And then it feels much colder than that. Lets take a look, see what we have going on at this point we going to be looking at conditions that are not all that bad. As we take a look at this is thousand looked yesterday in reading well, now it is just dark, and like that, in reading. Soap, big changes are coming. Not just in day and night but also in the additional snow that may be coming through the Lehigh Valley specially and points north of that. Weve got 15 degrees in philadelphia right now, 15 in wilmington, 13 cold degrees in trenton, just really just terribly cold out there this morning. The windchill it makes it feel as it is it is minus two in philadelphia, trenton and wilmington. Millville, minus 17 in the poconos. Now, expect to find temperatures really cold all day. Theyll get no higher than the low to mid 20s, with the windchills theyll be down five to 12 degrees. Were going to be dry here today. We do watch some wet weather starting to come in here. And youll be find that as we go through monday morning, but look at that, could there be some rain associated with this . And we have some breaking news this morning this is new video just in from south philadelphia where a sfx train has jumped the tracks, happened at 11 and paterson near the wachovia center. Nearly dozen cars are off the rales and leaning, though none have fallen. It is not clear what the train was hauling, but hazmat crews are checking out that scene were told, no one was injured, but please, stay with us for more details all morning long. Also, new this morning fire fight remembers called back out to a scene on the 100 block of west seymour street in germantown. It began around midnight with a fire and a row home. That blaze was brought under control, but rekindle overnight. Firefighters have since gained the upper hand. No one was hurt, but part of the home is now in danger of collapsing. Well, the Car Sharing Service lyft hits the streets in philadelphia, similar to ukee, Smart Phone App allows you to find vehicles nearby and pay for aeried while passengers seem happy for another ride option, Todd Quinones tells us the Parking Authority is none too pleased. Some of those people arrived using uber x another app based car service, and i asked what they thought of lyft coming to town . Might lead to better prices for rides around town. Im okay with it. The more services are available to people, the more Competitive Price pricing is. Report than was our Todd Quinones reporting. Now, investigators are taking a close look at a Homeland Security official after a violent altercation with a man in wilmington, delaware. That agent opened fire friday morning on a man he said, was trying to steel his car inside a parking garage at 11th and orange, but police say the actions of the 32 year old man did not merit attempted carjacking charges and that no criminal charges will be filed. There is an Investigation Underway into the federal agents action. Driver loses control crashing through the front wall after cherry hill home. Eyewitness news on the scene at cooper run drive in crescent road, across from Cherry Hill East High School late friday afternoon. Police say the elderly driver of the car may have hit the gas instead of brake pedal. Driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution. His grand child who was in the car was not injured. Four people were inside that home at the time. None in the living room where that car came barreling in. I just came home from school. And i was hanging out and then i heard really loud like crashing noise. So then i went downstairs, and it was like a car in my living room. The family who lives in that home is now staying at a hotel. The 17 year old victim of attack on septa trolley had surgery at Childrens Hospital of philadelphia. This is the victim. Her name is shea. She suffered a broken nose, and a black eye in the attacker on a septa trolley last week. It was all recorded on cell phone video as you see here. Now, that suspect, 40 year old damon oliver, turned himself into police on wednesday. The victims mother says her daughter encouraged by all of the support shes received. A lot of support. This incident has really allowed her the opportunity to see the people who are real any her corner who support her, who love her. Weve gotten outreach of support from everyone around the city and owl side of the city. Oliver, who has criminal record, was suspended from his job with the Philadelphia Department of parks and recreation with the intent to dismiss. Delawares department of health says a woman in her late 20s has measles. Shes from new castle county. This is delawares first measles case since 2012. Now, Officials Say the case was contracted internationally, and is not linked to a recent outbreak in the united state. People have had close contact with that woman, will be monitored for signs of symptoms. On the cbs3 health watch this morning the flu season is reaching its pecan the cdc says it has been one of the worse outbreaks in years. Cbs news correspondent begat shaban reports, it is specially difficult for the elderly population. If youre among the unlucky americans who got the flu this season, you can likely blame a particularly nasty strain called h3n2. It has a history of causing a two, three time hyper hospitalization and death rate than normal, making things worse, this strain mutated just after production gannon this years vaccine. The result . A vaccine thats