gregg is live at the scene where police are piecing together exactly what happened. cherri, what can you tell us. >> reporter: good morning, rahel. yes, a tragic scene what likely started out as fun for st. patrick's day weekend has ended with a 24 year-old man, stabbed to death here, near corner of 19th and rittenhouse square. the as you can see this is a very active scene with police tape, and they were crime markers here earlier, and as detectives from homicide, and the crime scene unit the investigate. police are not releasing many details but what we do know so far is that the victim was out again for st. patrick's day weekend where there was some sort of an argument. incident ended with a 24 year-old man stabbed, he was rushed to hahnemann hospital where he was pronounced dead. police say suspect fled down 19th street, going south, the crime scene investigators picked up the victim shoes, and the green necklace and coat a good samaritan used to help stop rick tim's bleeding. all of those items have been tagged, bagged and taken with police. back out here live, the scene was very emotional just a few moments ago as people who appeared to have known the victim arrived, one man was visibly upset by the scene. the as for next steps, police say they spoke to at least two eyewitnesses. they will pull surveillance tape and try to figure out just why this happened and who did target, but just in the rock place at the wrong time. the it happened on the 400 block of southford street the in west philadelphia around 1:11:30 last night. the authorities say the 18 year-old girl was sitting on her steps as she was hit by one bullet. so far no suspects are in custody. this morning a chester police officer is in the hospital after he was shot during some kind of a pursuit. twenty-five year veteran captain alan davis is in stable condition the with the gunshot wound to his arm. the shoot the out left one person dead and another in the hospital, and now investigation is underway. as "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff tells us, community members are demanding answers. >> reporter: it was report of the vehicle matching the description of the stolen one that started with what became a deadly exchange. >> when i got in the carry seen that they pulled over the the silver, whatever that car was with tinted windows. >> reporter: she had been stopped on parker street and union around 4:00 in the afternoon and saw officers begin to approaching a car. >> they were telling the people in the car, to surrender with their hand up and stuff. >> reporter: according to police three occupants remained inside but were uncooperative. >> it is our understanding that someone from the car began shooting at police, police returned fire and we now have a situation where we have a policeman in the hospital shot, we have a deceased party from the car, and we have a injured party from the car, also at the hospital. >> reporter: family of occupants from the cara long with police gathered at crozer-chester medical center, officer injured captain alan davis is a 25 year veteran of the chester police force. >> everybody came out of the hospital slapping on the cops like trying to figure out why you are not telling us anything. >> reporter: as evening continues, tensions on the street grew, police had to become physically involved telling "eyewitness news" that they had had bottles and rocks thrown at them. >> it is unfortunate on both end. is there nothing good about this. unfortunately, you know, we have a situation where someone's actions, caused a terrible incident. >> reporter: there was at least one other person inside that vehicle and they were taken in police custody uninjured. police are investigating whether or not that vehicle they pulled over was, in fact, stolen. the reporting from crozer-chester medical center, alexandria hoff for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". a security scare at philadelphia international airport, after a pilot, used his handgun inside a bathroom. gun was inside a toilet bag and when he he return to retrieve the bag, it was gone. airport delayed all flights while authorities searched for the gun. investigators later determined an airport janitor stole the bag. >> the fact that they got the gun it is great, but we have to take care every day. i travel all over the world. you have to be on it. if you see something, say something. >> reporter: the incident caused 16 flights to be delayed for nearly an hour. airport janitor is now charged with theft and other charges. the. and march madness when a car crashed into a 7-eleven on broad and diamond street. it happened at 10:00 o'clock last night, the car hit the store and then backed out of the building causing some damage the to the front turned tragic here outside of 1830, 19th and rittenhouse square where police have confirmed a 24 year-old man was stabbed just before 3:30 a.m., outside of this high rise luxury condominium building. as you can see, this is still an active scene, homicide and crime scene investigators are here, they just removed the police tape and crime markers, police are still in the releasing many details but what we necessity so far, that the victim was out par i go when police say there was some type of an argument that ensued and the incident ended with that 24 year-old man stabbed. he was rushed to
