san marnan and laporte road intersection around two this afternoon. a ford f-150 pickup, chrysler pacifica and ford explorer police vehicle all experienced front- end damage. traffic resumed in the area after the vehicles were moved -- and the scene was cleared. it's one of the most dangerous intersections in iowa. and as people get ready to start doing their holiday shopping, cedar falls police are putting out a warning. they're talking about this intersection, highway 58 in cedar falls. the stretch of highway between greenhill road and viking road has seen it's share of problems. kwwl's nikki newbrough is live out near that interseciton. nikki what did you find out? police tell me there was even a couple accidents here last night. and now between thanksgiving and christmas, they are on high alert in this area. some people (ding) during this holiday season, the cedar falls police department has one interesction they keep an eye on. "i'n my years working the streets yes i have, i have been there for fatalities and i have been there for personal injury accidents and regular accidents that happen." we're talking about highway 58 and viking road. police say it's been a bad intersection for a long time....always in the top ten for the most dangerous intersections in iowa. recently landing at number four. "and some of those accidents are very serious and all because of all the new businesses on the viking road area. we have a lot more traffic during that thanksgiving to christmas time." "you know just standing out intersection gets. that's why police are doing everything they can to make sure people are aware of that." the department partnered with the dot again this year to put up signs to alert this 60 mile an hour traffic to slow down. a fire destorys a home and a camper, both of which were being lived in. it started around eight last night, in the two thousand block of central city road just a few miles outside of downtown central city in linn county. kwwl's kristin rogers saw the damage for herself today, she was in central city earlier, she joins us live from the linn county sheriff's office, who also responded to the fire... that's right, officers from the sheriff's office were working on traffic control during the fire, but the most unusual thing about this particular fire is that two firemen were injured on scene. it's something the linn county sheriff says doesn't happen too often. check out this damage.... the central city fire chief tells us a fireman from alburnett fell inside the garage, hurting his leg he was taken to the hospital... a central city fireman was also injured when the family dog at the home bit his finger, he was treated county fire cheif) "this close their home, but it looks like other than one person having smoke inhalation injuries that he was treated for, is being treated for, and then of course the two firemen that were injured, things probably could have been worse." that's because both of these homes are total losses... two people were living in the camper where the fire started and two people were inside the house, all of them were able to escape, as sheriff gardner mentioned one person was sent to the hospital the central city fire chief tells me the dog that caused the bite had just recieved it's shots about a week ago and he believes the dog was simply trying to protect his home, which unfortuntely as i mentioned is a total loss.. we've got you covered live in linn county, kristin rogers ...kwwl news. the fire is being investigated by the central city fire department and the linn county sheriff's office. they do believe as kristin mentioned, the fire started in the camper and them spread to the home. still to come on the k-w-w-l news at five... will fewer people be attending the macy's thanksgiving day a parade this year? and... charges are filed two weeks after the day two hawk alerts are sent out from the university of iowa campus. --------- --------- is reassuring americans that there are currently no credible threats on the homeland...