only 23 effective. It is hitting older patient specially hard. The cdc says this season 198 out of everyone hundred thousand people over age 65 have been hospitalized with flurelated illnesses. Thats the highest number since the government began keeping track in 2005. Thats because older people are usually fighting the flu at a disadvantage. People who are 65 years of age and up tends to have other diseases like Heart Disease diabetes kidney disease, and also the immune system as we age doesnt work quite as well. Right now the flu is widespread in all but six states. And although this years vaccine not as Effective Health officials are still urging people to get vaccinated. The flu season can last until may. Well the philadelphia auto show opens its doors to the public in just a couple of hours. The annual tradition is a chance to see hundreds of cars all under one roof. We have some classics, good morning, nicole. You know, i know you were here last year, so you know this is one of the best assignments we as reporters at Channel Three get to do every single year. This is fantastic. We in the classic auto section, right now, we have kevin with the greater auto dealers of greater philadelphia with us. Just tell us, i mean, what this particular portion about when people come through here, they love checking out the classic vehicles right . Again, a sign of something for everybody, certainly classics, there has never been a portfolio of classic vehicles like you have at this years show, whether it it is the plymouth thunder bird or the hornet, just great place. Thats what i mean, there is concept, there is exotics classics. So we have the faceoff there. So wonderful scene that you can see new and old whether it is the cutting edge concept say from buick or you see 1949allard or the chevrolet nova ss. , got ot just great great atmosphere that we have at the show. So much to see. What, is there one car thats really unique that people get a chance to see that maybe they wouldnt be able to see anywhere else . Not just the car. Saturday morning is my favorite time of the show because those kids come in, and they she red ferrari, and i know santa came in december, ya, but santa does come in january, as women, when those eyes are wide open and they see that ferrari, one of my favorite times. Show. So last year we were talking about how much snow there was last year, how cold it was. It is colds this year. But we expect big numbers. You had big numbers for the black tie event. What do you expect as far as people coming and checking out the show. Record setting black tie 5,000 people. About quarter Million People come here nine days, 700,000 square feet, 40 manufacturers under one roof. This is the place to be, the garage mahal. Can people sit in these classics . Are they available to get in . No, some of these class ricks like half million Million Dollars. But again the cool part is that you only see them on the internet or on magazines but at the show you can see them live and in person, just something really special. It is, really is. Well talk about the concepts, from the past back on into the future, then we should have other things planned as we go along this morning, but kevin great to talk to you. Well just kind of spin you around this auto show this morning, first look at some of the coolest stuff that you get to see all year, nicole, i know you know about it, but this is just a fantastic fantastic morning. Yes, could you hear the winds last night and knew how low those temperatures, were and it was just a really uncomfortable night. It continues to be a very uncomfortable morning, too. But it is bright beautiful and the moon is gorgeous, so if your window is situated, that you can see the moon, then look out. But if you dont have to go out, dont do it. Center city philadelphia, looks really really nice, at least first part this morning. The sun will be out too. So it is a bright day today with no clouds over us, one of the reasons that these temperatures bottomed out as they have. We will be finding bright, Beautiful Day all day long, tonight clouds move in little later on, then watch the next storm system start to come into this area. Well detail all of that. Thirteen in trenton right now 15 degrees in philadelphia, wilmington, 15 millville, 18 in wildwood, 15 degrees in atlantic city. These numbers are just chilling, even just to look at them, to be out in them, oh, just terrible. High pressure moves away right now, and then we will be waiting a day that after being calm today and it is calm for the first part of the day on sunday. We watch another storm system start to come in here. And it bridges variety of precipitation types. Anything from rain, to snow, and sleet, and ice. So depending on where you are i think it will be different. There are storm watches in effect in fact in some cases in our area. But they stretch all the way from the midwest. Look at des moines, and then you move overthrew the philadelphia area, and you find that they are well to the north and west of us. But it is through the Lehigh Valley and the poconos that that winter storm watch goes into effect and that is going to be as we go through sunday evening, until monday afternoon. Heres generally what we expect now. As i say every Weekend Storms evolve even when youre in them, but this is what it looks like right now that we, on sunday, on into monday, would be getting mainly snow. This is from the Lehigh Valley, points