philly.com. in other news presumptive republican date donald trump postponed's today's news conference to announce his pick for vice-president, because of the attack in france but today he formally announced it on twitter. an hour ago trump tweeted i'm please todd announce i have chosen governor mike pence as my vice-presidential running mate. news conference is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. trump planned to hold that news conference today but it was postponed after the attack in france. news of the trump's selection broke yesterday but as late as last night, trump was still saying he might change his mind. some experts say that pence will help trump unify the party but critics believe his hard line positions on lb gt rights and plan parenthood could alienate moderate voters. it has raised new concerns about security at the republican national convention, in cleveland. home land security secretary, jay johnson, has said he will personally comb through the security around the convention site. johnson -- >> i am concerned about the possibility, of violence, and, we have within dhs, some 3,000 personnel that will be dedicated to the security of the republican national convention, and the democratic national convention, each. >> reporter: johnson will also personally inspect security at democratic national convention here in philadelphia. now, "eyewitness news" anchor jessica dean will be traveling to cleveland to cover the republican national convention, look for her reports next week, right here on "eyewitness news". on the democratic side, is there still speculation about hillary clinton's running mate. she's reportedly narrowed her choice to five people including senator new jersey senator corry booker. clinton campaign with virginia senator tim kane yesterday and he is also on the democratic short list for vp. other possibility are massachusetts senator elizabeth warren, ohio senator brown and former agricultural secretary tomvillesack. we are just ten days away from the start of the democratic national convention right here in philadelphia. well, the oppressive heat is hanging on today but relief may be on the way. meteorologist katie fehlinger is live on the sky deck with her first forecast, katie. >> and, jim and brooke it looks like that heat will in the be, any relief anytime soon. today certainly is going to be a very steamy day, it already here at high noon that excessive heat warning still in effect up and down i-95, and blaring sunshine right now. let get you out there and show you what is happening with the maps first out power to thousands of homes, including governor chris christie. he and his family surveyed damage outside his home in morris county. reporting from the scene, he asked if he had power he gave them a shake of the head and thumbs down. 11,000 houses in new jersey lost power during yesterday's storm. >> worker at a montgomery county warehouse has died in the freak accident, it happened, at the company on white cap road in limerick. work's arrived at 8:00 to find their collogue, crushed by industrial pipes that had fallen off a flatbed truck. it is not clear what caused those pipes to fall or if anyone witnessed the accident. workers name has not yet been released. there are detourness manayunk this noon. fire department responded to the scene of an early morning water main break. damage from the ruptured blaine should down 4300 block of main street around levering street. water has been shut off. crews are working to repair the main and getting services restored to two dozen this morning their vehicle went up and over a sidewalk and hit a building. chopper three was over scene in west philadelphia where we're told no one was hurt but 14 kid were taken to children's hospital for evaluation. it happened at 52nd and hazel street shortly after 9:00 a.m. no word what caused the van to go out of control. camden county authorities say a man, fell through the roof of the high school, and chopper three over sterling high school on south warwick road in somerdale. it happened shortly after 7:00 s no the clear what the man was doing on the roof of the school and in galveston, texas and some of them are pretty good. this weekend they will be part of the surf dog, competition, where they are raising money for animal shelter and many of the dogs are available for adoption. would do a better job then i would, on that surf board. >> yes, yes. >> surfing around, today too. the beach, and the pool, it is pretty much best place to be. the best place to cool off. we don't have any wet weather to worry about so we will have nothing but sunshine here. it is still hot. we want you to take care out in this kind of heat. no strenuous activity now at high noon, before you start to mow the lawn and go for these long jogs, just not the best idea dealing with this heat and humidity. with that said it is a beautiful looking day, although air quality is far from ideal. that is another issue we have to discuss. lets go out to the maps here and garden state, long island we have a air quality a leather posted today, it is specific to folks that fall in the unhealthy or rather the sensitive category that is unhealthy. so children, elderly, if you have respiratory illness it is not the best day when it comes to the air pollution levels. the let talk dew throughout the rest of the day it could feel as hot as over a hundred degrees, so please take it easy out there we will take you out once more to a couple area temperatures, these are actual air temperatures. ninety in atlantic city. we have a simple breeze in philadelphia but right out of the southwest. so that warmth, humidity getting shoved in the delaware valley even as we speak. storm sunday, generally speaking it looks like good weather for the weekend as a whole. back in philadelphia we top off to above or flirting with the 90-degree mark all weekend long and generally i expect dry weather, there could be a then are storm along the way but key here as well is that we're finally going to see worst of the humidity at least ease up, on us. while this is far from the cool down
