"one of the pieces of evidence that was seized from the suspect was his phone," other key evidence - the handgun police say they found on suspect jason brian dalton... the pistol - consistent with shell casings from all three crime scenes ...perhaps even more disturbing, the 'heavy duty' jacket - capable of concealing a pistol - ... ...which law enforcement says dalton bought less than three hours before the first attack. also, a veritable arsenal - a total of eleven rifles - investigators found at dalton's home... this, as one injured victim is still recovering, expected to survive... 14-year old abigail cough is in critical condition... ...the only survivor in the third and final attack. her father spoke about their little girl... ..even showing sympathy for the suspect's loved ones. "our thoughts are with the dalton family who are also suffering at this time, we want his family to know we don't hold anything against the family." reid binion, kwwl news. charges include six counts of murder, and eight firearms charges. a big surprise for drivers when a small planes crashes into a street and damages several parked cars. this happened in southern california. the f-a-a says the pilot tried to go back to the airport but ended up on a road just south of the airport. thankfully, no reports of any injuries. no word on why the pilot wanted to head back. camille cosby spends hours answering questions about her husband. she must tesitify by way of deposition in a civil suit involvement in the sexual assaults of seven women. the women accuse bill cosby of defaming them by denying their allegations. the next deposition is set for march 14-th. a group of parents at linn mar high school in marion say their children have been verbally and physically abused by the assistant football coach. in a school board meeting, people spoke out both against and in support of the coaching staff.... accusations range from verbal, to making players pick up glass with their bare hands. despite all of the stories --not everyone believes it. player after player took to the mic defending the coach... "it's just shocking to me because i've been here and i've that we host and none of those stuff has occurred to me or i haven't even seen them so i don't understand what is going on." the allegations have been investigated, and according to the linn-mar principal, no abuse was found. but some parents aren't satisfied...and that's why they and investigate. new this morning... today, state senators are fighting to prove there's no going back on an expensive mistake. in 2014, the iowa workforce development mistakenly paid about three quarters of a million dollars in unemployment checks. the reporting system had crashed. now some want the people who benefited from that mistake to keep their money... "free shipping" just got a little harder to come by for amazon's non- prime shoppers. if you spent enough money, you would get free shipping. ...but amazon just raised the minimum amount -- so now you'll have to shell out 49 dollars before an order ships for free. that's a 40- percent increase from the previous minimum of 35 dollars. this does not affect amazon prime memberships. a new study shows fewer people are drinking milk. dairy industry - including producers right here in eastern iowa. data from the u-s department of agriculture shows people are drinking less and less of it. we talked to a farmer who says its because there are so many choices now... "probably the biggest thing would be the convienence of the soda pops, the gatorades, the sports drink type items have really taken on big. " with the decline of milk consumption, farmers say they've had to find other ways to store the milk being produced -- like in marketing campaigns, in hopes of getting people to drink more milk. when you're getting ready to have your first child...you immediately start daydreaming about all of the firsts.... but a new mom has already missed so many "firsts" -- because she started fighting for her life the day her daughter was born... as kwwl's nikki newbrough tells us, she's hoping other women can learn from her story. "around 6:30 in the morning my wife woke me up and said darin we have to go to the hospital and we have to go now." while laura was pregnant she developed gallstones...not uncommon in pregnancy. but that morning, something was seriously wrong. "we were in labor and delivery less than two minutes before the obgyn came in and said i'm calling an emergency c- laura on the otherhand...her condition was declining. moving from icu in marshalltown to mary greeley medical center in ames, to finally the university of iowa hospitals and clinics. "what happened is her pancreas ruptured so it was like a bomb going off inside her body." all from a gallstone. (dr.lillian erdahl, laura's surgical team) "gallstone you know it can it can doeverything to travel down into the bile ducts that drain down into the intestine and lodge there and block the drainage of the bile." at the time of this interview, due to laura's condition she wasn't able to physically speak with us. her recovery could take up to a year...with a number of surgeries along the way. but she's motivated....just motivated to just be a mommy to baby josephine. "and depending how long the recovery is you know who knows will she hear josephine's first words. will she see josephine crawl. all those things that are important. she may miss out on." "the establishment of the republican is waking up to the fact that within a couple of weeks donald trump could be unstoppable." not all voters are convinced: "i just think he has turned this whole thing into a circus." marco rubio is