We could just open the windows, enjoy the beautiful beautiful weather overnight temperatures 56 degrees through center city philadelphia. Cooler in some of the other locations, but a great day yesterday. And i think we will be able to do it again today. Slightly more summer like feel today. Lets take a look, see what we have. You can see on storm scan3 nothing going on in our area, notice way down in maryland, and maybe just brushing the extreme southern tip of delaware, we are looking at couple of showers there otherwise, i think everybodys going to be remaining dry today, with maybe that one exception, even little later on today. Look at some of the temperatures though, we have 47 degrees up in the poconos 51 in allentown, 54 degrees in reading, 56 degrees in trenton, 64 out at the airport in philadelphia, and temperatures are in the 50s, as well as go into south jersey. So this is a very comfortable and falllike feel. We get back into the summer, though, by the time we hit noon at 78 degrees. By 3 00 p. M. 84, eight a degrees there is should be a lovely afternoon the dew points are way down, so the air mass feels great. Dew points are in the 50s, and they are even in the fours to the north of that. So this is dry air mass, as we go through time in future weather looks like everything looks great. New this Morning Police are investigating an Early Morning murder in southwest philadelphia. It happened shortly after midnight at 55th and lansdowne, detectives are busy working on the case as we speak. But we do know that the victim was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead. So far no word on a suspect. Also, a septa Police Officer was returned to jefferson following this crash in old city. Eyewitness news at fifth and market streets just after 3 00. Police say the Police Cruiser and a white suv collided sending both vehicles on to the sidewalk. The crash is under investigation right now and that septa Police Officer is at jefferson in stable condition. Well, happening today family and friends will gather to remember the Young Children killed in a house fire last month. The victims will be laid to rest later this morning. Reporter we are hearing that, liz, its been more than a month since the fatal fire on gesner street, the one that tore through a series of row homes, almost destroying an entire city block killing four children. Well today those children finally are being laid to rest, as we are getting new information from the fire commissioner, a final report, and, unfortunately as you mention, the results are not very satisfying. But i want to take you to video, lags night, service for those children killed in the fire the four year old twins moriah and marie ella, and brothers four year old patrick, and seven week old tag, all be remembered this morning at divine mercy church. The and the service for the liberian american children, that community ones again came together. On the same day word again from the fire commissioner, the cause labeled undetermined. The damage from the source of the fire, just far too extensive. You will remember, it was six weeks ago that fire raging out of control the 13 row homes damaged, it started on the front porch of one of the row homes, protest spark over the departments response to the fire despite all that, we asked the family about the investigation, about the report, that finally has come out, how un satisfying it seemingly is, but they said thats not what the focus is. We some blessings upon us. Through the grace of god and, you know, the community that so many people who have been helping us throughout as we go through the grieving process. Also, being remembered, the life of a promising young woman, friends of laura held Memorial Walk from the art institute, where she graduated from last year, to the art museum. She was found dead in a duffle bag last month in north philadelphia. That bag was dumped outside a vacant home in kensington, and students and staff still cannot believe she is gone. There are tragedies that happen at schools all the time, and this is something that wasnt oh, this is somewhere else, this is here, this was one of our students. Twentytwo year old Jeremiah Jackson is charged withuros murder, Police Believe he targeted her because jackson thought she had monday. I revel hotel and casino will close for good labor day weekends. Officials made that announcement late friday, the hotel will close first on monday september 1st at 11 00 in the morning. The casino will then close the next day at 5 00 a. M. All events scheduled past september 2nd will be canceled. And also, philadelphia schools will open on time but at a cost. While there wont be any teacher layoffs for now there will be cuts to transportation, school security, and sanitation services. The cash poor district is cutting because service for High School Students who live within 2 miles of their schools. And that will impact about 7500 teams. On top of, that the district will not fill any of its open positions. I want to reiterate we are hopeful that these are temporary reductions, that could be restored if in fact funding is realized. No money for books or supplies, no money for arts and classes and principal counselor, nurse, you know, we cannot have schools that are sustainable like that. The district faces a 81 million budget deficit and if revenue from a cigarette tax is not in place by midoctober, the superintendent says more than 1,000 employees could face layoffs. The first day of school is monday september 8th. Well, onto some happier news mone davis is quickly becoming a household name. With our defense and mo pitching like that, as long as we can sequence the pitching, to keep it in the yard, were in good shape. Thousands on hand to watch the game. Little League Officials dont keep official totals, but theyre seeing little doubt the largest crowd so far. I havent seen boys pitch like that so far. So yes so, so amazing im so excited for her. I guess it might sounds a silly question, but are you used to how good she is yet or does she still blow you away . Im used to it, this game blew me away, im not sure she had this many strikeouts, but this game blew me away. The taney dragons are set to play again this weekend will play sunday night at 7 00. The Fatal Police Shooting of an unarmed black teenager in ferguson missouri. Police revealed the officers name friday, and they also released Surveillance Video, they say shows the teen committing a robbery. Cbss omar via franco has the reaction. Reporter police say this Surveillance Video shows Michael Brown stealing 49dollar box of cigars from a Convenience Store minutes