dallas to honor the victims of last week's deadly ambush on police officers. and protesters march through the streets of philadelphia for the sixth straight day. how the demonstrations are affecting security plans for the up coming democratic national convention. >> first a developing story. a threat made against philadelphia police department. good evening everyone i'm ukee washington. >> i'm jessica dean. police say they have have received information that there have been threats against several patrol districts but they say the threats have not been deemed realistic or credible at this time. they did row lows statement tonight reading in part "obviously we are taking this seriously and it will be thoroughly investigated in order to ensure the safety of not only our employees, but the residents who live in the avenue for mentioned districts". we will of course continue to stay on top of the this developing story and bring updates as we get them. demonstrators in philadelphia were out for a sixth straight night speaking out against recent shooting of black men by police. with the dnc now just two weeks away, protesters plan to continue to march and police say they're prepared. cbs3's david spunt is live at police headquarters with more on the protests and the police preparedness. david? >> reporter: jessica, with protests here in philadelphia and other cities around the country and then you add in the murder of five police officers in dallas last week, police here do not want to take any chances much that's why they are already fine tuning their plan for the dnc in two weeks. for the sixth night in a row protesters marched the streets of philadelphia demanding chan change. >> i'm feeling like my for fathers stepping out here for cause. >> reporter: they want to say the way black americans are treated by police officers. it doesn't matter what city. the theme is a common one. >> it's important to have a large representation and to show solidarity. >> reporter: demonstrators started at cecil b. moore and broad street at rush hour. they were surrounded by police on cars and on bikes. >> they're making sure we're safe. the protest is peaceful. all races out here, man. it's inspiring right now. >> reporter: police officers purposely are letting demonstrators get their word out while keeping them safe. >> they were professional. they were patient. we will maintain this posture going into the dnc. obviously, there will be people who are not from here who will choose to take advantage of this as they do with every convention. >> reporter: commissioner ross told "eyewitness news" the convention security plan is constantly under going fine tuning. the march was the second to happen on monday. earlier in the morning, a group marched around center city calling for the same demands as this later group. the later group finish at fairmount park. >> i hope some of the people with legitimate issues relative to protests want they believe in injures are don't get highjacked by people who are not from here. >> reporter: and part of that security man jessica and ukee includes having demonstrators gather at fdr park that is just few hundred yards away from the main sight of the convention at the wells fargo center in south philly. reporting live tonight at police headquarters, david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> david, thank you. two bailiffs were quilled after a shooting inside a courthouse in southwestern michigan today. inn meat grabbed a gun from an officer killing the two bailiffs and injuring a sheriff's deputy and a civilian. it happened in the city of st. joseph which is about an hour west of cal had a ma zoo. sheriff says the prisoner was being moved from cell from for a court appearance when it happened. that inmate was fatally shot by two other bailiffs. president obama and george w. bush will speak tomorrow at a memorial for the five dallas officers killed in an ambush last thursday. three of those officers will be laid to rest this week. a bomb on a police robot killed gunman micah johnson. cbs news reports a search of his home revealed bomb-making materials. investigators believe johnson was planning a larger attack but instead used the protests to ambush officers. >> this person obviously had some dilution. this person also was very committed to killing officers. ♪ >> thousands gathered outside of dallas city hall tonight for vigil in honor of those fallen officers. and reporter ginger allen from our sister station ktvt was there with the outpouring of support for a stow in mourning. she has more now. >> with heavy hearts we bid you farewell brothers. >> reporter: five officers took the podium to individually recognize each of the five officers. chief brown called them super hero. the city will not be divided. >> supporters came here from all over the country for an emotional candlelight vigil where flags waived proudly and parents held their children tightly. especially those who were headed back to work for the night. >> if it's my last moment, my last words to her were i love you and it was from my heart. it puts it on higher level and it gives them more attention now because something is never