Reporter natasha, some very sad news to report tonight. It was earlier today just in that creek just behind me near that creek about 75 to a hundred yards upstream from where we are now that private search teams discovered caymans body. The body was discovered near a portion of the creek that lies within the boundaries of the familys property. He was last seen wednesday evening around 6 30 p. M. Leaving his parents house near Newtown Square and walking out the front door. It snowed heavily on thursday hampering search efforts for the hundreds that volunteered. Officials with the Delaware CountyDistrict Attorneys Office said the boys body was discovered under snow near the creek and that local Newtown Square police are leading the investigation. We spoke not long ago with the head of the greater philadelphia search and rescue team that made the discovery. We want to help the family have closure and thats what we consider our job but were here for the subject the Police Department and the family to help bring them closure and so that this community can get back to normal. Reporter and the family did release a statement through a Facebook Page called find cayman not long ago. That statement said in part please understand the family is still processing and struggling with this most recent news, but they would like to thank all of the thousands of people over the last five days who have come together to support the family to find cayman back here live we did talk to officials with the Delaware CountyDistrict Attorneys Office. Today a special mass was held for officer Robert Wilson iii at a church in the north philadelphia neighborhood where he was killed. Cherri gregg from our sister station kyw news radio attended the Service Today at 23rd and lehighism they lit candles and offered special prayers at saint martin de porris Catholic Church trying to make sense out of a senseless death of a father son and protects Police OfficerRobert Wilson, iii. Its just unbelievable. A fine upstanding man with two children. Reporter dozens of officers from the 22nd and 39th Police District stood at the rear of the church as parishoners gave them a standing ovation. The Police Officers, they do a brave job every day. Reporter pastor steven thorn organized the service and preached that although officer wilson was not a member of the parish he was rooted in the community. He would patrol the area. Perhaps he drove past here going to game stop on thursday afternoon. Reporter officer wilson died a hero protecting customers at game stop at 22nd and lehigh avenue as brothers Ramon Williams and carleton hipps robbed the store. Wilson was there to buy a gift for his son but exchanged gunfire and died when he was fatally shot in the head. Reporter but this parish and these officers are not focused on his violent end. Instead, theyre trying to find peace the only way they know how. Like the many police cars here outside of this parish, officer Robert Wilson, iii protected this church and died in service of this community and so the faithful here at this parish took up a special collection for his family just a token of their appreciation. The two brothers are charged with murder. 29yearold carleton hipps remains hospitalized and 24yearold Ramon Williams was arraigned on saturday. And a show of support and a rally for peace at the north philadelphia game stop where officer wilson was killed. A crowd gathered at the 22nd and lehigh with signs saying stop killing our philly cops. The rally was organized by operation save our city which aims to promote peace in philadelphia and to raise awareness to the violence in the city. So, again todays high right where it should be coming in at 50. So, well call it mild even though could be warmer but its been awhile since we had temperatures this warm. Elsewhere just to the north still a little bit of snow pack to deal with deeper up in allentown and reading. Temperatures there in the mid and upper 40s. We had a westerly wind today. That continues. That actually helps warm us up a little bit. It down slopes off the mountains. Heres where we are right now. Mid and upper 40s, still at 50 degrees this hour in dover delaware, 48 wilmington and philadelphia as well as northeast philadelphia. Quakertown and willow grove both checking in at 46 degrees. All is quiet on storm scan3 for now. Clear skies. Some clouds will start to build in later tonight. Little weak disturbance comes through could touch off a few sprinkles or even a few areas of light freezing drizzle to the north very early tomorrow morning but most areas stay dry but not a bad monday. A car found in a ditch off route 13 in new castle. Inside two shotting victims one dead and as eyewitness News ReporterSteve Patterson shows us the focus now of this investigation is on another vehicle discovered just down the road. Reporter the investigation into what happened sunday morning starts with whats under that yellow tarp. There are numerous bullet holes in the side of the vehicle y reporter Delaware State Police corporal jeff hail says a passerby found this gray minivan in a ditch along northbound route 13 in new castle at about 5 00 sunday morning. The samaritan called police when they saw what was inside. It appears that the male and female were both shot. Reporter police say a 33yearold wilmington man was found slumped over the passenger seat and pronounced dead. The driver, a 33yearold wilmington woman was taken to the hospital. Shes in stable condition. As soon as shes well enough to be interviewed they will be talking to her. Reporter then sometime during the Investigation Police made another discovery,. A secondary vehicle was located on i495 northbound just south of route 13. Reporter that puts the second vehicle just around the exit less than a mile away from the original scene. Police say they found evidence near that second scene to link everything together. They are attempting to locate the owner of that vehicle and conduct interviews of him and of any witnesses that may have seen what had occurred but right now we cant say that was actually a suspect vehicle. Reporter no suspects have been named. Police are waiting to notify family before they release the names of the victim. New castle delaware Steve Patterson cbs3 Eyewitness News. Developing now, a woman is fighting for her life after a man shot her eight times and then turned the gun on himself. It happened late this morning on the 4500 block of spruce street in West Philadelphia inside an apartment home. Police say the gunman and the woman were neighbors and that the man was angry over her making noise as well as other issues over their two years of rendering at that apartment home. Now, new information about a deadly car crash in mercer county, new jersey. Police say the two people who died were coast guard cadets who immigrated from the country of georgia. A third cadet 21yearold Joel Mcarthur was injured in the crash. Mcarea that your from berks county pennsylvania. Two cars collided on route 31 saturday morning in hopewell township. Thats a little weak disturbance that should come in very early monday morning between 3 00 a. M. And 6 00 a. M. There could be some cold air in place especially the Lehigh Valley poconos where we could get light freezing drizzle if that precipitation hold. Elsewhere everybody just stays drive. Nice rebound tomorrow. Again high temperatures low to maybe mid50s with a decent amount of sunshine in the afternoon. Our next storm starts to move in to us. It will spread clouds into the region so that cools us down a little berks highs still not bad, upper 40s but watch out for some light rain to develop late in the after into the evening hours. It should be gone by wednesday morning and we should see some sunshine. That will boost the temperatures back up to the low and mid50s for the afternoon highs. Monday morning some rain showers north of the city maybe a little bit of frozen precipitation up into the poconos some light freezing drizzle its very weak and very small scale not taking up a whole lot of real city. By the afternoon were back into sunshine. Tuesday here come the clouds again. Most of the day stays drive. Its late in the afternoon evening what was that see rain moving in. Should be gone by wednesday morning. Maybe some clouds linger through the first half of wednesday. How much rain . Not a whole lot which is a good thing because we have a lot of pack to deal with.
