Torrey, thank youment breaking news this morning deadly gunfire erupts in philadelphias nicetown section, several people were shot. Two people are dead. Right now the Police Departments crime scene unit is on the scene investigating. Want to get right out to Eyewitness News reporter jan carabeo, what have you learned . Reporter erika ukee, told what started out as attempted robbery in the nicetown section of philadelphia, quickly escalated turned into gun fight shootout, four people were shot, as you mention, we have now confirmed that two of those people are dead. The crime scene unit is on scene, so are detectives. And so are a whole lot of those yellow evidence markers this is quite a big scene, a lot of shots were fired we just saw number 53, get put down, in the middle of the road there. So the crime scene unit surely has it work cut out for itself this morning. Scene is at runner and clarissa street in the nicetown section of philadelphia. Just before 2 30 this morning a man police say, a wouldbe robber approached a group of three people here. Police say that man was wearing a ski mask, and armed with a handgun. But before he could rob anyone, police say someone in that group pulled out their own gun, assault rifle. Shootout, all four people here hit by gunfire. Police say the initial robbery suspect was pronounced dead on the scene. Another man was taken to the hospital and later died, as well. A third man and woman who were here, and who were injured, were also taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds but police say they are in stable condition, this morning. Somebody may have had an assault rifle. The do err had a weapon, as women, they exchange the gunfire, the do erray peers to have taken numerous shots to the body. He succombed to his injuries.