north some snow and rain, little sleet possibly mixed in through philadelphia mostly rain to the south. So much of new jersey and delaware would be in that. Now, amounts, coating to an inch maybe through south jersey, one to three through the philadelphia suburbs north, and to our south and east. And then three6 inches going into the upper bucks area. Get newspaper allentown and the poconos and you can be dealing with 6 inches plus of snow. So the higher amounts the higher up you go. Snowfall totals, we all love this. This is how it looks through 1 00 oclock in the morning on monday. And it says not much. Not even a inch of snow. None of the models think that that will be happening. But they start to make a little bit after departure by 2 00 on monday, the gfs says that we have just about an inch of snow. The euro says 5 inches. And the other two which ended up being the right ones for that last storm system, they put it at about 3 inches of snow and on sunday, but theyre saying not even a inch of snow through philadelphia. But again the euro says 5 inches, the gfs says one. I think generally you could say one to 3 inches through the philadelphia area. And some ice amount, as well, and thats as go through allentown, and quakertown, and maybe even in doylestown, and possibly out in reading, as well out of this system. So we will time this thing out as fast as we k i know were running out of time here. But i am show this. 3 00 we start to see it maybe tomorrow afternoon to the north, then as we go through time, look at this, it is rain through the southern areas on sunday evening little mix through philadelphia snow to the north and we watch that line move. But we get little wrap around snow also, coming up after that. So, let us see what we are dealing with. And that is that weve got some cold, cold, cold weather. We will be finding that tapping into our area, and it picks up moisture from the gulf, and it also picks it up from the atlantic, as it moves across into our area. But, right now were just dealing with conditions that are not bad at all. Weve got clear skies sky wise lets under score that, weve got clear skies out there, but boy is it cold. At 15 degrees, so, if youre out early youve got to put on every layer youve got bring the pets inside for petes sake. It is way too cold out there. Look at this. You factor in the winds and it feels like minus two right now, minus numbers that is how the windchill is at this point, all over the area. Nicole . Carol, thanks. Well, an email creates controversy on the main line. Bryn mawr college is facing a fire storm on social media after an it sent an email to overweight student ties ago fitness program. Eyewitness News Reporter diana rocco tells us some student call the email unethical. Targeted for their weight, student at Bryn Mawr College were asked to enroll in a Weight Loss Program based on their body mass index. The Health Center used its records to identify students with higher bmis and in a email, told them, they qualified for special health and wellness program. They could enroll for physical education credits. It includes counselling nutrition advice, group support, and personalized fitness plan. Junior gisele. They didnt see themselves overweight so that it was targeting them and telling them they are kinds of put theirself esteem down. Neighboring Swarthmore College highlighted the email titled give a hoot, and in their school paper the phoenix. Student took to facebook expressing their concerns, and outrage. Since social media is so big for us, there is a big social media presence. So i guess you could say that it spread quickly. Definitely spread quickly. Health Center Director issued an apology saying in part, what they will program has been offered successfully in the past there is semester several student event taken issue with some of the communication that were used to invite students to take advantage of this opportunity. On behalf of everyone involved in this program i sincerely apologize to anyone upset or offended by our communication and i opportunity reassure the community that we will rethink our approaches and our assumptions moving forward. I think it will be handled quick. I while the college has apologized, they say this program is now in its thirds year, and some students have decided to take advantage of it. Bryn mawr college campus, diana rocco cbs3 Eyewitness News. And there was a similar controversy at Lincoln University in chester county. Back in 2006 that university required student went bmi of 30 or more to complete a physical fitness class in order to graduate. That requirement was dropped in 2009. The University Said the intention was to spread the message that people in that school need more physical activity. Pennsylvania state treasurer rob mccord is admitting he commit add crime. Threatening campaign donors, if they didnt crib to his failed campaign for governor last year. He apologized in a videotaped statement, released by his lawyer. I stepped over the line by trying to take advantage of the fact that two potential contributors hope to continue to do business with the commonwealth. And by developing talking points to remind them that i could make things difficult for them, i essentially said that the potential contributors should not risk making an enemy of the state treasurer. Clearly, that was wrong. I was wrong. Now mccords attorneys say he will plead guilty to certain federal