(susan sarandon) interventionist and she's done horrible things." celebrities, lending their voices in an election. although some say celebrity endorsements may not persuade voters toward one candidate or another... experts believe having a celebrity back a candidate can get voters engaged in the political process. (david swerdlick, assistant editor, the washington post) "most celebrities, i think people are interested to know what they think, they help with fundraising, but it's not clear to me that people are basing their voting decisions on how celebrities endorse." star power may even help get voters to donate to a candidate. hillary clinton overwhelmingly wins hollywood's vote over donald trump. but trump is not without support from the rich and famous. but all celebrity support may not be created equal. some well-known stars like sean penn, angelina jolie, tom hanks and -- of course -- oprah winfrey -- may have more sway than other personalities. celebrity endorsements are nothing new in politics - historians trace the role of election back to 1920 when warren harding was endorsed by movie stars including the actress lillian russell. m-t-v and the "rock the vote" campaign in the early 1990s used pop culture to help get young people to the polls. "don't just stand there let's get to it, speak your mind there's nothing to it vote!" one hillary clinton superpac just released a public service announcement using actors from the film "the avengers" called "important" to encourage americans to vote. a republican political consultant responded with this video, mocking the actors. even when they arent doing ads for candidates -- many celebs are also weighing in on social media... so whether online or looking to make their mark in this polarized elction. michael holmes, cnn. the candidates will face off in the final presidential debate on wednesday... right here in our backyard. fox five will have special coverage before and after the debate... so join us as we break down where our battleground state stands. more than three hundred volunteers are in town pushing for early voting. nevada union members are last week before early voting begins. a solidarity rally was held yesterday to welcome volunteers from los angeles labor. the nevada labor 2016 program says they are dedicated to getting working people to vote for hillary clinton... and senate candidate catherine cortez-masto.
