"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live this morning. the justin, good morning. >> reporter: joe, brooke, good morning, officers were able to chase down and capture that suspect mere minutes after the shooting and bring him here for questioning with homicide detectives, and although they tried with all of their might they were not able to save the victim. a crime scene, probe unfolding on germantown avenue's 2900 block where a man was shot and left for dead about 10:00 p.m. wednesday at 25th district officers, were patrolling within ear shot. >> they immediately responded to that location and within second they saw a male laying on the highway bleeding heavily and they saw another male, running, west on cambria street with a gun in his hand. >> reporter: suspect a 23 year-old man who not only ran, but also tried dumping that gun into nearby bushes. police got him though, and the gun, a revolver, victim a man about age 46 was shot twice. the once in the arm and once in the chest. he was found lying in the pool of blood, near a set of car keys and a cell phone. officers rushed him to temple hospital where he later died. >> not only were officers at right place and at the same time, but observed and saw suspect running from the scene there is a philadelphia housing authority office building at the intersection of germantown and cambria that has numerous exterior cameras. >> reporter: even more surveillance cameras nearby, which could help, expedite the investigation. and the gun found on scene is a revolver which may explain why police did not immediately find shell casings on the scene so with that gun and suspect their case should move quickly. also with surveillance video found nearby, and at this time brooke and joe, no word on a motive. justin finch live at police headquarters, justin, thank you. new this morning someone shot a man multiple times in the franklinville section of north philadelphia it happened shortly before 1:00 a.m. on the 3800 block of percy street. victim was taken by private vehicle to temple hospital and he is in stable condition. developing in maryland this morning nearly one dozen people including two fire fighters are hurt in an apartment fire. eyewitnesses say that they heard a loud, explosion, shortly before midnight. this happened in the silver springs just north of the washington d.c. fire ripped through three buildings with one of them collapsing. two fire fighters hurt are believed to have non-life threatening injuries. no word on the extent of the other injuries. well, it takes a lot to stop traffic in new york city but for hours yesterday a 19 year-old man held the big apple in the palm of his hand. well, he had suction cups in his hand because he was scaling the front of the trump tower here as you can see. authorities have not yet released vat man's name as he is under going a psychiatric evaluation at this hour. this is photo of him taking from inside the tower but before his to help them to identified a burglar targeting day care centers in the city. this is the surveillance picture of the suspect. officers with the 35th district tell town hall meeting more people about this. the suspect burglarized two day cares in february and then broke into seven centers in just the last week. they say he strikes after hours when the day cares are closed. >> gaining entry through for one more suspect, investigators say car theft ring took the vehicle identification numbers from wrecked cars and then swapped out those vines on rental cars which were reported stolen. officers say they then sold those cars for a big profit, swindling unsuspecting victims out of thousands of dollars. >> she had to give that car back and then walk around with her new born on buses, because all of her money was spent on a brand new car that was really a stolen replated car. >> more than 40 cars were stolen and sold. as for those 32 arrested some have already enter guilty plea toss avoid jail time but mastermind behind this could face 50 to 100 years in prison. investigators are still looking for kareem upshur, they say he fraudulently registered 17 cars with fake insurance policies. pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane is back in the the montgomery county courtroom today and former boyfriend turned top deputy returns to the witness stan. kane is accused of leaking secret grand jury testimony and then lying bit. adrian king faces cross-examination today. king says he helped deliver a manilla envelope to the philadelphia political consultant, prosecutors say the
