carol, thank you. 6:02. several residents are rushed to the hospital after a carbon monoxide incident in montgomery county this happened inside a home in the 100 block of airy street in norristown. cherry greg from kyw news radio is live at the the scene with the very latest, cherrie. >> good morning nicole. eight people including a paramedics were sickened last night due to high levels of the carbon monoxide here in the 100 block of west airy lane. fire officials say resident of that home across the street had hook up a generator in their basement after their utilities had been shut off. luckily a a neighbor had a working carbon monoxide detector that went off and they called 911. when fire officials arrived on the scene they in immediately identified high levels of co, along with this block of row homes with carbon monoxide levels as high and as deadly as a thousand parts per million in some of the homes. generators caused carbon monoxide to backup in the homes causing eight people to be sickened as well as several animals. two of the people had to be flown to the hospital for treatment and are in critical condition. the here's norristown fire chief tom owe done will he will. are. >> they are odorless, tasteless and they go from zero parts per million to high levels of carbon monoxide level in a instant and here we have four people transported to a trauma center as a result of it. >> reporter: as i mentioned a a total of eight people living on this block were i can is end, four rushed to the hospital, others taken locally two are in critical condition a cording to the cdc symptoms of the the poisoning are flu-like and include headache, nausea dizziness chest pain and confusion. thank goodness, nicole, a neighbor had a working carbon monoxide detector because if for that, cherri, thank you. a police involved shooting is under investigation in the olney neighborhood. an officer was chasing a suspect around 1:00 a.m. when he fired his weapon. the suspect was not injured and was taken in custody. investigators are on the scene in the 5600 block of north lawrence street looking for a shell casing, or a bullet hole. also new this morning fire rips through a row home in north philadelphia it happened in the 2900 block of north 25th street around 3:00 o'clock. fire fighters quickly place that had fire under control. no would be was injured and causes under investigation. police in riot gear make arrests as protest in cleve street after after a police officer was acquitted in the fatal shooting of two unarmed black motorist. and, they found their car courtroom. verdict comes after a four week trial, in the shooting death of timothy russell and melissa williams. the the judge ruled prosecutors failed to prove brillo fired the fatal shots. >> the defendant proved by a preponderance of the evidence that he is legally excused from liability. >> reporter: demonstrators outside courthouse expressed their frustration of the ruling. brillo it was only officer criminal willly charged despite a high speed chase involving about 100 of the collogues. the pursuit began when 1979 chevy malibu driven by russell apparently backfired while passing monoxide incident in montgomery county. this all happened inside a home on the 100 block of airy street in norristown. cherri greg from our sister station kyw news radio 1060 is live at the scene with the very latest, cherri. >> reporter: resident on this block are counting their blessings this morning after several people became sick from deadly levels of carbon monoxide last night. now fire officials had to rush for four people and transport four others to area hospitals. and the entire problem emanated from this row home here, in the center of the the block here on west airy lane. officials say residents had their utilities shut off and brought a gas generator which they hook up in their basement. carbon monoxide fumes backed up and spread throughout the homes on this block but luckily a neighbor in smelled fumes and had a working co detector that went off and called 911. when fire officials arrived and co levels here were as high and as deadly as a thousand parts per million. the the gas sickened eight people, two critically as well as several animals. two of the animals including a german shepherd and another dog had to be treated. one of the neighbors a she is upset because this could have been a deadly situation. >> it could have been a worse situation then what it was. people could have been dead. that is crazy. you know, we all could have been killed. i don't know how people can be so reckless like that and don't even worry about their neighbors. >> reporter: her niece and nephew and sister were all taken to the hospital for treatment, she mentioned the residents of this home were visibly ill when fire officials brought them out last night. symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include chest pain, nausea confusion. now the cdc may call carbon machine oxide poisoning a silent killer because gas fumes are odorless and colorless many times but luckily here, a neighbor had a working co detector and was able to call 911. and was able to say