hoping to score here: "we can't win. if we nominate someone, if we nominate someone that half the republican party hates." anyone believe that donald trump supporters are going to i left my kitchen!" john kasich is seeing protests after signing off to defund planned parenthood in ohio. " i found his comments today to be completely deplorable and that someone is listening out there." he and ben carson rounding out the five republicans left in this race. nevada's caucuses start later this evening turnout isn't expected to be huge. four years ago only 33,000 across the state showed up. i'm tracie potts in washington, now back to you. a cruz aide resigns -- and rubio rick tyler was the spokesman for cruz. he spread a false story that rubio had criticized the bible. cruz is now looking for a new national spokesman -- as rubio and trump accuse the campaign of playing dirty. the pentagon spells out the plan to shut down guantanamo bay. the price tag won't be cheap. today, the white house will give an outline to congress. the president wants to close the facility -- saying it's used as a recruiting tool by terrorists, and too costly to keep running. the pentagon says it would cost about 500 million to shut it down -- and make changes to other sites that right now, there are 91 people being held there. a high-speed chase comes to a crashing end in a field. officers chased the suspect in oklahoma after he refused to pull over. after about ten minutes -- he goes off the road --barreling through a fence and crashing into some trees. about a dozen officers surround him. he was arrested. in the car. today, opening statements will be made in a murder trial moved to eastern iowa. alexander fazzino is charged with first degree murder in the death of his wife, emily. her body was found in their home in boone in 2012. her grandfather founded the fareway stores grocery chain. fazzino called police -- saying his wife was unresponsive. he told them he believed emily was trying to kill herself, and that she was addicted to prescription drugs. police investigated it as a homicide -- after the autopsy showed she suffered head trauma. the high profile case was moved to winneshiek county and is expected to take up to three weeks. authorities call it a full court press -- as they search for a murder suspect -- who might be in eastern iowa. kevin edwards is wanted for the murder of a nine- year-old in chicago last year. police believe edwards and two other men lured tyshawn lee into an alley -- where they shot and murder. edwards brought u-s marshals to a home on randall street in but they did arrest another man -- ryan ellis -- on an unrelated theft charge. u-s marshals wouldn't confirm if edwards had been at the home on randall street -- but they say it's possible he's been in iowa for some time. they want anyone who sees him to call police right away. still no motive in the murder of six people in michigan. prosecutors continue to call the shootings random. jason dalton was in court on monday. he's charged with six counts of murder. authorities say he admitted being involved. they believe dalton shot eight people at an apartment complex, restaurant, and car dealership in kalamazoo saturday night. dalton was an uber driver. the company says it received complaints about him from several passengers saturday night -- including one about erratic driving. but the company won't say whether it talked to him. the parents of a 14 year old girl shot on saturday night -- say their daughter is fighting for her life. were killed in kalamazoo. at one point her heart stopped beating, but when the teen hope. "everybody needs to get that straight. my daughter is not dead. she is alive and she is fighting for her life. i want everybody to understand that." the teen is in critical condition. a gunmaker wants a judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by sandy hook families. those families lost a loved one in the 2012 mass shooting at the newtown elementary school. they claim the bushmaster ar-15 public... "this is a, an instrument of war, designed for the battlefield, that is sold and marketed to the general public." the gunman killed 20 first-graders and six adults. freedom group, the parent company of the ar-15, says it's protected by a federal law shielding gun manufacturers from most lawsuits. gun rights groups say it's unreasonable to believe a company that makes a legal product would do somehow acceptable to commit murder with it. a georgia business owner is now requiring his employees to get a concealed carry handgun permit -- and be armed. the company provides risk management services to aircraft insurers. the owner says recent reports about crime concern him -- so he "you're willing to commit to training, commit to becoming an expert on the firearm, and -- also you have to commit to be ready to use it if you have to." the owner says several high- profile business owners with private planes could soon follow his lead and require their employees to carry guns. police are linking a man killed by officers in a hotel lobby to a january homicide. des moines police say d-n-a found in a january murder matched the blood found in the hotel shooting. officers found the body of norma mcneeley inside her home on january 24th. urbandale police shot a man in a later. detectives say that man is the only suspect in the mcneeley homicide case. a lifetime deal -- does not last. a 97-year-old woman is being evicted from a home she's lived in for more than six decades. marie has lived in this california house for 63 years. could stay in the home for the rest of her life. but now the new landlord is kicking her out...