before ferguson Police Officer shot and killed him. Evidence of the stolen emergency was found on browns body. Ferguson police, also released the the officer name friday, 28 year old darren wilson, six year veteran, no prior complaints against him. Chief says wilson didnt know brown was a suspect when he stopped him. His initial contact was not related to the robbery. It was related to. Protesters on the street were angered to learn about the video. Police say they released the footage to satisfy freedom of information requests from the media. But browns family says it is an attempt to divert attention from the shooting. The family feels that that was a strategic they think it was aimed at den grating their son. Strong emotions threaten to disrupt the peace in the security, since security was handed over to Missouri State troopers. And a perfect day in september. Instead, it is august, and now were into the middle of august. It will feel just tad bit more summer like today with these temperatures getting into the middle 80sment looks beautiful through center city this morning. I know you probably had very comfortable night in sleeping. Temperature wise, open the windows, get some of the air in your house perfect. You will love it there later on today when the temperatures do get into then the afternoon, some of these temperatures that are in the 60s, in the 50s, even the 40s this morning feel terrific. We move to the shore areas looks absolutely gorgeous there, as well. It will be perfect beach day. We have a temperature of 55 degrees, thats out in reading. It is very dark in reading right now with basically no winds at all going on. So nice start to the day in all locations but boy it is cool. 46 degrees in the poconos, 51 in allentown, 54 degrees in reading, 64 through philadelphia and 60 in wilmington. Were running several degrees cooler than normal, and a lot cooler than that as you head to the north. So these temperatures will be nice theyll stay nice throughout the entire weekends. Way to the south down through the delmar have, looking at couple of showers but otherwise, that is the extent of t i think everybody stays dry, we go through the day and a loft us will be staying dry tomorrow, as well. There are some showers however, in the forecast. High pressure is here. It is not particularly strong. But it is Strong Enough to keep it nice around here, with the temperatures in the 80s today. Then we will be watching for this front to come through. There will be some showers around especially, early in the day. And probably more to the north and the west than you will see through philadelphia. Later in the day as this front starts to sag to the south, some of the areas to the south might be finding a shower. But i think generally tomorrow is going to be a pretty nice day as well. Future weather showing just that little blip that we saw of those showers that are out there. And then by the time we get to tomorrow, this is 6 00 tomorrow morning, notice they look lick theyre pretty light. By 9 00 theyre still fairly light. By 10 00 a. M. , a lot of areas just seeing some clouds, and then a shower just racing on through, maybe some of the southern areas possibly. So not a wash out at all tomorrow the way things are looking, just maybe not as perfect and as guaranteed almost perfect as we have today with these 85 agree temperatures, 78 at the shore poconos, 78 degrees. It is lovely. And any destination you choose, just perfect. If you are going to taches, low risk of rip currents, your ocean though, pretty mild. 73 degrees, in the atlantic right now, eight a the temperature for us today. We have winds out of the southwest between five to 10 miles an hour. Tonight dropping down to 65 degrees partly cloudy skies, comfortable night ahead. Well, back in news, parkinsons disease and depression, those are two factors that may have contributed to this weeks suicide of Robin Williamsment thanks to research being done right here in philadelphia, we are getting a better under standing of how theyre leng dollars and heres Eyewitness NewsHealth ReporterStephanie Stahl. Reporter ron robbins needs help with just about everything, tremors and stiffness from parkinsons disease makes simply standing or walking an ordeal. The 73 year old has a cane equipped with a lazer light to help him focus movements. He was diagnosed five years ago. It is real a devastating disease. There are many days when i dont want to get out of bed. I dont want to move. He says the depression can be overwhelming. And he under stands why Robin Williams took his own life. Rob says antidepressants help him cope. This one is a depression medicine. This one has to do with the disease itself. The fact that almost 50 to 60 of people have parkinsons disease have depression is largely related to the chemical changes from the underlying disease. A parkinsons doctor at penn medicine says people with the degenerative disease are depressed because they face a grim future. But there are also neuro chemical changes in the brain. Depression can be Early Warning sign of parkinsons. The new research from penn found in addition to depression newly diagnosed patients also suffer with anxiety and fatigue and it says there can be surprising side effects with a common parkinsons medication. That lead to compulsive behavior like gambling, over spending, hyper sexuality. Every day it is something new, pain, all of these things just overwhelming. Ron has deep brain simulator that he says is very helpful. He and his family are homing all of this new attention on parkinsons will help raise awareness and money for reserve that much could lead to better treatments maybe even some day a cure. The pontiff spent part of his saturday morning at the house of hope center for the disabled, francis was greeted by children there following this visit the holy father held mass outside for hundreds of thousands of worshippers and during the service francis beatified 124 korean martyrs, and stopped to bless families who lost loved ones in aprils deadly ferry sinking. Here at home, preparations are underway for an expected visit from the pope. During the world meeting of families, next year, now Church Officials selected Chester County artist kneel car land to create the icon of the holy family. It will be used to promote the event. Now, carland is painting the icon in oil on canvas, and the finished piece will be unveiled in early september. It is very humbling and exciting to be asked to do this for the global catholic community. The image represents certainly the holy family, mary, joseph, and jesus annex tended family, mayer is mother and father.
