"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo live at the state police barracks along the atlantic city expressway. good morning, jan. >> reporter: jim, brooke, good morning. yep, this is just the latest twist in this ongoing and developing story, philadelphia police say a man showed up at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania last night, and he is somehow connected to the shooting that happened here in south jersey. yesterday they say they took him to southwest detective and have charged him with making a false statement. no word this morning exactly how he is connected. we are awaiting a update from new jersey state police this morning. meantime, take a look at this video, this was just one out of four scenes in south jersey that police were investigating yesterday. this is the wawa, on tilt on road, in egg harbor township around 3:00, that suv riddled with bullet holes, its windows shot out, entire gone, ended up in the wawa parking lot there with four people inside shot and looking for help. police say they were involved in a shooting on the eastbound lanes of the atlantic city expressway, near mile marker 11. shortly after that, suv turned up, troopers located this car on the garden state parkway, just north of the expressway exit. the driver inside that car was okay, but the passenger was dead, shot in the head. police say the two groups had some sort of connection to one another, but they're not saying what that was at this point. in the meantime, police also recovered weapons, from a third location, close to those scenes. and, shutdown part of the a.c. expressway last night, to investigate that road has since reopened. but that's not all. police are also looking into whether more people and more vehicles are involved. now, police do not yet willing to talk about motive for the shooting but they say what happened here yesterday was not random. >> we believe the people involved do know each other, that this was not a random act. >> crazy, it is sad, sad, to even look at it sad. unbelievable. >> now, police have not yet released the names of the people involved, the four men shot and injured were taken to atlantic city medical center for treatment. no word on their conditions this morning. we will continue to follow this story but nor now, brooke, jim, back into you. >> thanks, jan. >> new this morning, man was found shot several times in philadelphia's cobbs creek section. paramedics discovered the victim overnight at 55th and sansom streets. he died at the hospital. investigators say the scene was littered with bullet casings. >> indication that the shooter fired all six shots, very, very close range. it appears there was sort of an execution-type shooting. >> officers still haven't been able to identify the man believed to be in his 20's, but they say the victim was found right outside a storage facility with several surveillance cameras, so that could help in their investigation. >> philadelphia police investigating a shoot that sent two children to the hospital. it happened last night, on the 2100 block of south educating terrace, police say, a 13 year old boy and 12 year old girl were in a upstairs bedroom, and the boy was likely playing with a gun when it went off. the boy was shot in the left hand and the same bullet then hit the little girl in the knee. both are in stable condition. >> then this morning, $76,000 reward for information in the shooting death of gabrielle carter. she is the eight year old girl who was killed near her home in camden last wednesday. meanwhile, we are learning her funeral will be held this coming saturday. >> in other news, bucks county authorities are investigating if a suspect in one burglary is tied to other break-in's. falls township police say steven herman took items from a home on edgemont lane in fairless hills last thursday. police are now investigating if herman broke into other homes and cars in falls and bristol township, and lower makefield, and morrisville. >> well, this morning, we are hearing from the brother after man who died after being sucker punched in the face. it happened in philadelphia's lawncrest section. well, this is the victim, 30 year old marjoekio, seen punched in this video. they call unprovoke attack, happened friday in the 700 block of adams avenue. the victim and his brother had been in the united state for eight years after arriving from guatemala. his brother spoke with "eyewitness news" reporter rahel solomon. >> my brother, only me, i never seen -- i never seen -- >> police are now looking into whether the attack was part of the so-called knock-out game that is where people are unexpectedly punch or hit on the street. >> oh, wow. a century old church is gutted by fire in philadelphia's overbrook neighborhood. church leaders say they plan to rebuild. more than 100 firefighters fought flames for hours yesterday morning, at the good shepherd presbyterian church in lansdowne. famous landmark has been in this neighborhood since 1912, serving five congregations and hundreds of parishioners. >> i mean, just horrible. you can't really -- i can't put into words right now. >> but you can imagine some of the carpentry, crafts that went into it, the stained glass windows were original, all busted out. >> now, no one was hurt in this fire. officials say wiring was likely the cause, and it started in the church's basement. >> this morning, learning more about what happened the moment before a car ended up in a southwest philadelphia auto part store. chopper three was over the scene of the crash yesterday evening, near 70th and elmwood. police say they were chasing the driver of the car before it crashed. one person was taken to the hospital, but it is not clear why they were chasing the car to begin with. police did say the pursuit start in the delaware county. >> camden county police officer was responding to call when his car was hit by another car in