"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo live at the scene. jan? >> reporter: rahel, jim, good morning, we just spoke to the fire marshall's office, right now, they are trying to determine the cause of this fire, but at this point, it is much too early to say what sparked the flames. out here on scene this morning, they have been taking pictures of the area, right behind me, they tell me that this was a garage fire, that extended to the home. the good news though this morning is that the family that was inside of that home, a family of six, they were all able to get out unhurt. i spoke to the owner not too long ago. he says a philadelphia police officer passing by at the time noticed the flames, and helped him get his family to safety. now the fire here on the 4800 block of mulberry street started just after 1:30 this morning. the fire and windy conditions quickly grew to two alarm err. now the owner tells me he was getting drink every water when he noticed the flames. meantime a philly cop saw what was happening, too, and together they ran through this home getting the man's wife and four kids out including his one year old child. they are all okay this morning. some neighbors were evaculated from their homes for short time as well while fire crews battled the flames. it was frightening night for the entire neighborhood. >> it was a scary thing, because i know she lives over there with her family. and she has children in the house, and i was just hoping and praying to god that everybody got out safe. >> the cops helped me a lot. i mean, the cops around here, you can see the fire, and start running. i mean, thank god the cops are around here. >> and that was the homeowner. he declined to be identified this morning. but he goes onto tell us that the damage is just too great inside every his home. so he and his family won't be able to stay here. again, he is thankful they have their lives, and he is crediting that philly police officer for that this morning. reporting live in frankford, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", rahel, jim, back into you. >> thanks, jan. firefighter town battle blaze on mount penn in berks county, this is from reading magazine, fire started about 5:30 monday evening near reading high school. at last check, crews on scene have requested more manpower to help fight the blaze. we are toll there are no injuries or damage to homes. of course we'll update you with more information as it becomes available. >> and new this morning, police are is her clinic for the man who barged into a mayfair home and pistol whipped a woman inside. home invasion took place along the 3400 block of welling ton street at about 11:00 last night. the woman refused medical treatment. the suspect reportedly ran away without taking anything. >> well, bucks county church is banning one of its former youth leaders from its property after he accused of sexually assaulting two teen girls inside the chapel. take a look, 22 year old michael, middletown township police say the bucks county man is accused of sexually assaulting a 15 and 13 year old. a neighbor of his said she has known him since he was a little boy. >> just a great kid. never any problems or anything. i just can't believe it. i'm in total shock. >> well, he served as youth leader at oxford valley chapel, where the senior pastor says the church is fully cooperating with the police during the investigation.
