"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live where fire fighters say they have had a tough time putting a fire out, justin. >> reporter: brooke and jim, that is right, tough time and so much this morning that this fire was not as bad as it could have been right now we are told there are no injuries to the public or to fire fighters, again a big relief. at this church brick basement helped contain that late night fire that could have been so much worse. looking at video from overnight about 11:45 last night pennsauken fire department, pulled up to the 7500 block of river road where they found heavy smoke rising from the temple of praise ministry lower level. fire officials say 120 year-old wood framed church basement was in fact burning and in that dark heavy smoke their fire fight was challenging. stacked tables, chairs and other furnishing made maneuvering difficult. so they called in a second alarm to boost their manpower helping them to get this fire contained at 12:45 this morning. with the shot still settling in some members are moving to sunday service planning. >> we have not decided as of yet and it all depend on the smoke and sanctuary park and maybe they can use the sanctuary area. >> we have a calm cautions and very fortunate nobody got hurt and fire was limited to the basement with minor extensions. >> and you are looking live at members here throughout the night as that fire was for the and they also went inside and pulled out things from the basement here, again that fire was contained to the basement, thanks in part to the work of fire fighters overnight and also because fire fighters say the brick basement helped trap those flames down there in that heavy smoke. at this time again there are no injuries to report and cause of the fire remains under investigation and also members are now still planning where to have church on sunday morning. we are live, justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news", brooke and jim, back inside to you. police are looking for clues to help them find a gun hand who killed a man in south philadelphia. investigators say someone shot the man in the head around 10:00 o'clock last night in the 1800 block of snider avenue. he died at the scene, there is no word on what led to that shooting. another fatal shooting in southwest philadelphia, last night officers say they found a 24 year-old man shot in the back of his house. on the 5800 block of fernwood street. he was turning 25 today. police say they hope surveillance video can help them track down the killer. police believe shooting of two people in philadelphia's fair hill neighborhood is drug related. thirty-seven year-old man and a 23 year-old woman were found shot on the 2800 block of northerly street. both are in stable condition. investigators say they have found drugs on the scene. no word yet on a suspect. police in north, people in north philadelphia, excuse me are looking for ways to end gun violence. "eyewitness news" was at a public meeting at emmanuel institutional baptist church. community groups came together, to look for solutions, to end, the continued violence in local neighborhoods. curtis i don't think we will get in on the wet weather from it for now, very, very tranquil. it is steamy today, on our wednesday we can expect dew points higher but crisper air returns, already by tomorrow. very quick return to the summertime steam and humidity. more moisture in the air. you would see them in the distance but thin sort of more dense fog that is out there, overlooking pleasant valley >> this happened in college park maryland. the driver says bus started to make noise and had brake warning light on. minutes later she smelled smoke and noticed fire in her side-view mirror. she temperatures throughout the course of the day we're in the 60's, mid to upper 60's but we have in problem hitting mid 70's by the time we are wrapping up a typical morning rush at 9:00 a.m. and back in the 90-degree territory later today. that is a day and afternoon high that does flirt with the record. normal high is, at this point, only in the upper 70's. so, it is he well above average today. meantime you're witness weather health report, air quality as well as pollen, as well as heat index all up at a moderate level. i did have to take my allergy medication today so if you are a one of
