A developing story this morning, a darby boro Police Officer is dead this morning after a shooting at his home. Police say the 26 yearold officer was shot once in the chest while offduty inside of his Delaware County home, authorities immediately launched an investigation and they are expect to file homicide charges later today. Police say it happened just after 4 30 p. M. At this home in the 600 block of magnolia drive, officers responded to a report of the shots fired arrived on the scene and found a four year veteran officer in an upstairs bedroom with a single gunshot wound to the chest. The the officer was taken to Presbyterian Hospital where he died. The the parttime officer was also a yeadon fire fighter and will be missed. He was a shining star in the department. He was an even tempered nice guy, anybody that met him, they always had a good word for him. He knew how to talk to people. Reporter police say it was like losing a member of the family, and that veteran officer had a Bright Future on the force. Police say a woman was also in the home when they arrived and that home had previously had domestic disputes reports filed from that location. Officer Darryl Cathey is accused of pulling up to the 12th district yesterday morning behind the wheel of the patrol car with three flat tires. Investigators say a supervisor who came outside smelled alcohol on catheys breath. Cathey is now accused of assault ago this superior when he tried to take him into custody.
