officer is in the hospital after an assault. >> we do know suspect is in custody. right out to "eyewitness news" reporter tran dough, what can you tell us? >> well, rahel, jim there is officer in stable condition at aria-torresdale hospital with an injury to his head. i'm toll he works in the eighth district, 20 year veteran. meanwhile the person arrested is just 17 years old. but take a look at the scene here. inside this park wood shopping plaza, very busy, lots of shops here. and you can see that police remain on the scene with part of the parking lot taped off. all started just after 4:00 a.m. police received call about a man with a gun in the parking lot of this shopping center, on the 12,000 block of academy road in the city park wood section. an officer shot the young man and attempted to frisk him, but struggle ensued. slammed the officer to the ground which caused him to hit his head. police say the teen also fits description every man who robbed nearby 7-eleven at gunpoint early sunday morning. here chief inspector scott small. >> not only is this individual now going to be charged with assault on police, but northeast is looking into the possibility that he may have committed this robbery point of gun. >> now fortunately, officer did arrive on the scene hiding behind one of the businesses here, they've in the bound that gun that they are looking for. the additional breaking news, police investigating two separate fatal shootings in philadelphia's log and section. the most recent happened here at old york road and ruscomb street. medics found the victim on the sidewalk earlier this morning with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. police have not yet identified the victim or a motive. detectives did find surveillance cameras in the area. they hope that those cameras will provide more answers in this crime. >> just 1 mile from there, another deadly shooting eight hours earlier. police say man shot twice around 7:30 last night on the 1900 block of roberts avenue. police returned the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. so far no arrest haves been made. if you have any information please contact philadelphia police. >> and more breaking news this morning, fatal car accident in wynnefield height after a driver loses control and strikes an ooh at this at this pole. rushed to the 4400 block of overbrook avenue around 3:00 a.m. authorities are still trying to figure out what caused the deadly crash. >> and, septa police this morning following several leads after a brawl at a septa subway station. that will was caught on camera. >> this happened thursday, at the subway race station, police say it all started over a snowball fight. mother took this video but declined to be interviewed. she said her daughter was kick in the head. there are photos of people believed to be involved in the brawl, but police say it is too early to say they're suspect. >> happening today, jury selection for the trial morning. >> well, good morning, rahel, jim. that office nerve stable condition at aria-torresdale hospital. i'm told he works in the eighth district, is 20 year veteran, but take a look at the scene here which remains cased off, where the assault happened. police tell me the person arrested just 17 years old. police say he also fit the description every man who robbed 7-eleven at gunpoint early sunday morning, that is just steps away from the parking lot here, now, this assault happened just after 4:00 a.m. police received call about a man with a gun in the parking lot after shopping center, on the 1200 block, or 12,000 block every academy road in the park wood section. the officer stopped the young man, attempt topped frisk him, struggle ensuedment the teen slammed the officer to the ground. officer hit his head, briefly lost consciousness, the teen ran off, responding officers then found him about 20 minute later. behind one of the businesses here. >> the individual we do have in
