a few patrons in this restaurant at the time but all were evacuated by the fire department. we do know that when the fire fighters arrived on the scene, police told them that the sprinkler system had gone off at first and put fire out ones but flared backup again and second time it got up in the eaves and ventilation system and ran the entire ceiling. fire chief tells us that the deep friar must have been hot and may not have been cleaned at some point to spark that fire and it can flare up when that happens. now, it went up to the ventilation system and that is when the roof set on fire. here's what the chief said they had to do after that. >> we had a major roof problem and we have had collapse so we evacuated everybody out and did extra fire fighting. >> reporter: they had to go all around the building and drawn out the fire with water. it was put under control in 30 minutes. one fire fighter did twist his knee on the hose and transported to tower hospital but was released already. he is fine. other than that there were no injuries. the chief was saying that he has been here since 1980, this restaurant is a local tradition here, it has been opened since 1961, chief remembers coming here as a kid for spaghetti dinners on tuesday. so very unfortunate for the town, this is a local stapel but he is hoping that the family who owns this does rebuild. we will have have more coming up at 5:30. that is latest, jen bernstein for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". also new "eyewitness news" live at philadelphia's west oak lane neighborhood where police are investigating an armed robbery at this 7-eleven. it happened at 3:30 at the store on stenton and ogontz avenue. thieves got away with cash, and right now detectives are looking at surveillance video hoping that will provide them with more clues. also new this morning a suspect is in custody after a stabbing in the emergency room at crozer-chester medical center. it is still not clear what prompted this attack and there has been no word on the victim's conditions. police will have more details when their investigation is finally completed. right now 5:03. time to get traffic and weather together. >> good morning, everyone. it is thursday and it is really a broken record kind of a week. a lot of cloud cover and moisture and shower and thunderstorm activity. yesterday we had showers and storms in the morning and clouds mainly in the afternoon but you today we have another round of those locally heavy afternoon storms to wait for. lets take a look outside, center city philadelphia shrouded in fog on sky cam three. can't see top of the sky scrapers there low clouds there. be safe outside on the roads this morning. there are pockets of dense fog. let's look at storm scan three, you can see everything drifting from south to north and that is pattern today as these storms form, they will move from south to north which means they will move over the same area continuously for a couple hours bringing risk for flooding. that is why a flash flood watch is issued. this is berks, lancaster, chester, lower becks, philadelphia, camden gloucester northern and burlington counties in new jersey and also new castle county in delaware. what does this mean in the flash flood watch?
