united states. health officials couldn't philadelphia international airporting pennsylvania woman contracted a super bug resistant to common antibiotics. how doctors were able to treat her. and new jersey lawmakers vote to ban smoking on public beaches and in parks. why governor christie is not convinced he wants it to be law. but first, hello summer temperature. the heat and humidity arrived even with the sun out people looking for ways to cool off. >> i'm jessica dean. >> i'm ukee washington. the heat was on today and it's about to get hotter. kate it's like somebody flip the switch. >> it feel like we've been feeling cool temperatures through the month of may. suspecting it was going to feel like jumping right into summer as soon as we got the clouds to break and we move out that cool pattern. that's what happened. we dove head first 92 summer yesterday. today was even warmer. temperatures 75 in dover. 74 in cherry hill right now. in philadelphia we're sitting at 76 degrees. take look at allentown. 80 degrees right now at 11:00 o'clock at night in late may. very very warm conditions again it's been rising all week long our average high 77. 89 today and tomorrow looks even hotter. 90 degrees the daytime high. i don't usually dust off this graphic until late june or early july. with heat index values in the 90's, this heat can become dangerous to some drink plenty of water take frequent breaks and avoid strenuous activity. full memorial day weekend forecast is coming up in just a few minutes. back over to you ukee. >> kate temperatures are taking a toll on young ones. more than a dozen bucks county children taken to the hospital today when they fell ill from heat exposure on their way from field trip. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt has the story from lower makefield. >> reporter: scarier moments officials at the pennsbury school district released "eyewitness news" encouraging parents to make sure their kids hydrate as much as possible especially now that we're closer to summer. >> exth grade students from william penn middle school were at a trenton thunder baseball game. for end of the year field trip. when students began to feel si sick. "eyewitness news" spoke to mother of one of the sick students and her daughter started feeling ill at the game. she asked us not to use her name. ambulances took some of the students to local hospitals just as a precaution. >> our weather has like changed from late fall to summer overnight. i think possibly the buses weren't prepared. >> reporter: judy risa lower makefield supervisor. >> you really have to be careful to keep them very very well hydrated. you have to make sure they're drinking enough water. >> reporter: reece commended the school district for responding so quickly. >> this was not only lot of heat but a lot of sun. we're not used to it yet. >> reporter: the good news to report all of the students were released and expected to be okay. this was certainly a scary situation that escalated quic quickly. reporting in lower makefield, buck county, david spunt, cbs3 "eyewitness news". a pennsylvania woman becomes the first us citizen to contract a bacteria resistant to quote last resort antibiotics. the woman went to health clinic for urinary tract infection and doctors discovered she had the drug resistant e. coli bacteria in her system. she was successfully treate tred with a different course of antibiotics. the pennsylvania medical society released a statement saying this news is cause for concern but goes on to say "it's remember to it was caught and now is not the time to panic as many health care professionals are working to address this situation". >> new jersey lawmakers are telling people to call it quits. the governor thinks the state should butt out. >> there's a lengthy list of things you can't do on atlantic city beaches and new jersey state lawmakers get their way, smoking will soon be added to the list. >> it have involve all the smokers out there. >> this woman is in atlantic city visiting from new york taking in the ocean air and doesn't feel her cigarette should be a concern. >> you should definitely be able to do it on the beach. everybody is out here to relax you want to have good time. you have the music sometimes you have even a beer or two. you want to be able to enjoy your freedom of having a cigarette outside. come on. >> i don't think they shall because it's open space. like, outside. why not? i don't like it. >> reporter: new jersey assembly democrat valerie huddle helped sponsor the bill. we spoke with her on the phone shortly after the ban was approved. >> second hand smoke is enormous health risk to non smokers but finding cigarette butts on the beach and in the parks is also quiet damaging to the environment and in the forest could be a potential fire hazard. >> reporter: many municipalities and shore towns like seaside heights have a beach smoking ban in place. governor christie voiced his concern with the measure during his monthly radio address. >> the problem i have, why should municipalities be able to to make these decisions. >> mix read action to the smoking ban some welcome the thought of a smoke free cigarette butt free beach experience. >> you don't have to worry about your kids, ashes, cigarettes they throw the beach. it would be nice, fresh air, smoking ban received overwhelming support from both sides of the aisle. now the measure goes to governor chris christie's office just two years ago he vetoed an attempt to ban smoking on beaches and lasted for five hours on hill view drive in springfield. suspect fired a gunshot at police outside the home. no word and why that man was hold up in the house. philadelphia international airport says they continue to take safety seriously after disturbing report on airport security. associated press investigation found hundreds of security breaches at the nation's airports including 30 at philadelphia international airport. the investigation focused on airport perimeters analyzing cases of fence jump pig, car crashing and other trespassing. some of security breaches included crashes along hog island road. that's the road that loops around the airport. two gigantic potholes in northern liberties are getting attention. they say they didn't get any answers from the city. now the permanent repair to the street where there's an infrastructure problem. >> the water department says the underground work is complete and final street repairs will begin next week. pennsylvania's auditor general says the state's child abuse hotline is severely under staffed, under funded and under performing. the child line is pennsylvania's hotline for reporting abuse and neglect but findings reveal calls are going unanswered. last year 42,000 calls were either abandoned or deflected meaning people hung up or their call was dropped. experts say part of the problem is funding was not in
