strong earthquake could come in the coming days. a powerful quake hit in the afternoon. the ground is still shaking. the magnitude 6.6 quake hit tottori prefecture. first there's a look at the situation taken by our cameraman at our domestic service. >> reporter: we're seeing damage in tottori prefecture. you can see a building slanted to the right. pieces of wood from the wide wall fell to the ground. on the other side, it looks like a home. some roof tiles have shifted. many of the rooftops in this area have missing tile. i'll now move my camera. >> reporter: here's a cemetery. you can see lots of toppled tombstones. this really shows how strong the quake was. we're over the town of yurihama. above the playground of a junior high school. we can see about 50 students who evacuated the building. some of them are sitting. others are waving their hands. it even appears that there's a girl lying down in the lower right-hand corner of your screen. >> and that was the cameraman from our domestic service describing the situation from the air. at least ten people were injured. most of them hit by falling objects. electricity is back on after it was disrupted in more than 50,000 households in the prefecture. >> translator: my office was on the third floor and it was shaking a lot. i couldn't stand without holding onto something. i think the quake lasted for about ten seconds. >> translator: i was on a bridge when the quake struck. i've never experienced such a jolt and was shocked. >> translator: i was in bed when the tremors hit. the shaking lasted quite a while. >> some roads are cracked. people working close by said they heard a roar before a parking lot split. people have evacuated their homes and buildings. they gathered in open spaces to stay safe. local airports canceled flights. shinkansen bullet train service is now back up and running. officials are warning of increased seismic activity. >> translator: we ask you to stay on alert for a possible quake of the same strength in the next week or so. please take sufficient precautions for your safety. >> japan's nuclear regulation authorities haven't received any reports of troubles in the region. the number three reactor in ika ta plant is continuing to operate. officials say six other plants in the affected regions were offline and there were no reports of irregularities. also data taken at monitoring posts near the levels saw no change in radiation levels. now onto business news. we start with the central bank chief suggesting another change in the timetable for the policy goal. gene otani from the business desk has details on that and other business headlines. >> bank of japan head may extend the time frame for the 2% inflation target. kuroroda was speaking at the committee meeting. kuroda said the bank could revise their plan considering the recent decline in prices. the change could be reflected in the bank's outlook for economic activity and prices report due out on november 1st. kuroda's term as governor ends on april 8, 2017. he said he boj's mission is to continue to stabilize prices regardless of his time in office. the latest data out of china show the housing market could be overheating again. new home prices last month remain high in 90% of the major cities. this is triggering caution about a potential property bubble. data from the national bureau of statistics show new home prices rose in 63 out of 70 major cities in september compared with the previous month. prices in beijing rised 5% while those in guangzhou were up 3%. new home prices up 30% in beijing. has been easing house loan regulations to deal with the unsold condominiums and mainly in regional cities. the government is also working to curb speculative buying and selling of homes in some urban areas. checking the markets, tokyo stocks snapped five straight days of gains. many investors with profits from the recent rally. and the earthquake in western japan weighed on sentiment. giang nguyen has the details from the tokyo stock exchange. >> tokyo shares opened higher on a relatively weaker yen. then stocks retreated on profit taking. and the strong earthquake occurred towards the close of the market. the nikkei 225 fell 0.3% closing at 17,184 for the entire week the index gained nearly 2%. the broader topix lost 0.4% on friday. moving to judge stocks, mitsubishi motors added more than 5%. investors cheered carlos ghosn's vow to turn them around after the mileage cheating scandal. nissan meanwhile gains 0.6%. nintendo shares slumped 6% after the annual music festival. kashimoto in western japan. he uses his reputation together with top musicians from across the world. reflecting the meaning of the festival's name. >> wonderful location. it was a great atmosphere. i think everybody had wonderful spirits. >> reporter: daishin's career started early. at 3 he started playing the violin. he trained in the u.s., japan, and germany and won an international competition at the age of 17. he became a high-demand and has played with many maestros. he eventually went on to become the first concert master of the berlin philharmonic. one of the best orchestras in the world. and daishin came up with the idea of holding his own festival in japan after being inspired by one in france. >> it's a similar kind of veryy homemade with lots of volunteers inside a castle. it's a very, very beautiful and touching festival. from the first time i was there, i was so amazed and so touched by it that i wanted to do something like this in japan. >> reporter: daishin discovered that japanese audiences tend to feel tense when they go to classical concerts. so he wanted to create one that was accessible. he set the ticket price as low as $10. to realize that, daishin does everything himself. choosing concert programs and rehearsal schedules. he also asked his m musical friends to come to japan without pay. >> it's a great -- you know, it's's a great honor to be here for me. we're happy to be here. >> in october we always have that little spot in the diary for daishin and great company of musicia musicians. because it is very special. >> reporter: more than 1,000 people gather for the two days of concerts. local volunteers also support daishin. >> it's about communication. i think it's going fantastic. the relationship between the volunteers and artists is always very special. they take so good care of us. i love it. it's wonderful. >> reporter: ten years have passed since daishin started this festival. it's now one of the major events representing the region. local citizens young and old come to enjoy the music in a different atmosphere. >> translator: it was really wonderful.l. i haven't't come to this kind o outdoor concert for awhile. but today's concert really flew by. >> translator: sounds of crickets were mixed in with the music. that and the fine weather made the outdoor concert very refreshing. >> i don't really want to change so much of it. i think it shouldn't be a huge, huge festival. i think it's pretty much right now. i hope it doesn't stop at 10 or 20 or 30. i hope it goes forever. >> reporter:
