I have been on the medicare for all bill since 2007. Moving in that right direction. I dont think we should be taking private insurance away from people that have it and like it but build a system to allows everybody to have a public option. So over to you on this, emily. You know, the issue of Health Care Traditionally certainly an issue that the left has owned at the moment. The president now bringing up, hey, health care will be an issue and something that the republicans and the conservatives will own here. Absolutely. So the president s going back and forth on whether health care should be an animating issue in this upcoming president ial election. He before the ajc said he will be the party of health kcare bu he said the vote will be taken after the next election considering wanting a majority of republican majority in the senate and the house and then him returning to the white house but he knows, of course, that health care is what people feel personally, what hits their what they feel in the wallets the very most and i think that hes going to return to that time and time again as much as the party might not like him to. Mick mulvaney today commenting on their getaway to camp david focusing on health care. I want to play a little bit of that. We had a great meeting this week. We brought the Health Care Specialists in. We spent the time saying what have we done . What can we talk about thats been a success . What do we need to talk about . The individual marketplace, protecting medicare, getting drug prices down and i think you will see a plan here fairly shortly. Representative, your thought on the statement coming from the white house . We have been hearing that promise of a plan for years and i would say if republicans were truly the party of Great Health Care they wouldnt have lost the house last november. We know that. I think the dynamic for democrats look. Democrats are talking about protecting access, protecting affordability, making both easier for voters whereas republicans talk about reducing access. The challenge though is in this socialism label and i was talking to a republican pollster. I said does the socialism label work . They said its a more effective hit talking to republican performing voters than the nancy pelosi label ever was and republicans are successing with the socialism label. Democrats need to stay on message. Theyre promoting a program making it more available to those who perhaps need additional access. We had a jobs report on friday. You can react to the representative but why hasnt that been strong thematic from the right and could the left pull that up, take that in . Yeah. I just really on what the congressman said, richard, you know, this is why democrats need to talk about the issues and not fall back or not get caught up in the labels because it is true that democrats even in the house just this past two weeks have really pushed policies to really protect health care, increase health care, Lower Health Care costs and doing the right thing here and so what we need to do is continue to carry that message and continue to just really engage the base. We have to remember one of the things that got the base excited was back in 2017 when republicans were trying to repeal health care and they we got out there and we protested and we helped to stop the repeal of aca. And that led to wins in 2017 and it led to obviously a big win in 2018. And thats the key is to just talk about the issues, dont get caught up in Donald Trumps rhetoric and what he wants to label us as. Emily, quickly, the energizing issues, the economy i guess not. Polling doesnt show that the voters care about it as much. He knows that rhetoric on immigration and crisis and a National Security issue fires up the base and he wants that to base for him in the polls and he also to find the foil among the democrats in this case in the role you played at the top of the segment in aoc to bring out the voters in that manner. On both sides with aoc. David, thank you. Corrine and emily, appreciate your time today. Thanks. Coming up, trump versus the trutd. We dig into the president s claims of the dangers of wind power. Can you really get cancer from that . Fact from fiction, next. Witness, but i can tell you Liberty Mutual customized my Car Insurance so i only pay for what i need. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Only pay for what you need. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. President trump starting today with some tweets attacking democrats and the media. Not necessarily different than the past. The Washington Post reporting the president has now made 759 false or misleading statements on the russia probe since it began. The paper also saying the president has made 9,451 false or misleading statements as of april 1st. One of the latest at a Fund Raising Dinner in washington whether the president shifted attention to windmills. If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations. You house just went down 75 in value. And they say the noise causes cancer. You tell me that one. Okay . According to Washington Post, and what the president said there, as well as research from scientists, no proven link between windmills and cancer. While this is just one of many conspiracy theories, the president pushed, there could be a deeper reason that he brought that up. In february trump lost a lawsuit against the Scottish Government over a wind farm that was near one of his golf resorts in scotland. That wind farm is done, complete. The president argued it spoiled the view of his property. But the court ruled against him. Well be right back. Yes. Benjamin netanyahu. Hows the race going, by the way . Donald trump, he was giving a hat tip there to israeli Prime Minister netanyahu at a speech days before the election day. Thats this tuesday. In israel. And then the president continued. Take a listen. I stood with your Prime Minister at the white house to recognize israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Historic action that had been decades in waiting. The United States recognized the true capital of israel and opened the American Embassy in jerusalem. I withdrew the United States from one of the most dangerous, one sided deals ever negotiated, the disastrous iran nuclear deal. They wanted to kill israel. They wanted to destroy israel. The muchatual admiration socy goes both ways. Netanyahu used trump in commercial ads as netanyahus nationalistic plans as of last night includes promises to annex jewish settlements in the west bank. A clear affront here to the palestinians who see the west bank as the heartland of a future palestinian state and that move prompting the strong reaction of candidate beto orourke a short time ago. The u. S. israel relationship is one of the most important relationships that we have on the planet. And that relationship if it is to be successful must transcend partisanship in the United