sending two others to the hospital. the call came in around 2:00 this morning, to an accident, on the 1600 block of grant avenue. police say the impact of the accident sent one of the cars crashing into an utility pole. >> that vehicle we believe was involved in a auto accident with a second vehicle. then is it struck a light pole in the parking lot. that light pole was broken, causing downed wires, live wires. >> now, two people in the other car are in stable condition. the cause of the crash is under investigation. >> what a mess. and what a clean up. water main break flooded shopping center in philadelphia's east falls neighborhood filling millions of gallon of water. the main is now off. the clean up is underway. but not before the break ruined cars, damaged businesses, and angered customers. and as "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt tells us, it is not the first time this happened here. >> force striking union workers to go back on the job? natasha brown explains why the transit agency is now taking legal action. >> still, no deal, and no injunction, on day four of the septa strike. a judge did not end the strike today, involving about 4700 member of the transport workers union local 234. septa went to court friday evening, in a emergency attempt to force employees back to work saying the strike presents a clear and present danger to the health and safety of riders. but the judge said there was a lack of evidence to back up that claim. and did not order an immediate injunction at this point. >> job number one to settle the strike. as importantly is our passengers who won't lie down, why we can't resolve this strike, and just watch our passengers suffer. >> we recognize the strike is a inconvenience, but that's not a basis under pennsylvania law to grant an injunction against striking employees. >> twu workers walked off the job at 12:01 tuesday morning, shutting down buses, trolleys, subways, services that provide as many as 900,000 rides a day. at issue, pension, healthcare, work rules. in a city where septa's record show 68% of families don't own a car, they are argue there is a dire need for mass transportation. also, arguing, talk about what a great job this is. but there is nothing worse than a day like today. >> nypd commissioner james o'neil reflecting sadly on a day one of his sergeants is killed, another is in the hospital, with a gunshot wounds to the leg. a tragedy that began with those sergeants responding to a call of a robbery on beech avenue in the bronx at the home of the suspect's estranged wife. >> at 2:45 p.m., female called 911 state ago male armed with a gun had broke mean her apartment. >> as czar approached the scene, they found the suspect, 35 year old manuel, about half mile away from the original robbery in a red suv. that's where the deadly shoot-out began with roseles first first. >> during the exchange every gunfire, two uniform sergeants were shot. the suspect was pronounced dead video captures unbelievable video of car slamming into a gas pump annex providing and this all happened after a long police chase. take a look. this was in the bronx, new york, the car can be seen crashing through the pump before slamming into another car. moments later, an officer pulled the driver, pulls up, and the driver charges at him, before getting arrested. police say that driver had led them on a 20-mile chase. they say he's suspected in a fatal stabbing of his wife. >> well, a rooster on the loose has people at their wits ends in one pittsburgh neighborhood. the rooster keeps outside the city again, dropping off 34 in woodstown, chilly 35 in trenton this hour, then below freezing in few spots north and west. ambler, 31. twenty-eight cold spot typical out in quakertown at this hour. actually mount pocono, allentown, 37 degrees. very quiet on storm scan3. little disturbance to the north. northern new england, it stays, there producing few clouds, even snow showers breaking out in the mountains of vermont, new hampshire, into maine main. for us nothing but high pressure throughout the entire weekends, skies, mainly clear. a lot of sunshine today, chilly start, the foliage throughout the weekend with temperatures generally in the 50's to near 60 today, with lots of sun. pleasant weekends today, tomorrow, kinds of the same, maybe couple of degrees warmer, lot see in the photo here that police tape is tied to abc news equipment. but when the segment aired live, on good morning america, you couldn't tell where that case ended. the story was about a kidnapping in south carolina. now, sources say, an abc news person placed that tape therefore the purpose of the live shot. abc says the producer is out of the field right now, and that doctor shot is cold outside, especially died this time yesterday. we have the cold air settling in as the winds dropped off. that's some good news, not battling harsh windchills, but you will need the heavier coat for the next few hours before you can get the sun up, really warm temperatures up, but really