Reporter president obama authorized the targeted air strikes on iraq but he was quick to say they that does not mean war. Reporter the militant group known as isis is said to be advancing toward the city of erbil where american diplomats and civilians are serving. We are prepared to take action if they threaten our personnel or facilities anywhere in iraq. Reporter the president also confirmed humanitarian air drops of food and water near sinjar mountain where thousands of religious minorities are stranded. They have been driving religious from their homes. Theyre dying of starvation and water. Some republicans have suggested the president doesnt need their goahead to take action in iraq. The u. S. Withdrew fully from iraq in 2011 after nearly ten years of war. The president is pushing for a broader diplomatic strategy to solve the problems in iraq. Rockets have returned to the air in the middle east. A temporary truce expired just hours ago between israel and hamas. The Israeli Military says gaza militants already fired at least ten rockets into the southern part of the country this morning. Cbs news correspondent Clarissa Ward joins us on the phone from gaza. Hawaii is now facing a onetwo punch in the pacific. Hurricane iselle is making landfall on the big island. Its the first hurricane to hit the island in 22 years and not far behind is hurricane julio. Communities are without power and several hundred spent the night at emergency shelters with iselle on the path. Those on the island insist theyre ready. Bill watson lives a block from the ocean and says hes not taking any chances. Its just not worth taking the risk because there is some danger here. On some parts of the big island the storm is expected to dump as much as a foot of rainfall which could cause lanlides and whileio make a direct hit on hawaii in 20 years, an Even StrongerStorm Hurricane julio is falling just behind. It will be working its way across the big island, then taking a position just to the south of maui and oh roy huh as we head through friday. All of these times, local hawaiian time. Them by saturday its well off to the west and no longer an issue. The winds will be strong, especially across the big i hand. This is where you have complex rain following up. Then Tropical Storm winds in place like maui and across the southern end of oh roy huh and the wind field is going to work its way parter off to the south and seems to be bag issue. We have hurricane warnings up and that includes the big island. Tropical storm warnings for the rest of the chain. There will be local heavy rainfall and flash flooding for the rest of the island. Locally up to a foot of rainfall especially where there are taller mountains and thats going to lead to dangerous flooding. In terms of julio as we watch this over the next several days.
