>> people need to wake up to this notion. it's completely within the realm of possibility that he could win this election. so people are urging people to be cognizant of that fact. but lee zeldin is just one of many elected officials on the ballot right now to include my opponent, nicole marley attackers, who voted to decertify the election. 12 years ago ian pat ryan, is a bit older than, me we swore an oath to protect and uphold the constitution when we enlisted and united states military. many people have taken that same oath and not come home to their families after going to war. when these individuals voted to do certify an election, after they ran from their lives from a violent mob that was intent on disrupting our democratic process, a very simply split on the graves of our soldiers who died protecting our freedoms and fighting for the constitution. that's how serious this is. we cannot worry that our democracy and our constitution hinges on the balance of every election. it's never what this country has been about. we can't let it happen. that's why it's so essential that we win this election. it's why it is so essential that we show, because all these people respond to now our electoral consequences. that's why they still suck up to donald trump. no matter what he's desert as about them. we've got to show them on election day that when they vote against democracy they will lose their election. >> representative crockett, next time will be speaking with katie hobbs, running for governor of arizona, fighting voter intimidation efforts in arizona cities where there are reports of armed poll watchers looking for nonexistent fraud. we've got to be scary. this is threatening peoples voting rights. >> absolutely. i first ended up on msnbc because we fled the state of texas because of voting rights. we didn't realize that this voter suppression and now voter subversion was something that was going to spread through this country like a cancer. one of the things that they did this past session is they decided to give everyone guns and tell them that they can basically go to the polls here in texas as well. there was a recording of some folks saying we've got to go down there. as they were talking about a specific portion of harris county where african americans tend to vote. and so we know this is a very real thing. we know that the republican party is basically going into the extremists. they're going to the racists, they're going to all the white supremacists, they're going to anybody with antisemitic, they're going to any and every fringe group that they can, trying to build their coalition around hate. and one thing that the democrats have always done is build a coalition around love. but i want to be clear, it's not just a democracy here in our country. we actually set the stage for democracy in the entire world. if we see our democracy crumbling here, that has a ripple effect in the entire world, and that is what people need to better understand. >> somebody who travels overseas quite frequently, i can tell you a lot people look at american diet micro see as an example. as that continues to erode it's safe to say that democracy around the world would also a road. jasmine crockett, pat ryan, max rose, congresswoman andrea salinas, thank you all for your time this evening. best of luck to all of. you up next, we are pivoting to one of the other big stories this week, the legal was close again on donald trump and his allies, recovering the january six committee's moves and doj's new steps, after the break. steps, after the break luxury exemplified. innovation electrified. with apple music seamlessly integrated. the all-new, all-electric eqs suv from mercedes-benz. there are so many, we always start with these broad questions to get your personal expertise on it? >> i think the combination is what is so powerful, is that we have so many witnesses there are about to be forced to tell the truth, to testify. i think the court is going to be forced to make a decision that there is no legitimate privilege, either executive privilege or attorney-client privilege. to me, it's been obvious for many years that there is no such privilege, that it gets waived when there is a need for it in a criminal case like this and possibly even for congress. the congress is less clear that it will be way, but certainly, the department of justice, there's no privileged. don't get testimony they're looking for, and that's going to move us forward a lot. i think that the two lawyers particularly have nothing to hide. they particularly seem to have been advised that everything going on was wrong, that it should not be done, so they did the right thing back down and should be proud of the and willing to this if i. >> david, talk to me about the strategy here of trying to crack trump's attorney client privilege claims. it's a tool that he uses often, and people try to use it all the time, but do you think prosecutors will be successful in doing so? >> ayman, it's a matter of time. it's also same song, diverse. we have been having this debate from the beginning, whether you can force presidents close advisers, including his lawyers to testify, and the argument is he is a former president, former advisor, so you should be able to get him to testify. what's pushing back from the other side and no one is talking about is the fact that washington has an interest in maintaining the status quo. both democrats and republicans passed have taken advantage of the argument that the president's closest advisers should not be forced to testify before congress, and what happened that made this difference in addition to what we just heard that it's an incredible investigation is that as these processes continue, pressure is mounting and people are having to talk about how they will look in the history books it don't come forth and doing the right thing. that pressure is going to continue to give more positive results for the country overall. >> jill, federal investigators are interested in trump's, quote unquote, diet coke valet. according to the times, they're not doubting his first account of how classified documents were handled. where do you see this going? >> i think that they will call him in, and that he will have to testify. they must have some evidence that counters what he said for, or they would not be calling him back to challenge what he said before. it's going to be interesting because, it is a real lead to donald trump's personal involvement, his personal role and knowledge, not just someone saying, i told him. but his actually saying to someone else, do this. i think it's an important element of the case and goes to his intent, his knowledge and makes it almost impossible for the department of justice not to proceed with this case. there is no getting around the fact, particularly when you add to that the idea iran and china documents that were very dangerous were in-depth piled or classified information. >> david, trump aide kash patel publicly claim that trump at the cost by the records before leaving office, but the new york times reports that patel refused to answer many questions this month before a grand jury in washington. hearing evidence about trump standing at the documents, citing his fifth amendment right against self incrimination. are those two ideas in congruent? if you so believe that he did the classified documents, why would you be afraid to say that in front of a grand jury and not think that you potentially be self incriminating yourself? >> ayman, i think your instinct is right. there's probably more to it. at the very least, he's afraid of other collateral damage. trump is the type of person where he might try to file a lawsuit against you, and people on the ground note that is a risk if you go up against him. let's take these two things, two steps. first of all, anyone who lived through the era of vhs knows how ridiculous trump's argument is. his argument is, i was allowed to have it for this one reason, so i am allowed to have it for any reason. the fact that you own a tape and pcr, is not me new can record a movie of the television and then use it for whatever purposes. it's very similar we start talking about mar-a-lago documents. then he said talking about individuals having to testify before the country. for you to plead the fifth, there has to be some risk for prosecution, so even setting aside whether or not it makes sense complete the fifth, ultimately, if the prosecutors come forward and say, hey, we're not interested, we won't charge you have anything, then you are going to have to testify. this is an instance where we are seeing throughout the trump litigation, you can run, but ultimately, you can't hide. >> jill wine-banks, david henderson, greatly appreciate it, thank you so much for your