States and must be able to transcend a Prime Minister who is racist as he warns about arabs coming to the polls, who wants to defy a prospect or peace by annexing the west bank. Joining us is Daniel Shapiro whos in tel aviv and usaf munanr. Ill start with you, daniel, on this. If, and the polls, at least the last one that came out before the election on tuesday, shows it is pretty close here. What happens if Benjamin Netanyahu and his moparty moves forward again and hes Prime Minister again and the annexation he promised . This is new for netanyahu, who while hes never been a strong add kate of a resisted more extreme members of his own party and his coalition who have advocated annexation of the west bank. So this is a change for him. Its a sign of a certain amount of desperation in the closing stages of a Close Campaign that he wants to increase the votes that he would get. And its not clear that he would actually carry it out. But he will be in a weakened state after this selection, even if he wins. As you probably already know, the israeli attorney general plans to file indictments against Prime Minister netanyahu for corruption charges. At that point, the Prime Minister will really be dependent upon his political allies in his party and his coalition for his very political survival. And he will have handed them this very fat check that they will try to cash to proceed on annexation of the west bank, which, of course, would indeed make it very difficult, perhaps impossible, to ever achieve a twostate solution and also call into question israels ability to remain a jewish and democratic state, which is the way the United States and israel have always defined the basis of this relationship. Yeah. Critics of what has happened so far in this administration, as well as the one before, certainly, yusef, have said, looking at the settlements and developments over the recent years, the statements made about the Golan Heights and just within, what, the last 24, statements from the Prime Minister here about annexation clearly shows a disregard for what is an important part as the ambassador was bringing up, in the twostate solution. That is pretty much gone, at least as of today and in ideology, at least. Well, i would have to disagree with dan here a little bit on the idea that this is new from netanyahu. In fact, we heard something very similar from him during the Obama Administration in the elections in 2015, where on the eve of the election, he swore there would never be a palestinian state under his watch in an effort to rally voters on the right. I think whats interesting about this israeli election is that, you know, the pretense of there being an alternative to a right wing perspective when it comes to policy towards palestinians has entirely disappeared. There might be some differences between some of the parties in israel, but as far as relationship with the palestinians go, and the rights of the palestinian people, most parties are really on the same page. And while there may be some who are willing to say annexation outright. Others are very much in support of the status quo indefinitely. And i think what we must keep in mind is that there will be many people voting in this election. But there are millions of palestinians living under Israeli Military occupation whose lives are being governed by the very people who will be elected in this election. Who have no vote in this election whatsoever. That is a human rights crisis, which on an american scale, would be similar to 100 Million People in the United States territory not being able to vote. You would think that that would be the preeminent political issue in a countrys politics. But in israel, its really been relegated to a secondary tertiary issue, along with many other things, because most Political Parties are perfectly comfortable with the status quo. Ambassador, and the two of you know so well, this is certainly your area of expertise. Unlike the United States, were talking about multiparties, not just two parties. And as the two leading candidates and two leading parties move forward, every vote, i think, as you were alluding to, yusef, is of higher value, necessarily, in this parcel men tear election. Am bass tore, it has been said this president is the most pro israel of any in modern history. Would you agree with those who make that statement and is it because of this president s, the United States president s move towards nationalism that you might see Benjamin Netanyahu sort of putting that into his playbook right now . No, i dont agree with that description of President Trump. He certainly has done some things that many israelis have appreciated. He moved the embassy to jerusalem. He with drew from the iran nuclear deal. I agree with some decisions and disagree with other decisions. Whats most concerning about what he might do after this election, he has said that after the election, his team, Jared Kushner and jason greenblatt, middle east negotiators, will plan to issue their plan for a peace between israelis and palestinians. They have been vague on what it entails. But it may entail, and there are some signs that the recognition of the Golan Heights sovereignty for israel is a prelude to doing the same thing on the west bank, which would be consistent with this annexation proposal. They may propose something that really would cement a longterm maybe permanent isolated areas of palestinian autonomy under overall israeli control, rather than a plan that would keep alive the prospect of a real twostate solution in which both israelis and palestinians could achieve their national selfdetermination. Thats the only way there is a solution to this conflict. And if President Trump doesnt keep that version alive, holding both parties to their responsibilities to do it regarding violence, regarding settlements, regarding every other aspect, he will not be a good friend to israel at all. Yusef, add into this conversation, quickly if you can here, what is the reaction from the Palestinian Authority as well as the president of the Palestinian Authority, mahmoud abbas, from the injection of Jared Kushner, soninlaw in the president in this discussion of a twostate possibility . Look, the Trump Administration has absolutely no credibility among palestinians to act as a broker in any way. I think any remaining creditability that might have existed went out the window with trumps recognition of jerusalem as israels capital. But this is so much deeper than President Trump. And Benjamin Netanyahu. Even if trump today is more popular in israel than netanyahu, the reality is, this is very much a product of consistent u. S. Policy that goes across the aisle. And what we really need to see is a policy that holds israel accountable for violations of International Law and palestinian rights, or else were going to continue emboldening the kind of extremism and racism thats been on display in this election.