happened in dallas. that will never happen again. but anything was ever to happen to me, i want them to know that. that was ginger allen reporting for us from ktv in dallas. >> just ahead of the democratic national convention hillary clinton app% to be mending fences with bernie sanders. >> and presumptive republican nominee donald trump and have for quite sometime. >> reporter: among the contenders for vp new jersey governor chris christie who warmed up the crowd at today's rally before trump took the stage. >> it will be america first from now on. america first. >> reporter: meantime, party delegates have begun gathering in cleveland where trump is said to formally accept his pear's nomination. >> lord, we know it's truly only you who can make america great again on the agenda, settling on party platform which will likely include same sex marriage, trade and abortion, issues where trump has at times gone against the gop grade. >> we are defined by what unites us as a party went need to make sure we're sending a clear message to the american people about what we really are all about. >> reporter: also, seeking unity, the democratic party which holds its convention here in philadelphia in two weeks. tomorrow could hold the key with bernie sanders set to appear alongside presumptive democratic nominee hillary clinton in new hampshire. >> she's somebody who is seeking very hard to earn the trust of the american people and to bring all of us together. >> reporter: now clinton has agreed to include several of bernie sanders proposals in the party platform including a call to increase federal minimum wage to $15 an hour. so it should be very interesting week politically speaking. >> very much so. more to preparations continue today the city along with the democratic national committee announced high-tech plans for the convention. they're partnering with philadelphia start up kuralate the company's technology will allows people to discover the democratic national convention online through images and videos being generated by attendees and supporters. as for the republican convention i will be lawmakers are still trying to figure out how the $31 billion spending bill will be funded. leaders of the republican controlled legislature say they will work through the night to get the done. meanwhile $600 million in aid to universities remains in limbo in the house and credit rating agencies standard and poors is warning of a downgrade. it's not the changing of the guard in britain it's "eyewitness news" in garnet valley dozens gathered for a candlelight vigil in memory of brielle barber. the six-year-old passed away today. she was diagnosed with malignant tumor in her spine in 2013. few months after treatment the cancer returned this time in her brain. brielle's parents created the lemon shot challenge to raise awareness about pediatric brain cancer. super heroes to the rescue on mission to lift the spirits of kids at the children's hospital facility in king prussia. window washers from jenkintown building services leaped off the comic pages today to dynamic duo scaled down the hospital walls, amazing the pint size patients some had chance to get up close to spiderman and captain ameri america. some were delighted to view them through the windows. one dad was just as thrilled. >> this is awesome. it's great for the kids to be able to come and see those guys while they're waiting for their appointments. it's fantastic. >> for parents and the kids small gestures like this are a welcomed distraction from the reality of regular hospital visits. getting inked for education. a local tattoo artist is using his talent to support a new kind of charter school in montgomery county. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do went to hatboro to see this creative fundraiser in action. >> reporter: school fundraiser in the most unlikely of places. a tattoo shop. ray, of tattoo in heart worry came up with the idea to raise money for good earth chart school we hope to send his young daughters one day. >> i just figure if we offed up chief at a time toon fill this place with people and we get girl at the tattoos, have a lot of fun, make a lot of money and make money for the cause. >> reporter: he was right. customers began filing in around noon to put their names on waiting list. a $20 donation and they could pick from a sheet of various body art. by seven the volunteer artists drew around 70 tattoos. >> we did a bunch of bumble bees. i did an il alien. i would love to do a unicorn today. >> pro mowing not only exposing many to their first tattoo but to the mission behind good earth public charter applying to the hatboro horsham school board to open in 2017. >> doing lot of hands op teaching. a lot of manipulative a lot of getting out there and learning by doing so we have gardening, we have arts and then through the years it pro progresses and gets more rigorous. >> this is great price and a good cause. so it was just -- it work itself out. >> mom shannon mull hernia is no stranger to tattoos was excited to here about the inn know veigh seive education model possibly coming to the area. >> not a regular school. where a lot of