More than 150 captured soldiers were reportedly killed by isis fighter and this morning the president is taking heat from his critics who says he doesnt understand the isis threat. President obama says military action to defeat islamic militants in syria is not imminent. Hes calling on the pentagon to call on plans to take out the group known as isis. I dont want to put the cart before the horse. We dont have a strategy yet. That comment drew fire from critics including Republican Senate minority leader mitch mccome who says in part the president needs to use his full extent of authority to attack this enemy force. The president needs to present his plan to congress and to the american people. Senator bill nelson is calling for targeted air strikes. The head of the snake is in syria and if you want to kill the snake, you need to cut off its head. President obama discussed military options for going after isis with his National Security team last night. Hes also sending secretary of state john kerry to the middle east to build support. In order for us to degrade isil over the long term, were going to have to build a regional strategy. Now, were not going that alone. The United States has already launched more than 100 air strikes to hit isis targets in neighboring iraq but the president admits action there is not enough to defeat the group. The u. S.