charges. Meanwhile, mccords resignation is now official. Governor wolf said in a statement that this type of behavior leads to the errosion of the Publics Trust, it is simply unacceptable. I stand firm in my commitment to restore the Publics Trust in their government. Therefore, i will act as quickly as possible to present a nominee to the senate of the highest caliber and capability. Well the House Democratic caucus wrapped up its conference in philadelphia, with a pep talk from Vice President joe biden. The Vice President spoke to fellow democrats it the Sheridan Society hill. Now it, comes a day after president obama spoke to that group. The theme of this years issues conference was grow americas economy grow american paychecks. The middle class does well. You all know it. The wealthy do very well. This is not about antiaccumulation of wealth. And the poor have a way up. Thats the way we built this economy from middle out not from the top down. Vice President Biden urged democrats to be open to compromise with the republican majority to get things done. Well, former massachusetts governor, mitt romney, new jersey governor, Chris Christie will dine together in new york city tonight. That meeting is sparking speculation about the possibility of mitt romney endorse g another republican candidate for president. It comes one day after romney announced he will not run for president in 2016. Cbs news correspondent michael bert reports. Reporter mitt romney phoned supporters and staff to say he wont make a third run for the white house. After putting considerable thought into making another run for president ive decided it best to give other leaders in the party the opportunity to become our next nominee. The gop pick in 2012 said he was convinced he could win the republican nomination again, but that it would have been a hard fight. His core weakness, people didnt think he knew hoe he who he was. When you run a third time it totally under scores that central weakness by suggesting it has taken you three times to figure out who you are. Jeb bush may have the most to gain from romneys stepping aside. The former Florida Governor tweeted though im sure todays decision was not easy, i know that mitt romney will never stop advocating for renewing americas promise. Secretary every state, john kerry is back home in boston, and dismissing questions about a 50dollar fine he received on thursday. The city of boston fined kerry for not clearing off his beacon hill sidewalk quick enough. Kerry was in saudi arabia when the city was hit with a blizzard earlier this week. Last night he holes add dinner with dignitaries from mexico and canada. He declined to discuss the situation, but a spokesperson for kerry said he will gladly pay his ticket. He wasnt busy or anything. Geez. Well, hey, it is the time of year when many of us have taxes on our mind, not only income taxes but Real Estate Taxes, as well. Philadelphia sent out its property tax bills weeks ago. We want them to do that, the anxiety of being attacks del inch went. So philadelphia Revenue Commission is trying to get the word out about tax assistance programs that can help. 18,000 philadelphia seniors have already signed up for the Senior Citizens Real Estate Tax program. Based on age and income freezes the taxes at the current years rate. And it will not increase as long as the Senior Citizens stay in their home. The Tax Installment Program allows seniors regardless of income to pay annual taxes in monthly installments. The tax defer program is incomebased and allows all residents regardless of age who own and occupy their home, and whose he will estate taxes have increased significantly to postpone payment of the increased amount that is above 15 . Payment on the excess amounts can be deferred until transfer or sale of the property. While the owneroccupied real estate payment agreement Program Allows homeowners who occupy their homes to make Monthly Payments on backtaxes, payments are based on how hold income and family size. The city encouraging people to apply, otherwise . Her to losing out, they are leaving money on the table, and quite frankly, they are adding a stress level to their life thats not necessary. We want to show you some things that maybe you wouldnt be able to get a chance to see anywhere else in the show. So behind me, you know, you see the standard cars, cars available right now some of the modern stuff from bmw but check this out. This is a bmwi8, 140 grand. How many horses, like 240 . Depend on which engines you are talking about about 230 on the turbo i54 cyllinder about 130 on the electric motor. So i mean that is the ultimate hybrid right there. This is kevin by the way might and car guy might not. With the Philadelphia Association greater automobile dealers. So, tell me a little bit more about this thing. Because ive never seen anything like this. Yes, it is a great great example of the electricification automobile but a gasoline engine. Of both worlds, performance of this car is un approachable, gorgeous, great to look at, and it speaks for itself when you see car like. Gorgeous is the right words. Were you telling me about the batteries, the engine, also, is kind of hybrid between the battery and the engine and it works in tandem . Regenerative battery. So the breaking also charges the battery as well. So it is a great example of what bmw has come out and said, look what we can do, as far as an electric vehicle that has High