kids don't have a great time and they're not happy. i'm all for something better. i wash i had it. >> reporter: petty did get to draw his unicorn. >> that's right. >> this has been good earth charter school's most successful fundraiser yet. they expect to make upwards of $2,000. in hatboro, i'm trang do, cbs3 "eyewitness news". it's the game some people can't stop playing but there could be a nat so fun side to pokemon go. the popular new smart phone app was just released this month. hit on drexel's campus the game is a virtual map of where you actually are and you're supposed to catch pokemon at different locations. you have to walk to get there and that's create something problems with players focusing on their cell phones. >> i was at the beach over the weekend actually and crossing the highway and kind of playing the game, and there was -- i didn't get hit but it was sketchy because i look up after i crossed the street and said that was probable not the best idea. >> on more serious note police near st. louis had people using the game to lure victims to specific locations to rob them. the company released a statement encouraging people to may safely were you a friend. seven dolls dogs from flood ravaged west virginia arrived in philadelphia today. >> the pennsylvania spca is teaming up with an animal shelter from west virginia where shelters are filled to capacity. the mixed breed dogs being housed at the spca headquarters on erie avenue and they'll be given health and wellness checks and veil for adoption a little later this month. >> welcome. they'll get snatched up. >> they've been seen by their new families. >> that's right. >> cute. >> wonderful. kate has got your forecast right now what's today, monday? we've got a chance at it let's take look were we're seeing outside right now. take you out to clear sky. over center city philadelphia. looking pretty good on skycam3. it's a nice comfortable night. the humidity is rising just a bit but you can leave the windows perhaps or have the fan on and maybe give the air-conditioner break because you will be needing it later this week as temperatures head back from the 90s and dew points head back to the 70s. take look at a time lapped video from today this was pretty the case all across the region. puffy fair weather cumulus clouds deeply sky it was really nice day. nice breeze out there even tonight. making it feel a bit cooler than the thermometer indicates looking pretty good. storm scan3 is clear in our region no problems right now as we widen you can see our next system is moving into the great lakes region does have shower and thunderstorms with it. we may kick of pick up a few showers and storms here and there as we get into wednesday but certainly thursday that's going to be our best chance to get some wet weather it's also going to be hottest and most steamy day or at least it will the hottest i'll explain that in just a moment. right now, though, temps are dropping nice toll name down to 69 already in allentown. 69 in millville. it's 72 here in philadelphia. and you may recall last week we few nights that didn't drop below 76 or so and we're already on our way down through the 70s dew points we're starting to see them rise a bit. dew points this evening in the mid 50s. now we've got a couple of 50s out there back to steamier pattern here. 64 is the current dew point in philadelphia. you can see how temperatures rise in the humidity will as well. now technically friday has the highest forecasted high this week but i think thursday is actually going to be the most unbearable day. 92 degrees but you're talking about dew points in the low 70s. that's going to make the feel like near 100 at the height of the afternoon. so it's a gradual climb and the humidity begins to climb as well. let's talk about these thunderstorms overnight we're clear. no problems. tomorrow looks like a dry day a few clouds around here and there maybe a stray sprinkle in the afternoon but most of us some get through tomorrow unscathed. wednesday is a little bit a of different story we start the morning with showers off to the west this mainly stays north and west through the day wednesday. i think it's still a nice deep day if you're in the poconos a better chance for showers thunderstorms wednesday we all get in the thunderstorm on thursday. you can see hot air moving from the south. thursday will be when the heat and also the humidity really starts to hit a peek. overnight comfy 66 degrees. tomorrow looks good seasonably hot mostly sunny with a high of 87. nice beach day as well lots of sun. 82 down the shore. 84 on wednesday. shore could pick up a thunderstorm on thursday as could we here in the city. we've got 80s for the next two days then we're back to the 90s best chance for thunderstorms thursday and friday and still a little soupy this weekend saturday all depends on the cloud cover we can hit 90 if we do that would make it the third heat wave of the season. it will close either way. >> did you hear mr. bell grunt. >> he groaned. >> not too that you. >> he had soupy, right. >> yes soupy. >> that's the worst. nobody likes that. >> don bell here with sports now. >> can you tell?
