New jersey is closed this weekend as governor Chris Christie and the democrat Led Legislature try to hammer out a budget deal. Good evening everyone, im Natasha Brown. Thank you so much for joining us. It is the first state shutdown since 2006. At stake a nearly 35 billiondollar spending plan. Its now a war of words between the governor and the legislature. Eyewitness News ReporterHenry Rossoff has the latest. Reporter confused drivers were greeted by locked doors at local dmv offices today unable to accomplish even the most basic of business. I was hoping to get my registration fixed today but apparently not. Reporter he asked us what was going on. Bottom line is dmvs are closed. Reporter after we explained she told us her registration expires today. That sucks. So and i cant drive, i cant do anything on the road. Reporter and so far lawmakers cant seem to get anything done except point fingers. Governor Chris Christie shut down nonessential state offices and operations after there was no budget vote last night. He put up posters blaming Assembly SpeakerVincent Prieto for not allowing a vote that would include stricter Insurance Regulations for horizon Blue Cross Shield shutdown was completely unnecessary. I was ready to sign a budget yesterday. Im still willing to sign were untoday. Reporter but prieto fired back saying new insurance rules are a topic for another day. How do you get a budget and blame the only guys thats trying to get it there . Again, this is a hostage crisis and this is unacceptable. Reporter meanwhile the impasse means cars cannot pass into state parks during the busy Holiday Weekend. She had to uturn her minivan full of children at rancocas state park. Not fair to the normal working people, you know, in our families, you know, so they need to stop being so selfish and come together and make up something. Now we cant take our families to enjoy the day. Unlike the dmv which will remain closed throughout the Government Shutdown there are some essential services that will be active during the shutdown. We have been monitoring this line of very strong showers and storms as it pushes through west to east across the Delaware Valley. Lets take you to storm scan3 so you can see exactly whats going on here. Lots of heavy rainfall. Tons of thunder tons of lightning and also some very strong winds. Associated with this line of storms as it continues to make its way through across the Delaware Valley. We have several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings that have been issued. Well show you a look at who is currently under these warned storms at this point in time. Severe thunderstorm warnings for Burlington Camden gloucester philadelphia counties. This is until 6 15 this evening. We also have Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for the northern portion of this line of storms for Hunterdon Mercer middlesex counties. This is until 6 30 p. M. As these storms continue to push their way off toward the east. Extremely heavy rainfall right now in philadelphia. This is going to be impacting several folks to the east here very soon. Its moving to the east at around 20, 25 Miles Per Hour so lets track this out for you so you can see who is going to be impacted here in the near future. So, you can look for folks like old bridge, jackson, you folks need to have a huge heads up, 6 26 for old bridge, 6 32 for jackson and then we also have a severe thunderstorm watch that remains in effect until 9 p. Well see you soon. Now a developing story at this hour. West Goshen Police release new surveillance pictures of the suspects pickup truck in the murder of bianca roberson. Authorities say the man behind the wheel of this red pickup truck shot and killed the 18yearold girl on wednesday afternoon after they were trying to merge into the same lane. The driver is described as a man between the ages of 30 and 40 with a medium build, blond or light brown hair. He is considered armed and extremely dangerous at this point. Crime stoppers is now offering a 5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case. Also a water main break forces the shutdown of a major intersection in west philly. Residents used brooms to try to help clear away the mud at 61st and haverford. The water main broke around 5 oclock this morning turning the 6000 block into more of a lake. Right now the philadelphia water departmentally is working to try to fix that main as quickly as possible. And flames damaged Camden County home. Firefighters got the call at about 12 30 this morning to this home on the 3200 block of horner avenue in pennsauken. No one was hurt luckily. The fire was placed under control in just about 20 minutes or so. So far no word on how that fire started. And it will now cost you a little bit more to ride septa starting today. Thanks to an acrosstheboard fare increase. Electronic cards are token fares have increased from 1. 80 to two dollars. Cash fares jumped to 2. 50. A weekly trans pass is 25. 50 now. Septa says the increase is expected to bring in an additional 25 million in operating revenue the next fiscal year. Police meantime are now investigating a mass shooting in downtown little rock, arkansas. They say at least 25 people were shot early this morning during a concert at tower ultra lounge. Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson released a statement praying for the victims of the shooting. Wendy gillette has more now from new york. [gunfire] reporter the barrage of gunfire was broadcast on Facebook Live from inside a nightclub in little rock, arkansas. Panicked club goers ran for their lives to get away from the chaos while dodging bullets. Got shot man. Reporter Cruz Williams hid under a pool table. I lay in wait for the gunshots to stop but they went on for about 10 minutes. Police believe several people got into an argument and gunfire was exchanged injuring dozens. The youngest victim is just 16 years old. All the individuals were injured either being trampled or trying to exit the location. Reporter broken glass from the second floor of the club littered the ground below. Police also shut down several streets in the area to search for suspects. But no arrests were made. Investigators were back at the crime scene collecting evidence saturday. Officials say crime is getting worse in little rock. There have been a dozen driveby shootings in nine days. We know that weve got to use a hammer. We got to use a big hammer on the people who would do violence with guns and hurt people. Well, were getting our first look at the weapon used in yesterdays deadly hospital shooting in new york. Police released this photo of the am15 rifle. Authorities say dr. Henry bellow a former employee brought the arrive kneel bronx lebanon hospital underneath of a white lab coat. Bellow shot and killed one person wounded six others before taking his own life. Yesterday five are in critical condition, three have been downgraded to be stable and doing quite well. We are happy with their progress. One particular patient is Still Critical and stabilized but we feel he will need additional surgery. The investigators say bellow resigned from the hospital back in 2015 amid allegations of sexual harassment. Now las vegas is known as sin city and it has adding the use of marijuana as its list of indulges. A 10 percent tax on sales is that expected to bring in more than 60 million over the next two years for the education system. Because marijuana is still illegal at the federal level, it will not be sold at nevada resorts including casino hotels. And this week pennsylvania made more moves to make medical marijuana available but legislature has no plans to legalize recreational marijuana. Delaware is debating whether to do it as well. And tonight we are hearing from an off duty firefighter who came to the rescue of two survivors of a fiery small plane crash. It was all caught on camera near los angeles. The twin engine cessna crashed on the busy 405 freeway yesterday. John medford was driving home at the time and watched as fire engulfed the small plane as it came down. He initially decided for his own safety to stay back but seeing the pilot and his wife made him run right toward those flames. Wife that was the passenger i seen her face and head pop up out of the passenger side. If she could be there i thought i could be there. Medford dragged the wife out of the plane and went back for the husband and off duty nurse and a Nurse Practitioner took care of them until paramedics arrived. We have plenty of thunder and lightning. Were dealing with a Flash Flood Warning for portions of berks lehigh counties. This is until about 8 15 so there is so much going on. We have a Severe Thunderstorm Warning that has been issued for Hunterdon MercerMiddlesex Somerset counties. This is until 6 30 p. M. And this is for winds in excess around 60 Miles Per Hour not to mention the extremely heavy rainfall. We did have a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for philadelphia. That has expired because it has weakened in that area. Were still dealing with the thunder, lightning strong winds and also the extremely heavy rainfall. We still need to be taking extra precaution even though that warning has been has been canceled for the philadelphia area. Severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for the rest of the Delaware Valley though but i have a feeling that well see some of these counties being chiseled away at as we head into the next couple hours because they are at this point in time behind that strong line of storms and things are going to be quieting down very much for those areas. Heres a look at that Flash Flood Warning you a telling you about. Already saw over 2inches of rainfall in portions of berks, lehigh counties. This Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until about 8 15 p. M. Heres some great news though. Well see some improvement as we head into your sunday. The rest of the Holiday Weekend once we get past the the next one or two hours things looking much better. Tons of sunshine, even less in the way of humidity. Plenty of sunshine on monday, more comfortable than what we saw throughout the day and Independence Day looking fantastic as well so some much Better Weather is heading our way. Lots of rain cooled air across the Lehigh Valley into the poconos. Were in the 70s. Even philadelphia checking in around 74 degrees at this hour. The official High Temperature today at Philadelphia International airport was 89. Of course at times it felt a lot warmer than that and that was because the dewpoints were way up there in the 70s for much of the day t now dewpoints have fallen back into the upper 60s in allentown mount pocono, 70 in philadelphia. Thats definitely making it feel very uncomfortable out there. Dewpoints breaking down as we head into the next day or so into the low to mid 60s through the remainder of the Holiday Weekend. While youll still notice the humidity its going to be more comfortable compared to what we dealt with throughout the day today. So these storms are going to be pushing off on the east. By 9 p. M. Things very quiet other than a stray shower or storm in the poconos. Heading into the overnight hours tonight were dealing with partly cloudy skies, a couple of clouds in the morning. That will be followed by plenty of sunshine as we head into sunday so definitely Better Weather heading our way. Down the shore great beach day in the forecast for the next three days. Plenty of sunshine and High Temperatures in the 80s. Tonight partly cloudy warm muggy overnight low around 72 degrees. Tomorrow is going to be a fantastic day.
