We know for some there is lingering frustration over the pace of post hi sandy rebuilding. Today two years after the storm it boiled over and led governor christie to lose his cool with a heckler. Temperatures are going the take a big dip overnight. Meteorologist kathy orr is outside for us on the cbs3 sky deck shivering a little bit. Kathy. Ill tell you, chris, what a difference. We were out earlier this evening but chair then to now, its much cooler. Many of our weather watchers are saying the same across the Delaware Valley. Take a look at storm scan3 because skies are clearing. We have some patchy fog out there and a few lingering patches of drizzle but the clear line has made it through philadelphia, its heading towards south jersey and with clear skies and calm winds were looking at cold temperatures. Heres a look at what youll wake up to. 46 degrees in philadelphia, 40 in allentown, 41 in reading and 37 in the poconos. Even in millville waking up to 42 degrees. We are going to be cooling very fast as a huge trough builds in the east and that means it will be feeling more like winter. So, coming up well talk about how fast the temperatures will be tumbling, well give you an update on that halloween forecast and show you how you can be a part of it here on Eyewitness News, plus what the winterlike weekend will be looking like for some, the first flakes of the season will be falling. As authorities investigate what went wrong with this rocket launch were getting a new look at the explosion tonight from a south Jersey High School student. That student from Ocean City High School took this video of the explosion in virginia. A group of students from there school witnessed the launch in virginia. They had an experiment on board that rocket. It was one of 19 experiments from across the nation chosen to go to the International Space station. Giant blast and we all like jumped back and we all just stood there for like at least a minute just like, oh, oh, no. Residents are being told to avoid wreckage that may have scattered from the blast site since it could be hazardous. Well, new video at 11 oclock of unionized septa workers preparing for a potential strike. Negotiations continued between the parties tonight but there was reportedly no significant progress made. A strike could be called as early as friday. This would affect buses, subways and trolleys but not regional rails. The sides are at odds over a list of issues including pensions but septa maintains its offers have been more than generous. A Court Showdown looms as a nurse vows to break her voluntary quarantine in maine tomorrow. Kaci hickox has been quarantined since she forty one sierra leone where she has been treating ebola patients. She was first quarantined in new jersey but then allowed to return home. She claims the quarantine violates her rights. The president met today with his Public Health and National Security teams. He says there could be more ebola cases in the weeks to come in the u. S. And in delaware, Health Officials announce that they are monitoring 11 people for that virus. Well, a group of Cheney University students staff and alumni have filed a federal lawsuit. They allege the historically black college has been shortchanged for decades all because of race. The group that filed the lawsuit calls itself heeding cheneys call. Their suit names governor tom corbett, the pennsylvania board of governors and the u. S. Department of education the it claims that funding shortages at chaney have been the result of racial discrimination. Cheney university an all time Great Institution currently has an all time low student enroll. And an all time budget deficit. Whats the cause of that . Well, the cause of that is racial discrimination. Well, the complaint doesnt seek specific damages but it wants to revive cheney and expand its academic offerings. In a statement tonight the pennsylvania system of Higher Education said Cheney Universitys role within pennsylvanias state system of Higher Education and the commonwealth is important. New tonight the Philadelphia Police Department Says its making an effort to be more transparent about Violent Crime in the city. Officials have released information about shootings in the city on its web site. That data includes all shootings since 2007. This year there were 15 officer involved shootings through august. If this trend continues, it will be the lowest number of those types of shootings in year. To put the shooting information out there every time there is an officerinvolved shooting is, we do release information, release summaries but this gives an opportunity for our citizens to view this with their own eyes. Federal officials began reviewing officer involved shootings in philadelphia last year after those shootings reached their highest levels in more than a decade in 2012. A Camden County Police Officer and her husband are among 40 people arrested and charged in connection with a Drug Trafficking network. Authorities say the suspects distributed more than 1 million worth of heroin and cocaine annually all across south jersey. Est investigators say officer Ashley Bailey gave drug dealers and gangs connected to her husband confidential information. Police say their investigation is far from over. A balloon that was used in the search for the trooper shooting suspect eric frein has now been returned to ohio. This mylar balloon did fly over parts of the poconos on monday but it was not as useful as some had hoped. Law enforcement has had a very hard time navigating the rugged terrain there looking for frein. They believe that the survivalist has been hiding in the woods. In Gloucester County tonight, family and friends honored the memory of the murdered teenager autumn pasquale on what would have been her 15th birth day. The borough of clayton dedicated this gazebo in her memory at autumn pasquale park. Two years ago she was strangled by a teen boy after she went to a neighbors home to trade bicycle parts. The community raised money for this gazebo by selling tshirts, sweatshirts, magnets and yard posters. A social experiment with a serious message is getting a lot of attention today. Whats up girl . In hawaii, this flowing lava is about 2,000 degrees, moving about 15 yards an hour and there is no way to stop it. Many have already evacuated as homes in several places are threatened. The lava is now just a couple hundred feet from the main road of a village. Some are choosing to stay and helplessly watch with their homes in jeopardy. Heartbreaking. Its pretty sad, yeahly we dont know whats going to happen from now on. The lava is from mount kilauea which has been continuously erupting since 1983. A tough smoking ban is in effect in wilmington. Today mayor Dennis Williams signed a executive order banning smoking in some Public Places in the city. This ban includes transit physicals like bus stops and city parks and playgrounds. The creator of the film says he came up with the idea after watching his girlfriend get street harassed. Well, when you go out to eat in a restaurant you may be getting tricked into ordering certain things and have no idea its happening. No one will be spared by the cool air that is moving in on the coat tails of a cold front that moved through earlier this evening. On storm scan3 still a little bit of drizzle along the Barrier Islands and especially down towards cape may but that will be moving off shore and you can see that cloud shield slowly moving toward the east along the i95 corridor already seeing those clear skies. 46 in allentown, that cold air already in the poconos going down into the 30s overnight. High pressure continues to hold on for halloween, at least the first half of the day. Then the clouds will roll in. And then all eyes on this area of low pressure that will join with another area of low pressure off the coast of the midatlantic and were looking at conditions that will be deteriorating saturday. Were talking about that on shore flow, windy conditions and very chilly temperatures, a taste of winter. The jet stream begins to take a dive tomorrow, really bottoms out, we round out the bottom that of trough right through areas of the midatlantic in the deep south bringing blustery conditions. Thats winds gusting to 30, 35 miles an hour. Combine that with some cold temperatures and some showers, maybe even some snowflakes with those raindrops in the poconos by saturday night. Overnight though just looking at clouds beginning to break for clearing. The low temperature 47 in the city, cooler in our suburbs. A cold start to the day on thursday, definitely not a sweatshirt, more like sweater weather or grab the fleece in the morning.