Performance meets our standards, and is ultimate driving machine. Another one we were look at is a buick being on the other side over there but just so many concept cars that people never get a chance to see . The bottom line about two and a half billion dollars of sales are influenced by this show. And so here is a example of people coming to the show, trying to find what they would like maybe they like x but then they see y they never even thought of before. Thats where really the rubber meets the road for this automobile show. What about the concept cars . I mean, youre not going to get a dealer selling this thing, right . Well the bmw can but on the buick he, what this do on the concept, they have styling cues see what the reaction of the public; then maybe see that two, three years down the road. Weve got a nice morning but unbelievably cold out there. You heard the winds. We have temperatures in the teens. They feel like theyre in the minus numbers this morning. It is that cold. But, it is that bright and beautiful. Storm scan3 showing no problems in our area today. And tomorrow, later on in the day, we start to see some wet weather moving in here. And it comes through in a variety of forms depending on where you are. The farther north tomorrow the more likely you are to see seen a winter storm. But as you move toward philadelphia, those chances start to diminishment well get weather but wont be getting the amount they could be getting through the Lehigh Valley and points north of that. 15 degrees right now in philadelphia. We have 11 in allentown, nine in reading, 15 in millville. It is a cold morning, you factor in these winds that are around 30 miles an hour, and we have windchills of minus two, through philadelphia. And there are other things out, there as well. Like winter alerts, and they start over in the midwest. Weve got des moines, with lots of snow expected, and then go all the way toward our area, and you can see the winter storm warnings, shaded in blue and thats the Lehigh Valley and point to the north of that from sunday evening right until monday afternoon. So, we could be dealing with inches of snow there. But probably much less than that as you move to the south. Future weather just take a look at this, ill stop this a million times. Today, no reason real toy stop t but then tomorrow, this is a look as we get to 3 00 in the afternoon, chance of some snow up through the allentown area it gets close to philadelphia, might not be here at that point. By the time we hit 7 00 notice the warmer air that gets drawn into this system areas to the south start to pick up some rain, we still see the snow, through allentown and reading, through the philadelphia area, weve change today mix maybe even by sunday night. So, just be careful of slick spots, every place. Because there could still be some freezing rain mixed in a few spots south as well. But, looks like at this point according to this model that we get rain to the south. The mix through philadelphia, snow, continuing through the north. Thats why the totals pick up there. We see this changeover line, slowly moving to the north it takes a long time. Does it ever even make end it to allentown . Thats why snow totals will be higher. Through philadelphia this computer model says we ends up with some rain, and then on the back side of this, as we often seep, we pick up little bit of snow even through philadelphia. So lets see what weve got. Mainly snow, the precipitation expects from that sunday night through monday after noon to the north, snow and rain through philadelphia, mainly rain to the south of philadelphia, coating to an inch possibly, through south jersey and delaware, one to three through philadelphia, three to 6 inches through our northern and western suburbs you get to allentown could it be 6 inches . Could it be 10 inches of snow . I think thats the range and in the poconos where it is very slow, if it even ever does change over, do you have a chance every getting ten to maybe a foot of snow. Our computer models, lets compare them all. All named on the bottom. The one that says a lot of snow for philly, there is only one every them, the euro, says 5 inches. But everybody else wants to put not much around our area at all. But, lets also remember, the chance every getting some icing mixed in there as well. If you see some sleet or some freezing rain and thats specially true to the north. You cant totally rule it out in philadelphia either. So 25 today sunny very, very cold with these winds gust to go about 35 miles an hour, feeling like the sickle single numbers all day long. The pets better be in tonight and they better be in now too. It is cold and mitt err recall out there. Tonight 20s, partly cloudy skies later on, looks like generally much the day sun stay a quiet day. Later on in the afternoon we start to pick up the wet weather. Again it starts as maybe little bit of snow. But we should be transitioning over to sleet and rain through philadelphia, one to three again, preliminary amounts through philadelphia, much more though, Lehigh Valley, to the north and even less than one to three to the south of philadelphia. That should be ending by monday afternoon and then look at those temperatures, after monday gets to 35, monday night is 5 degrees tuesdays high only 20, and then maybe a little moderating trends wednesday at 39 degrees, but another chance maybe of a snow shower by the time we get to thursday, nicole.
