burning homes so very heroic on their part as they jumped in to try to get people out of back doors and escaping the flames. let's list never to the fire officials we spoke with here on the scene, moments ago explaining what happened in this block. >> now work to go check all the dwellings, to make sure we have everyone out and that at this time we have unknown number of people that are affected. by that i mean some of these homes had multiple occupant in one home. so we're in the process every trying to get total count of the number of occupant we got in each home. >> well, we can again tell you that three people were transport today area hospitals, the extent of their injuries is unknown at this point. as many as 15 homes here along the 2200 block of south 68th street have been ultimately affected now due to power outages or because of their proximity to the three fire homes that have been affected. so, an undisclosed amount of people at this point have been displaced from their homes while fire officials continue to investigate this scene. the fire marshall is here on the scene trying to figure out the origin of this fire. we're live here in southwest philadelphia tonight natasha brown, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". well, also tonight, we do have our eye on the storm. >> a fast moving system is headed our way. it could mean a wintery mix for some in our region tomorrow morning. meteorologist kathy orr is tracking the timing of the storm. kathy right now that teaming is key. >> absolutely, it is temperature sensitive, as women. where we have those temperatures at or below freezing, that's where we'll see the icy mix come tomorrow morning. so time something everything. you can see the center of our storm right here between dallas and abaline, snow to the west, and do have rain to the east. all of this moisture is moving toward the northeast, toward the delaware vale. winter weather advisories posted for ice and also sleet through the poconos for the day and for tomorrow evening. ice accumulation in the poconos expected about a .10 of an inch, and that could create hats area us travel, future weather shows the morning hours just becoming cloudy. then by about 11:00 a.m., you see the snow developing lancaster and reading some sleep as well philadelphia, atlantic city seeing some rain, then all of it moving in changing over to rain during the day. the time line for the start between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., between 11:00 and 7:00 steady rain but all rain even to the north and west by about 2:00 p.m., little later for the poconos scatter showers moving in after that. coming up talk about the temperature swings, they will be incredible over the next couple of days. temperatures sour, arctic blast, even another chance of snow, but we're preparing for this icy mix especially north and west of the city, come tomorrow morning. >> thanks so much. chopper three over penndot headquarters in norristown tonight where trucks were loading up with salt and hitting the roads. penndot wants to make sure it stays ahead of any possible winter weather. >> not going to be snow, but there is a chance that, you know, when the temperatures still hover around the freezing mark, we may get appeared of sleet or freezing rain. so we want if that should occur want to be able to get the salt down to keep the roadways wet. >> penndot says it will have 150 salt trucks out as the storm moves through. well stay one step ahead of the storm by download g cbs philly weather app. you can track live radar, get weather alerts, even sends pictures to our weather team. the cbs philly weather app is available in google play and itunes. >> well, a sudden snowstorm caused major crash in a big mess along a highway in new hampshire today. dozens of cars piled up along interstate 93. now, at one point, a tractor-trailer there caught fire. all drivers could do is stand bias more cars came piling in. >> pretty scary. we saw couple of cars slide by us and then, you know, we could just hear cars hitting each other. >> at a certain point we decided it was best to jump out. could you hear the cars hitting each other one after another after another. >> well, despite all the damage no one was seriously hurt. >> breaking news tonight authorities now have a big clue that could lead to an arrest in deadly hit-and-run that killed a woman just before christmas. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones is live at the accident investigation division in brewerytown with new surveillance video released just short time ago. todd? >> reporter: jessica, police here wish they had better surveillance video of the truck, but still it is a new clue that police are hoping will provide a big break-in this case. heart wrenching loss of theresa posty has burdened her mom with questions that will never be answered. >> my daughter knows she was going to die did she feel pain? >> police are hoping this new surveillance video released friday night will answer at least one question, as to who ran down the 33 year old and left her to die on state road just two days before christmas. eyewitnesses say the driver never even bothered hitting the brakes. >> how you could sleep at nighttime, and put your head on your pillow, i'll never know. >> the surveillance video captures the truck just seconds after posty was killed. >> we're asking for the public's help because of the uniqueness of the type of vehicle. it appears to be very much older model we still can't tell if it is a tow truck but it has got an older body style. >> posty hit at about 5:20, just finished visiting her boyfriend at curran-fromhold prison crossed the street headed for the bus stop. shows northbound state road just about 500 yards north of where the 33 year old was hit. it appears both headlight were still working although police believe the left turn signal did break off after hitting posty. >> there is nothing nothing left of me. not only did they kill my daughter but they killed me, also. >> theresa's mom and police here are hoping someone out there knows who this driver is, and is willing to step forward and contact investigators here