A tornado tore through a Mobile Home Park in northern balabama and a Day Care Center destroyed. Debris is scattered across the landscape. There are still thousands without power across alabama after that powerful storm system pounded the state with heavy rain, hail, and tornado. 16 to 20 structures in jackson county, alabama, were destroyed when a deadly storm tore through the region. In alabama, strong winds ignited this house fire. Planes at the Lamar County Airport were crushed by debris. Six confirmed tornadoes touched down in mississippi overnight. Three down. Reporter the powerful storms leveled multiple homes. Ray higgins escaped injury and high winds flipped this fedex truck on its side. The storms also brought heavy rain to the area and flooded road. As we mentioned, National Weather service says a number of children were critically injured and the threat isnt over this morning. Flash flood warnings have been issued in multiple counties throughout the state. A tennessee wildfire zone, the largest fire to hit the state . A century killed three people and destroyed hundreds of homes and other people. 14 other people were hurt. The flames drove 14,000 people from gatlinburg in the Great Smoky Mountains. The city is still under curfew. Crews battling the fire since late monday night and Hurricane Force winds drove the fire and dozens of hot spots are still burning. Demarco morgan is near gatlinburg in the heart of the destruction in sevierville. Reporter more than 150 homes and businesses destroyed and many look like this place, leveled by the flames. This was once home to an elderly couple more than 40 years and they lost everything. I spoke to people who had similar stories who had no time to get out before the flames rushed in. Parts of gatlinburg, tennessee, look like a scorched ghost town with smoldering homes burned to the ground. An official with the Tennessee Department of transportation shot this video showing the damage. Some of the structures along this road look fine but then as you get a little bit higher it tells another story. Reporter the flames hallowed out homes and buildings. Many people forced to evacuate sought refuge in this shelter run by the red cross. Ray lannen and his family. Youre watching for a glow in the distance. You know, smoke everywhere. Reporter the terrifying scene as they left was similar to what many encountered on the evacuation route. Thick smoke blanketed the road as the flames crept closer. Is it going to reach this . Reporter Officials Say more than 400 emergency workers from multiple departments are working on putting out the fire and clearing debris. Ive gotten calls from the governor of every surrounding state saying how can we help. Reporter Gatlinburg Mike Warner is trying to aid his community while dealing with his own devastation. I had an opportunity to drive through town and see my house is gone and my business of 31 years is gone. Reporter now strong storms and heavy rains moved through the night, possibly helping firefighters. Closing arguments begin today in the murder trial of former South CarolinaPolice Officer michael slagr who is accused of killing walter scott in a 2015 shooting captured on video by an eyewitness. Scott was seen running from a traffic stop in his first detailed public account, slagr testified that scott grabbed his taser and pointed it at him. When mr.