typical early november weekend, shaping up all across the delaware vale. we have clear skies, again, big difference is those temperatures this morning, right now, compared to 24 hours ago, they were from about seven to 23 degrees colder so that dense cold air really able to settle in, at the surface right now, so sitting at 43 at the airport, but just go outside the city, a lot of mid and even lower 30's in some of the coldest spots at this hour. so again, dealing with temperatures at or maybe even slightly below freezing some of the colds spots. quakertown was at 28, now up to 32 degrees, chilly 35 pottstown, and willow grove, at this hour. good news, nice and dry on storm scan3, no threat of rainfall throughout the weekends, nothing but sunshine, and that's really going to be the trends for the next several days. so this morning, clear, cold, temperatures holding in the 30's, 40's, is not. >> it was like up to my waist. >> everybody was scared to death. >> jose was with his family inside the dollar plus when a water main break sent millions of gallon of water gushing through the baker center parking lot and into storefronts. >> the employees, they shut the door, because the water was coming in. >> with screaming kids they escaped through an exit. about the same time, patricia corneilius made her way out with waist deep water. >> i opened up the door, and of corpse the water went into the car. >> she then did what experts say you shouldn't. started her car, and moved it to drier ground. >> i wasn't even thinking about that, the first thing that came to my minds, let me go get this car. >> something that could endanger yourself and cause further damage to the car, since the car's engine, brakes, steering transmission systems are prone to hidden flood damage. but as these folks watched the water recede, and their cars being towed, they put things into perspective. >> cbs-3, "eyewitness news". it looks like we won't know until monday on whether a judge will order an end to the septa strike. the judge will hear additional testimony on monday. septa wants to force union employees back to work saying that the walk out threatens public safety and the right to vote in tuesday's election. the union is fighting it. job number one is to settle the strike. as returned to court seeking a new trial. victim number two took the stands yesterday. that's the victim that former assistant coach mike mcqueary was assaulted by sandusky in penn state shower. victim two, 29 years old, insist that he was abused by sandusky. sandusky's lawyers say prosecutors hid information about that man during the trial because his story did not help their case. sandusky also testified saying that he did not abuse victim number two. it is the final push to election day. hillary clinton will be in philadelphia with katy perry this evening, for the love trump series. news". two local artists are getting attention for creating a huge election scheme sculpture out of an unusual material, check this out, the white house made out of butter. marie, and jim, had been working on it inside refrigerated tailor in conshohocken all week. they were asked to do it by butter for social media campaign. and just in case you were wondering, all of that butter will eventually be recycled after election day. the philadelphia's getting ready for its seconds annual veterans parade t starts tomorrow at noon at 16 and jfk boulevard. it ends at independence mall. now, last year about 175 groups registered to take part in the parade. a first for the city at that time. this year, organizers have added a festival including food, entertainment, even beer garden. the festival on independence mall runs from 12 doctor 30 to 4:30. well, the search is on for a family that may have been connected to some world war ii era letters. they were discovered in a medford home and given to dillan berwick, he is now trying to find relatives of tom hazleton, who served in the navy. now, the letters are from his wife, eleanor, who lives in audubon, and his father, harry, who lives in collingswood. >> it has clearly been a few years since they've seen each other. because he's in the navy out in the pacific. and she's obviously here in audubon. but it is sad but it is kind of what describes as extra yawn one morning in the spring time and an extra snooze one night in autumn come to be? to discover the roots of autumn one hour of extra sleep, we need to travel back over 100 years. new zealand err george hudson first proposed the idea of daylight saving in 1895. but it was not implemented until germany became the first country to turn the clocks ahead one hour, on april 30th, 1916. the rational was to minimize the use of artificial lighting in order to conserve cold during worlds war one. with the war effort also the reason the united states adopted daylight saving time or fast time as it was called, when president woodrow wilson signed it into law in 1918. has been extended twice in the u.s., with the current schedule introduced in 2007, a product of the energy