camden. this happened yesterday evening, around 6:30, at mt. ephraim and olympia. police tell us a woman driving a pontiac, with kids inside, broadsided the officer's cruiser. no word if anyone was hurt, but the cause of the crash is under investigation. >> well, usually you're asked to keep it down when you are at the library. but some local jazz musicians turned the music up at a local branch last night. >> ♪ >> those smooth sounds, than was the scene at the bellmawr library yesterday, part of camden county library summer music series. members of the camden county college jazz ensemble played for small what he is calling a major speech on immigration. expelling undocumented immigrants, has been a major platform of the trump campaign, but lately, he has appeared unsure about how it would actually work. the fbi is warning state officials to boost they're election security after they say there is evidence hackers targeted data in arizona and illinois this summer. now, the fbi has not said if the hackers were criminals, or employ by the russian government, but harry reid asking the fbi to investigate the threat of russian tampering with the upcoming us elections. >> this morning, indianapolis man is accused of planning an act of domestic terror, authorities say they pulled over 31 year old christopher burn, near a mall two weeks ago. in his car, police say, they found rifle with a homemade silencer and bottled up ammonia and bleach. when those two chemicals are mixed they can create a toxic gas. in court document, has claimed to be, a quote, sovereign citizen, outside of us law, now, having those items is legal, under state law, so prosecutors want federal charges filed against burns, and right now, he faces only six years in jail. >> well, attempted break out caught on camera helps the law catch the would be jail breaker. >> the santa clara county is her i have says this man climbed a fence outside the well many wood correctional facility. he apparently was in such a hurry he left one every his sandles on the fence. sheriff says recapturing the inmate was possible only because of new cameras. >> we have lots of cameras, and they were able to see a small movement it, wasn't normally there, enough that they brought it up on the larger camera, saw it was a person. >> deputies say they grand the inmate, gave him first aid, sent him for medical treatment. he was being any direct impact from the latest system, quite a bit of active toy track, rather indirect impact from systems nearby. starting things offer, taking a look first and for most at hurricane now gaston, look at the circulation, very well defined system, thankfully staying well out to sea. but, it is, you know, certainly miles and miles away, already turning up the surf for us. that's going to lead to moderate rip countries being which we'll discuss. meantime tropical depression number eight, also expected to clip at least the carolinas, but bypass our area, and tropical depression number nine, that went off the coast of cuba. that, too, expected to tape out to sea. so a lot going on in the tropics. and all of it means that you have got some hazards to contend with when it comes to stepping in those waves. so dangerous rip current with wave heights as high as 5 feet. you're down the shore in the next couple of days, really, for the rest of the week. you have got to be you have ally careful. if there are any flags posted, if there is any kind of problem, please, make sure you're following those guidelines, and always stay near those lifeguards. if you do fine yourself, though, that said, in a rip current, you want to swim parallel to the shore, get out that far rip current, and then swim back. meanwhile, tuesday, wednesday, and thursday, for the most part, not looking bad. there is cold front that will be crossing, generally wednesday night into thursday morning, could leave behind quick shower, thunderstorm, but meantime here at the local level, currently, it is looking good. you have high pressure in place, it will keep control of the weather, so as we have sunshine at the shore, see it everywhere else, including the city, as we look far in the distance at center city, from our live neighborhood network. 70 degrees currently, outside palmyra cove nature park here in new jersey, and across the river. as the day goes on, going to heat up with no problem. not terribly humid. by tomorrow start to in the it is getting little steamier. and we will at that point again have to dodge shower or thunderstorm mainly late in the day, and then through early thursday morning, as the cold front crosses. but look at the pay-off. back until the low 80s, starting friday, and into the upcoming weekend. right now september is getting off to really nice looking vehicles are starting to hit the interstate pushing in the southbound direction, we can expect that, southbound side, northbound side kind of looking at really the southbound side keeping my eye on, see flashing light, won't slow you down there, moving out of the way. southbound interstate 95, heating up, overall still looking good. blue route headlight moving in the northbound direct, kind of hard to see, but as you can see, couple of vehicles going by. headlight moving in the northbound direction, approaching route one, you're still looking good. both directions anywhere that we look on the blue route this morning, is looking a lot like that, looking good. the vine closed overnight between the schuylkill and broad for the overnight construction project. you can see now both moving in the westbound side and the eastbound side. looking good, i would say, that the eastbound side is heating up little bit quicker than the westbound side. westbound side, as you jump out of the schuylkill right there, this is what you are being looking at. overall, those every you thinking about jumping on the vine, a-okay, big thugs up. head throughout for all of your neighbors, brooke,