immediately. reporting live tonight in police say was trying to catch the school bus when she was hit by suv driven by michael shelly. shelly was arraigned this afternoon. he is expected to appear in court later this month. >> and gloucester county, a grieving community said good-bye today to ten year old boy killed just a few days after christmas. hundreds of mourners gathered at our lady of peace parish in williamstown to remember matthew mccloskey. the fifth grader died sunday night after being hit by a police crews nerve franklinville. that officer is on leave while the incident is investigated. >> well, new at 11:00 woodson face add judge for the first time this afternoon when he was formally charged with rape, and attempted murder. it is believed this attack happened in this parking garage at 17th and callowhill streets. a couple heard the commotion and helped chase woodson down until police arrived. >> a lot, a loft courage to actually put yourself out there. after you chase somebody after you just witness a very horrifying act. >> woodson is now being held without bail. the victim was treated at the hospital. she has since been released. >> right now philadelphia police are searching for an armed robber, they say; getting increasingly desperate. since last summer, this suspect has robbed multiple locations on city avenue, baltimore avenue, and woodland avenue. surveillance video shows the suspect at a rite aid in the 5,000 block of city avenue in march. police say they're looking for 49 year old cartel write write, and that robbery and several other. >> he was desperate. obviously march hit again in august, but the five that occurred from the 18th of december until yesterday seems to be ending. so he clearly is desperate. >> anyone who has seen cartel write is asked to call police. he is considered armed and dangerous. well, an important update tonight about a measles scare. the pennsylvania department of health told us today that a patient that was monitoring does not have the virus. hospital today after he suffered pretty serious injuries while exercising, spokesman said reid was at home in nevada when elastic exercise band broke and hit him in the face. he fell on some equipment nasty car crash. the crash happened back in 1963. but just recently, arthur lambpit walked through metal detector which picked up some kind of object in his arm. well, he went to a doctor to have it check out. when he did he learned it was a seven-inch turn signal from his car. still stuck in his arm after all these years. >> motion unusual, hadn't seen one like that before. went back to look at the old pictures of my wreck, and i noticed that the turn signal was missing. and so we started piecing things together, and discovered that's what it was. >> well, now we know. lambpit said he's been getting requests for pictures of the turn signal from all over the country. >> it is turning colder across the delaware valley with temperatures in the three's and some 20's, to be reported. our eyewitness weather watchers have an eye to the sky, some high clouds move in, a sign of warmer air trying to push toward the delaware valley. let's take a look at some of the colder numbers. right now the temperatures 24 degrees, in doylestown, erwin reporting very light winds, right now it is calm and the pressure falling indicate ago storm is approaching. he is saying it is clear and cold, on this winter night. i couldn't agree more, even colder to the north though, 21 degrees reported right now by chuck he's in perkasie, light winds high whispy clouds there as well. we take it little further to the north and west, where we do anticipate little bit of wintery mix tomorrow morning before we see a change-over to some rain. and burnville lieutenant allen matthews reporting temperature weather advisory in effect for the poconos including jack frost big boulder. careful big guy. don't take that jump too high. temperatures right there in the teens, at this moment. and philadelphia, it is 34 degrees, 29 in trenton, 27 in reading and 27 in lancaster. and this area right here, that we think could be in for little bit of wintery mix tomorrow morning before that warmer air moves in from the south. right now some cold air to the south and west, through the southern part of the country. like texas seeing some cold temperatures dallas, 40, but abaline 42, between the two cities we find our storm system and lean on the cold side, back side that far storm. so all of this moves toward the northeast warmer air trying to push in, but it is riding up and over the cold air. then it has got to make it to the surface. it will take time. inbetween, we will see sleet freezing rain, when the warm air finally makes it to the surface, we will see a change-over to rain everywhere. that will happen by about 2:00 saturday afternoon. sunday, one more what is of some rain showers especially late in the day with this front. and then it turns much colder. but it is all about the temperatures tomorrow morning. saturday at 8:00 a.m. the philadelphia 32, allentown below freezing, the same in reading, lancaster through the poconos even trentonment then when the moisture moves in between 9:00 and 11:00 we warm up the i95 corridor, that's rain, but look at reading and last caster, close to freezing, expect wintery mix, as well as allentown snow in the poconos by 2:00 changing over to rain, lancaster, reading, and allentown, still snow in the poconos, then later in the day toward the evening we see change over to rain in the poconos, and then one blast of showers with the cold front sunday afternoon, but look at the temperature in philadelphia 62 degrees, by then. as far as rain amounts expecting rounds an inch of rain when you look at all of the computer models, coming very close to that temperature. after the storm we will see very warm surge of air moving in and after that, much colder air it turns blustery, next week for sure. over night tonight the low 30, tomorrow rising into the 40's, with that change-over to rain everywhere. in philadelphia, mainly rain. sunday, much warmer, and behind that front much colder monday. once it gets cold, it stays cold. through
